Howe's half-arsed civil war slackers v Pep's champions in waiting
LondonBlue replied to Dr Gloom's topic in Newcastle Forum
enjoyed saturdays game. it was much more enjoyable than the arsenal game. thought 1-1 was the right scoreline. thought it was a penalty but also that he dived. but ederson gave him the opportunity so no complaints had thought gordon wasted down the middle until he scored. he has terrorized us down the left before now so expected that again. still think he should have played on the wing where the pace could expose walkers aging legs. favourite moment of the game, without a doubt was edersons back heel. he's rubbish at penalties but his assists and calmness under pressure make him a massive fan favourite. early days in the title race but we just might have our work cut out staying in the top four this season. as always anything will be a bonus. there will be new legs in midfield next summer. not sure we missed rodri. we won the first 4 without him. pep needs to be pep regarding rodri. Burns a big fu#ker so i liked the commentator line "Haaland has rag dolled Burn there", made me chuckle ( more than Burns studs in Haalands ankle. ) good game, good game. -

thats last season shirt. maroon trim. this season we have the crappy 0161 trim. -
and another link .. BREAKING: Manchester City appear to have secured a potentially significant victory of course the PL postponing a vote could just be whilst they reword their dodgy APT clause
-
prefer this news. could be huge for you .... Manchester City appear to have scored a victory over the Premier League on APT
-
think Pep said that we're not going to waste energy on the league cup and will play youngsters. at first that sounds disrespectful but pep always wants to win everything. but the extra champions league games and potentially 7 additional club world cup games means something has to give. i guess its an "opportunity" for the youngsters. although tottenham away might end their run early on.
-
Stefan Borson on x just tweeted on the APT case. he suggests the case concluded a while back and that it's outcome is still being written up. doesn't sound hopeful based on that tweet but hopefully the tweet is about balance and managing expectations.

not even as a Christmas pressie ? hmm not sure either of our owners know what Christmas is.
-
hmmm. not dismissing Bruno btw. Would be more than happy with 3 points AND bruno if that's okay with you?
-
i'd rather the 3 points.

oh you quoted him after i had him on ignore. i suspect we will be cleared on every one including non-cooperation. he went there so lots being made of us getting more sponsorship in the first 2 years, but nothing being made of us getting nothing in another year. total received over the contract matches the value of the contract. lots being made of us getting money from adug. adug hold the sponsorship for the whole group and re-invest on behalf of the whole group. city request monies from their share as and when needed. all accounted for and a common practice. think its called accrual accounting but not sure. mancini contract declared as per the requirements at the time. the rules have since changed. but we met those in place. also why would we do that before ffp rules came in. are we clairvoyant? PL charges for failing to comply with uefa ffp. Well CAS said we did so that should be fine. fordham image rights arrangements were known about by the PL at the time. no objections. so not sure how then can make a deal out of that 10 years later. i sleep well at night rumour has it we were offered a deal and turned it down saying only complete vindication will suffice. odd if we're guilty we're in the middles of a £300m stadium expansion and hotel build. odd if we're guilty. anyway could we please have a nice gentle match on saturday, i invested too much emotion in sunday. need a quiet one.

for sure but they only defended. nothing more. to me thats excellent defending, but that isn't the same as a tactical master class as many seem to have claimed.
-
he was famous for not cutting his fingernails and using them to pinch guys hard when the ref wasn't looking to try and get them to respond. now that i read that... "oooh pinching! how hard are you?"

yep anything to stop them. saw a rumour today that the APT case ruling is currently being appealed by the PL. That would explain the silence but who knows. -
i think throwing the ball at the gooner after scoring was dodgy. but the other 2 were fine by me :). blue specs firmly on and here we go.... the so called first body smash was at the exact moment the gooner headed the ball. just to men shoulder to shoulder. didn't look great granted. the second was obstruction by the gooner. as halland is charging into the arsenal half the gooner takes several steps to the side and into haalands path. haaland didn't care and went into him. if you watch it again ask yourself what the gooner was thinking as he stepped across. oh and havertz should have gone for his forearm smash on rodri
-
can't be a masterclass they basically just parked the bus. a masterclass has to offer something more than parking a team of giants in front of goal.
-
arsenal were 2-1 up at the home of the champions and they found a way to bottle it. i'd have taken that before the game, but we should have scored more. we lumped a few into the box but meat and drink for arsenal. they're a team of big buggers. they 're supposed to have the best defense around. might be true. but when you don't leave the penalty are and you're all giants its hardly a masterclass. a tactical masterclass would involve them carrying some sort of threat. still they got a point and kicked rodri out of the PL for a while so job done. reminded me of that game arsenal whinged about versus stoke years back. stoke parked the bus and walcott had to be carried off. so the question is are arsenal stoke in disguise.

If we lose both cases i'm all for selling you our best players for £1 Adding a condition that you sell them back to us on our return, would be nice but really it would be to screw over the red cartel. 3 for a pound 3 for a pound, come and get your cheap players. -

how do you guys feel about our case v the PL on the APT rules? i think we may have had some success but no one seems to be saying. i'm assuming every PL club knows the result already. if we lost, i feel for sure that the outcome would have been leaked. with choruses of football is the winner. if we have won, i reckon they will try and play it down. if we have won then i assume that the case for compensation would become active (rumour has it, city had a 50m deal blocked by the PL) my understanding of the issue is that City don't agree that the PL are the right body to decide what is an APT and what is FMV. But i'm probably wrong. -

with Rodri, bobb and KDB missing i expect us to line up with a mid 3 of Kova, Silva, Gundo and front 3 to be grealish, haaland, savio. but both doku and foden have a shout. and also i don't think i've ever guessed a pep team right. -

i expect the pattern to be you defending solidly and breaking at pace. and that's actually the most effective formula against us if executed well. conversely, if a team dominates possession against us we tend to defend much better. -

i never worry but i never take anything for granted either. same was true 20 years ago, hell 50+ years ago. not sure who you guys might have missing. hopefully gordon? looks like we might have lost Rodri for a while. KDB has a question mark. Arsenal fans screaming for Haaland to get a ban for throwing the ball at gabriels head and almost killing him after stones goal. not sure about Savinhos knee. quality squad so i'm not crying about it just pointing out your cause for hope (aside from your own abilities) -
