  1. He learned that from Lewis Dunk 😂 Seriously, well done folks - brilliant result. Lots of sore heads in the morning 👏👏👏
  2. To be honest the bookies seem to have it at something like 5/4 for a win to either side. I just thought Eddie would have hatched a plan to get a result like West Ham did, especially as a loss would mean only 3pts from 12 at the International Break. I have no doubt that Eddie will sort this, you've got the players and, like us, just enough bodies to give it a go on all 4 fronts. City apart I've not seen anything really outstanding as yet as to title challengers. You'll be up there, back on it in no time, I'm convinced of it
  3. Good afternoon all, I'm back and not here to gloat. A great win for us (I had it down for a draw or a Howe-inspired Smash 'n Grab but was very pleased with the way we went about our business after a shaky early start when Dunk had a brain fog a couple of times. What surprised me the most was how little pressure we got put under and - please accept this in the spirit it is meant - the seeming lack of desire from most of your players. We battered West Ham last week and lost but in truth there was not even the threat of a real counter from Newcastle to concern us once our defence got it's act in gear. If Pedro had managed to drag the ball out from under his feet it could have been 4 or 5. Howe has to address that, the signs were there against Liverpool. As you may be aware I'm a firm admirer of all things NUFC, your supporters are usually the best we get at the Amex, and by a comfortable margin. But your team gave you nothing to hold onto. Fair play to getting a party atmosphere going at the end - I'm only just a few seats across in the corner. But through all that I wish you all the best for the coming season especially in Europe. See you in May at SJP, as usual I can't wait
  4. Yes I thought that when I wrote it but all things considered the folk at the sharp end - Eddie and the players will be new to all this in the main, I wasn't trying to put you down (Europe is certainly unchartered territory for us) Of course the supporters will have fond memories of European campaigns and those fantastic nights under the floodlights. Even I struggle to understand why or how pundits and journos don't know about your Fairs Cup win and always seem to point back to 1955 for your last trophy.
  5. I enjoyed the first 85 minutes and ended up feeling far too deflated after watching a friendly when I usually don't do friendlies! . After a night's sleep I feel much better after coming to realise that that was a good test last night. Just the right amount of edge in it to make it competitive and worthwhile. Like Newcastle we've not fielded anywhere near a strong side throughout and have had Gross at RB!! Van Hecke & Veltman in front of a rookie keeper getting used to playing our system was a big ask. De Zerbi seemed to use this series to blood players with just 2 or three 1st Team appearances (or just 4 minutes at Villa Parkin the case of young Hinshelwood who is not even a FB) to see how they would cope. I thought they did well. We played most of the 2nd half with largely our u21 side on the pitch (with J. Pedro yet to feature in earnest) I have a suspicion E Howe will have had much the same mindset. We both go into uncharted waters with the amount of fixtures coming up. Heaven knows, what the starting line ups will be in the early stages of the League Cup. All good really, I enjoyed last night's match it augers well. Good luck for the coming campaign and, I look forward to meeting a few of you early next season at the Amex, the best set of visiting supporters to come here bar none
  6. I'd just about got over Dan Burn leaving and then all hell seemed to let loose in October. My thoughts at the time were along the lines of 'we'll never know now just how far you could have taken us Graham'. The doom and gloom set in and then Roberto came in and after a little bedding in you could see a more adventurous style coming. Potter was excellent for us, no doubt about it. But De Zerbi, thus far, has been terrific. I love his passion compared to dour GP and his repetitive post-defeat analysis . I'm over Graham & Co going now, the shenanigans over Trossard, Caciedo and the persistent rumours. What will be will be. I'm excited by the stream of youngsters coming through, a few of whom you saw last night. I'll take anything going me, my expectations aren't that lofty really. I would have taken this season happily at the start - it's been great so far (even the day out to Forest Green Rovers in the Carabou Cup) . I would just like one European away trip, just one - then I'll be happy. 😊
  7. Well reading this thread is a nice way to pass the time on the 2nd to last leg of my journey home 🥴 I enjoyed my stay in Newcastle except for the first half last night. 2nd half (as v Everton) with the changes we improved dramatically and took the game to you I thought. Pushing up in numbers again caught us out though. Good luck for the rest of the season and look forward to watching you in Europe next year. We've still a chance just need a couple of results including something from Villa Park on the last day I think. See you next season 😊
  8. Even our fans were moaning about the trains. Unfortunately we are the mercy of one of the most incompetent train operators in Southern. When I used to use them I'd hang back, have a beer or two then saunter down straight onto a train back to Brighton. Now I get a door-to-door coach to one of my favourite micropubs in Hove. I'm usually supping at 10 to 6 on a 3pm ko. As regards the match I thoroughly enjoyed it for a 0-0.i thought the Albion should have taken all 3 points but I get that you will be annoyed at the scratching off of your 'goal'. I put that down to the new 'higher threshold' nonsense instructed to referees. I didn't see much in it to be honest (after seeing it on MotD) A decent contest but United still aren't the finished article by a long chalk and it shows (not in a really bad way, just that we know what's coming) I'm happy with our progress, we play some lovely stuff at times - a real joy to watch. I don't think we missed the to big sales either. Things are looking good for us. Still dreaming of trips to Germany, Spain or Italy without the missus 🤣 All the best for the rest of the season
  9. Indeed we were poor results-wise at home last season. We were getting sucker punched repeatedly after really wasting chance after chance. Burnley was the worst - Burnley, I ask you. But Potter has stuck to his beliefs and we look decent now. As has been said we are a very good passing side. We'll miss Cucarella but have options. I loved Bissouma, I could watch him all day but his form was up and down last season. We have Caciedo and Mwepu now who no doubt the big clubs will have already checked out. We are decent defensively and don't normally ship cheap goals. There is still a worry about scoring yet Welbeck has been a revelation. What he could have achieved at Old Trafford with decent fitness. A top player. Another hard season ahead but I'm looking forward to it with my eyes more looking up the table than down now. Only time will tell if my hopes have been misplaced
  10. It may only be 3 stops and 8 minutes but don't leave it too tight for time. Drink in one of the pubs near the station and try to keep an eye on the queue. This is a big game against a popular opponent (I can't think of better away fans to be honest) The, sun will be out so Brighton will be heaving. I'm genuinely excited about this match, I think it will be close, probably a draw but a win a win by a single goal otherwise. Like many of you I don't think you're there where you want to be yet. You need another couple of windows for Ashworth & Co to work their magic. I truly hope you make it and break the cartel up a bit. For us we hope for a steady progression that hopefully will lead to a cup win or something to give us, a European tour (I haven't got thst long left for goodness sake 😊) I hope those coming down enjoy the day at the seaside and hate the 90mind at the Amex. See you at SJP next year, can't wait
