Didn’t Ellis Short spunk many millions on them? Probably mostly on the equally many managers compensation they actually hounded out.

My impression was that Ellis was pretty generous with his money, he just made disastrous manager appointments and transfer decisions, thankfully

They still hated him for it though. Whilst we were supposed to thank Ashley for turning NUFC into a zombie club, apparently

  2. The idea that the denizens of Wearside give the slightest fuck about human rights in the middle east - or anywhere else they could actually find on a map - is hilarious.

If an Arab overlord hove into view waving vast wads of cash to lift them out of second rate obscurity, they would wank themselves silly.  Much like I did when PIF rescued us from Ashleys rotten regime.

We all know it’s got nothing to do with morals as far as they’re concerned, it’s desperation because it’s us and sour grapes because it’s not them.  Like that classy club bollocks, it’s just something to sugar the shit sandwich as we storm the upper echelons of the PL and they drift gently towards the drain.

    Its plainly not working

I think that's fair. Especially when you factor in that they're stealing Ukrainian children for re-education, committing war crimes, and many other things that seem to approximate with the rough definition of genocide.

Yes. And you could add to that annexing territory by force based on the notion of Russian-ness, looting and destruction of cultural and historical artefacts, recruitment of violent criminals into the army (which reminds me of the Dirlewanger brigade), plundering of grain stores to fund the war in ukraine, the list goes on.  And thats just the stuff we know about and without getting into the deliberate bombing of civilians or use of rape and torture. The cruelty and indiscriminate brutality of the Russians is horrifying and looks no different to what the Nazis dished out in Poland and Russia. It feels like that to me anyway.

  4. I recall Putin’s justification for the “special operation” was de-nazification of Ukraine. Based on how the Russians have behaved, I can’t see any difference between them and the Nazis, leaving aside the Holocaust of course.

  5. There cant be many professions where you’re financially rewarded for absolutely dog shit performance.

Had a quick look on some WBA forums and the comments are carbon copies of ours.  Its the same wherever he goes, this must be his last job as manager, even the most clueless owners must notice the inevitable pattern

  6. With Bruce you know, you just KNOW…. I knew he would be a disaster for us from Day 1. In retrospect I could believe that Ashley did it on purpose, the appointment and the ridiculous severance package were like his last laugh after 15 years of spite and ineptitude.

Bruce has been a fuck up most places he’s been and its no coincidence he’s widely hated by fans of his former clubs. He’s a toxic mixture of arrogance, incompetence, laziness and irresponsibility; he hides behind his status as a player and his mates in the media, but he’s a terrible manager and by all accounts a shithouse of a human being. Anybody who thinks he’s going to do a good job for their football club isn’t paying attention.

Just checked and can see we now have an autumn edition. Each season of the year this thread gets more tragic.

Tbh I had entirely missed the 20th anniversary of 9/11 because of the coverage of the Queen, I don't think it was even mentioned onthe BBC. But I'm a bit curious on whayt it's got to do with NUFC. Do they think it was masterminded by a 17 year old MBS? Talking of which, the same people's heads are going to be blown when they see this. There you go, the Queen is a paedophile supporting (actually we knew this already) terrorist sympathiser according to Mackem Logic TM

Thats not the Queen, that’s a mag looky-likey FTM

Well it's a bit of both, money invested in lessons is definitely not wasted but at the same time more modern clubs do make it much easier to hit the ball. I wouldn't advise anyone beginning to shell out a fortune on brand new clubs, you can pick up a decent set of used beginners clubs on ebay for a couple of hundred quid.

Good advice. You can then upgrade to intermediate clubs if you outgrow your starter set. I’d also recommend spending a bit of time at a driving range getting a feel for the woods and long irons if you can

I'm certainly not one for having to update my clubs every couple of years but with newer woods and a driver you will get more distance and more importantly a lot more forgiveness. Plus the clubs you have now are unlikely to be performing as well as they did when new.

But if they get you round and you're happy with them then that's the main thing.

Its a good way to spunk away lots of money quickly. The money would probably be better spent on lessons if youre a beginner.

  10. Played for 30 years or so. Still shite, hovering around 90 if I get time to play, which I dont  very often. Unfortunately its a game where you expect to play like your best round, but never do.

”A good walk ruined” just about sums it up

  11. I couldn't agree more Sammy. Surely only a matter of time in both Aussie and NZ.  I’d rather have Jonah Lomu as head of state here and he’s dead.

Chaz can stay as King in the Solomon Islands, if they want it, as long as him and his family live there.

I've mentioned it before, sometimes half seriously and usually in regards to brexit, but, this is probably the most tempted I've been to get an Irish passport, not for any European gain but just so I can mentally distance myself from the vomit inducing and almost sinister way this country is going, the BBC patently knew the queen was dead and couldn't call Charles king quick enough. To say it's been overkill is probably understating it. Their intent is to give the idea that the vast majority of this country are grieving and are 100% solidly behind the idea of a new king and it's so obvious. This is the true establishment in action and it stinks.

I’m happy to have left all of this bullshit behind tbpfh. I have dual NZ/UK citizenship so I can pretend it’s none of my business but I find the whole thing embarrassing.

My missus (who isn’t British) laps up all of this nonsense of course, but she doesn’t get the connection between the pomp and ceremony and the centuries of servility that underpin the institution and the establishment. And it’s a waste of time trying to explain it as I just end up sounding like an old grouch.

Honestly I took one look at the middle aged men in silly outfits (waving around silver pointy sticks that Ken Dodd would've been proud of) and I thought fuck this no thanks. What goes through these peoples minds…how do they take this medieval cos play nonsense seriously and look at themselves in the mirror?  Why do people turn out to cheer and wave flags for this bunch of chinless sponging invertebrates?

Tldr  They can stick their “liege lord” bollocks up their arse imo.  I’d vote for a republic tomorrow here or there given half a chance.

That fucked up game the Oirish convicts brought with them but then found the ruling types only had egg balls and cricket pitches so the cunts stuck 8 sticks in the ground and tried to call it football, you know aerial ping pong!

No one gets a holiday for the thugby league grand final, Victorian cunts!

Egg chasers, cunts the lots of them.

The goal line officials used to look like they’ve been pulled out of a butcher’s shop to help out too. Dunno if they still wear that get up?
