Joey Barton's predictable exit from Manchester City is almost complete with the England international set for a move to Sam Allardyce's new-look Newcastle. Once again this presents the opportunity for an Opta Audit to see what Barton will add to the Magpies' midfield. Newcastle failed to score in 17 of their 38 league games in 2006-07, their worst performance in Premiership history, so goals from Barton would certainly be welcome, and he scored as many as the main Newcastle central midfielders last season all by himself. Player Goals Joey Barton 6 Scott Parker 3 Belozoglu Emre 2 Nicky Butt 1 And while Allardyce will be keen to see his midfield protect the often-porous Newcastle defence, Barton's ability to get forward and shoot on sight will make him a different proposition to the likes of the now-departed Scott Parker. Player Shots On Target Joey Barton 29 Nicky Butt 2 Scott Parker 15 Belozoglu Emre 6 Furthermore, Emre's total of just six shots on target all season was an extremely poor return from the Turk. Creatively Barton also outshone the Newcastle men last season, creating four goals for low-scoring Manchester City and creating 69 other goalscoring chances. Parker came nowhere near these totals. Player Goal Assists Key Passes Joey Barton 4 69 Nicky Butt 2 10 Scott Parker 1 17 Belozoglu Emre 2 36 But if there was no downside to Joey Barton then other, perhaps bigger, clubs would surely be rivalling Newcastle for his signature, yet they are not. Barton's weakness seems to be a disciplinary one, both off the field and on it, and while none of Newcastle's central midfielders saw red in the last campaign, Barton was sent off against Sam Allardyce's Bolton and was booked on a further 10 occasions. Player Yellow Cards Red Cards Joey Barton 10 1 Nicky Butt 5 0 Scott Parker 9 0 Belozoglu Emre 6 0 Nonetheless, if his new manager can tame Barton's wild ways, then he could quickly become a redeemed man in the cauldron of north-east football.

Not really keen on a goaly being a captain tbh

I like this one

So with it looking like the current captains going to west ham who would you have to replace him? Sounds weird as Barton's our new signing but i'd go with him because he seems so have the club at heart whenever he plays. It would have been Solano if it didn't come down to age so he can be vice captain
-
To be honest he seems like lad who's keen on his football the club and the fans playing money to see players giving 100%. He just seems to have a bad temper.

The skull of missing Glasgow accountant Andrew Ramsay has been found in the Firth of Clyde, police have confirmed. Mr Ramsay was last seen on the evening of 22 February, 2006 when he was abducted from outside his home in Berryknowes Road, Cardonald. Since then, extensive inquiries were undertaken in an effort to trace the businessman. The skull was found by a fishing boat off the island of Cumbrae last month. DNA tests later confirmed its identity. Det Supt William Prendergast, of Strathclyde Police, told a news conference that there were many questions still to be answered about what happened to father-of-two Mr Ramsay. What I will say is that it is certainly an unexplained death and I am really very keen to find out what exactly has taken place William Prendergast Strathclyde Police However, he said that police were not treating the case as murder at this stage. Mr Prendergast added: "I could not stand in front of you and say that the crime we are investigating here is murder. "What I will say is that it is certainly an unexplained death and I am really very keen to find out what exactly has taken place to build up a picture so that we can bring closure to this inquiry." Mr Ramsay, 52, was handcuffed and thrown into a dark-coloured car by two men claiming to be plain-clothed fraud squad police officers. It emerged that the businessman, who had a background in accountancy but had been unemployed for six months before he vanished, was due to appear in court as a witness in a criminal trial. Strathclyde Police said Mr Ramsay's relatives have been informed of the discovery. £5,000 reward Detectives have interviewed more than 1,000 people, taken 300 statements and pursued 1,300 lines of inquiry since Mr Ramsay disappeared. They have also visited the accountant's associates in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Belgium in the hunt for a breakthrough in the case, which experienced detectives have said is one of the most frustrating they have encountered. The abduction was featured on BBC's Crimewatch programme and a £5,000 reward for information leading to his recovery was offered. The police inquiry had been scaled back in recent months due to a lack of information. Mr Ramsay was bundled into a car after returning on foot from an evening with partner Beverley Sinclair in the Quo Vadis pub in Paisley Road West, Glasgow. After visiting the G101 Off Sales shop at about 1900 BST, the couple made the short walk to his home before his abductors handcuffed him and took him away. A Honda Accord was seen travelling on Paisley Road West at Hillington Road South at about the time Mr Ramsay was last seen.

Shut the fuck up You want Liverpool to pull further away from us ?? FFS Jimbo, if you take that mentality you're life is going to be pretty complicated. If you don't like Liverpool, fine, want Milan to win. If not then stop being ridiculous, Newcastle have to suceed on their own merits (which looks a fuck of a lot more likelt today I might add). Anyway, there is a certain irony so far in that Liverpool have played better but are still on the losing team at half time. Personally though, I hope they go on to win as I would for every UK team except the ones I truely hate - Chelsea, Spurs, Rangers, and a few major hyptheticals. Well done to this man,Liverpool are run like a proper team something we need to learn from
