We were shite last night without doubt but we still should have gone through - it should never have been 4-2 in the first leg, there's was never a pen so would have made it 4-3 on aggregate. The other thing being Parkers goal which should have stood last night seeing as it wasn't off side at all and could have made it 5-3, overall although we were pants last night we were stiffed by the ref in the first leg - same old shit every year.
Looking at the team it's obvious we need a new defence, it won't happen though...

Been reading on Newsnow about us maybe being after Angel from Villa and a young lad from Leeds, Danny Rose. Don't think I'd want us to spend £9.5m on Angel but is this 16yr old Rose kid any good?

From SSN:
Glenn Roeder has warned Chelsea not to waste their time by bidding for Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor.Reports over the weekend suggested the Premiership champions are plotting a bid for the England Under 21 international in the summer.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has acknowledged a desire to sign another centre-half at the end of the season and was linked with Taylor.
But any interest in the young stopper would be given short shrift by Roeder, who is determined to keep hold of his best players.
The Newcastle manager has not fielded an enquiry from the capital and outlined his stance with regard to Taylor, and the club's other top youngsters.
"Chelsea have not been in contact with us," Roeder told the Evening Chronicle.
"No club has spoken to us about Steven Taylor, and if they did, they would be wasting their time.
"There is no chance of Taylor leaving this club while I am manager.
"We are trying to build a squad of players here, not dismantle one, and youngsters like Taylor and Charles N'Zogbia are the future."
Wouldn't be overly bothered about losing Taylor if we got a decent replacemnt but I'd be gutted if we lost Zoggy.

Sunderland to rock Newcastle with Duff offer
tribalfooball.com - March 11, 2007
Sunderland boss Roy Keane is ready to shake things up in the Northeast.
If the Black Cats win promotion, Keane is set to test Newcastle's resolve over winger Damien Duff, says the People.
Duff has great respect for his former Ireland teammate and Toon could have a battle hanging onto the ex-Chelsea man should Keane come knocking in June.
Ooo, and Tribal are usually spot on...
... hehehe

Berbatov to get his dream move to the Toon?By Bacon Sarnie - March 10 2007
Hehe, made me laugh Anywho, I was wondering if he was a Toon fan more than him actually moving this way - that Bacon Sarnie sounds like a top journo
-
Berbatov's agent said just yesterday that his client would spend at least the next Year and a half at 'Spurs, but the fear of the 'Spurs hierarchy and their fickle supporters is that he has already outgrown the North London outfit with some sublime performances since his move from Germany and that a move to a big club could come sooner rather than later.
This is where Newcastle United enter the fray, it is well documented that the North East Giants are on the look out for a target man to compliment the World Class goalscoring abilities of Owen and the impressive Martins, Berbatov could be the man the Geordies turn their attentions to given he's have a similar value to their other targets, Dean Ashton and Darren Bent.
Growing up in Bulgaria, Berbatov supported Newcastle United and as a birthday present was given a Newcastle United shirt with his name on it, could he get the ultimate Birthday present in the near future, a genuine Newcastle United Shirt with his name on it?
If Berbatov continues to perform in the same fashion over the next couple of Months, I'm sure there'll be plenty of suitors willing to take him away from a club he appears to have already outgrown, but will he get his dream move to his childhood team?
Sounds a bit iffy to me...

I'd have taken him back personally, though it would limit the development of any future back four though him being in and out the team - unless he really has put his injuries behind him.
-
I've not been as impressed with Taylor this season as I used to be, think we really need to concentrate on another decent centre half come the summer.
-
Come on Braga.
Hehe, the lad that sits behind me at work is a spuds fan, reckons Braga should be easy for them so a good result for Braga would be amusing. Spurs will fluke it though knowing them!

I think the way we played in the first half tonight only shows how poor the management team is. We've been scrambling along all season when there's clear potential.
By the very laws of probability a performance like that was well overdue.
Alternatively, you could argue that now he actually a good few players back, and has been able to work with them...
I'll be convinced if Glenn can string a few decent performances and results together. We have had terrible injury problems again this season (mainly due to the small size of the squad) but then again I still think we've had a good enough first team out most of the time to put in better performances than we have.
-
is it just me or were we not using duff enough down the left...
good result mind and if we counter attack them in the next leg i think we'll break them....
Let's hope we do break them, 2 goals is a great head start.
-
Oba deserved MoM, we played well and tbh I don't think that was a pen, deffo ball to hand, should have been 4-1 really.
Other than that though.... the ref had a good game
-
(1) Why is Carr playing? and (2) Why is Carr playing on the left?
Shoddy goal to concede but was a strong header.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOALLLLLL!!! OBA OBA MARTINS!!!

So who do you want in the summer?
And who do you think Freddy The Hut can actually attract?
I don't know to be honest. I think we will get Shearer but he would have to bring in a quality coachinf staff and get rid of what we have. I actually think the whole set up needs re structuring.
I dunno that Shearer would be a great manager (he’s completely unproven - he might be – I’d hope for this as he seems to know what he’s talking about, but he might not be - either way he'd be vastly inexperienced), but the real issue with Shearer is that I don't think he'd be daft enough to come back and manage Newcastle. I think he might do a Trevor Brooking emergency stint, but I think it would take a lot to get him back anytime soon otherwise (a Shearer/Robson managerial partnership might have been excellent but that will never happen now).
Other than that candidates of the likes of KK or SBR (or even Daglish) aren’t exactly two a penny and certainly aren’t knocking at Newcastle’s door.
You wouldn't believe who we've had interested in the managerial job... aye, righto Fred.

Tevez is cursed
Let's hope his mate that's gone to Liverpool is as well

Has anyone got a list of the main forums of other teams in the Prem? Just curious because a lot of people I know that support other teams claim they don't have a forum like ours, or at least not with the numbers we get.

Dey do der don't dey doe

Last night was a typical game from Luque for us, just didn't really get in to it and never will while he's wearing our shirt. Better to let him go because we'll never see him do anything decent consistently for us.
-
Looks like the necky French bastards are blaming it all on Manure and Manure's fans now! Calling for Manure to kicked out of the tournament, strange stance to take.
-
Totally agree. Didn't see the game, but I heard rave reports on the radio this morning. Thing is, even if he wasn't better than the likes of Lennon and SWP he should have been kept as a squad player for the wealth of experience he brought (what is it, 94 caps?). The fact that he actually is better than them makes it just a ridiculous decision from that utter fuckwit in charge of the national team.
I know people will say that it's hard to feel sorry for Beckham when he's got all that cash blah blah, but of the recent English set-up, he's the one that I've always thought was really proud to be playing for his country and didn't just see it as a footballing status symbol like some of the tossers, who I think just feel that it makes them a bigger star. So I do feel sorry for him cos I think he'll be gutted not to be getting picked any more, and not to have made it to 100 caps.
Top post, totally agree. I think Maclaren's a prat, just trying to put his own mark on the team instead of using the best resources available. I can't fathom why the FA thought it was a good idea to put him in charge of the national team, there were better choices avaiable than that useless shite. What makes it worse is it's making it look like Sven did more than he actually did by Maclaren making the team look so bad!
-
I must need the strongest medication then because I wanted them all to fail apart from Man Utd, I can't stick Chelski, The Arse or the Bin dippers. And I'm not too bothered about Celtic, they're some Scottish pub team aren't they? ( )
... wish we were still able to compete in the Champs League

I'm not so sure, for all we know Shearer could be the reason Rodent did so well prior to being offered the manager position fully from being a caretaker. To be honest out of the two I'd rather have Shearer in charge, at least he has some passion and authority about him.
