  1. Barton offered new deal / accepted then declined / basket case tbf

Nolan offered new deal / wanted more and club probably right not to offer big long deal to potential bench warmer given they had Cabaye lined up.

All very good points, but they're just not true. Barton wanted a longer contract on lower wages. The club stopped all negotiations way before Barton let loose on twitter.

Nolan had a agreed a contract, but the club changed their offer when he had to put pen to paper.

There are two sides to those stories and you seem to believe the ones that have admitted to the fact, that they have lied to the public about their dealings.

    Incorrect.

Bartons own agent said Barton had agreed to sign then changed his mind. I'll repeat.....Bartons agent.

He was also the same agent that was called in to a meeting, only to be let know, that there wouldn't be any further discussions after they wanted a longer contract

  3. Personally I rate Bendtner despite the fact many think he's shite, but he isn't coming here unless we completely change the current transfer policy.

Bendtner is decent and has massive potential. Unfortunately he's deluded and a major sulk. He hasn't delivered in more than 3 years now. He'd be a handful for any manager, and it'll bound to go wrong if he came to Newcastle - unless he gets his head out of his arse

  4. Barton: Turns down January contract and spends six months slagging off employers.

Turns down January contract when he has concerns regarding the direction of the club. When his concerns are found to be well warranted and he calls the owners out on it, instead of responding appropriately they offer him up for free because it's easier to do.

Barton turned down the initial offer in January. He wanted a longer contract, out of respect for his family, and were willing to take a paycut. The club didn't comeback with another offer, and when they finally did sit down again, it was only so that the club could tell Barton and his representatives, that there would be any deals.

Only after that did Barton start voicing his opinion on twitter. He had said something before, to the media. Simpson, Routledge and Enrique also voiced their concern with the club. And Barton didn't slag the off. He voiced his concerns, but did it in a civil manner. He didn't call anyone a cunt or twat. He might have been out of order doing so, but he attacked the way they conduct business, and not the ones that conducted business.

Barton didn't need to orchestrate a way out of his contract. Newcastle did that for him, when they said they wouldn't negotiate anymore.

  5. Days after the Murdoch hearing in England, journalist called kids trying to flee and hide from the gunman on Utøya. I'm completely lost for words, on how a journalist can think it's okay to call up people, teenagers, for eyewitness accounts, while they are running for their lives.

  6. Newcastle ace Cheick Tiote signs new deal

CHEICK TIOTE today handed Newcastle United a major boost by committing his future to the black and whites until 2017.

The Ivory Coast told the Chronicle on February 9 that he was desperate to stay on Tyneside despite major interest from Chelsea with the battling midfielder’s outstanding form impossible not to notice this season.

The African has been a contender for player of the season at St James’ Park since arriving from FC Twente in the summer in a £3.5million deal which is now looking like a real snip.

And a delighted Tiote said today: "I am very happy today to have signed this new deal with Newcastle United.

"The experience of playing in the Premier League has been better than I ever hoped it could be.

"This is a great club and the fans have been brilliant - I have never known support like it.

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has always made it clear he wanted to keep Tiote and added: "Cheick has been immense for us this season and is exactly the type of player I want in my squad.

"He is fantastic on the pitch and in the changing room and is vital for everything we want to achieve.

"Cheick offers us strength and presence in midfield and has proved himself to be one of the best in his position in the Premier League.

"He's adapted brilliantly to the English game and I'm delighted he's signed a new deal with us today."

  7. Boss picks up pieces and eyes Carlton Cole

    * by Lee Ryder, Evening Chronicle

    * Feb 1 2011

ALAN PARDEW has vowed to battle on without Andy Carroll after losing his 11-goal top scorer to Liverpool.

The Newcastle United boss did not have enough time to conjure up a replacement for the Geordie striker before the transfew window closed.

But the Chronicle understands that Pardew may be interested in bringing in West Ham United striker Carlton Cole in the summer.

However, while Newcastle fans ponder a future without their talisman No 9, Pardew today gave his insight on the £35million deal that rocked football.

He told the Chronicle exclusively: “There was an offer refused in the morning and then we received a second improved offer.

“Myself, Mike Ashley and Derek Llambias were having a discussion when Andy Carroll poked his head around the door and said he wanted to see me.

“I had the conversation with Andy.

“He said he wanted a new contract now that would make him the highest paid player at the club.

“This from a guy who had signed a new deal just a few months ago.

“I asked him what he wanted but he didn’t reply.”

Pardew was left to assess his options going into tomorrow night’s trip to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham, with Shola Ameobi and Leon Best in the frame to lead the line in the capital.

Nile Ranger and Peter Lovenkrands will also be keen to stake a claim and, going forward, Phil Airey – currently nursing a hamstring injury – will hope to follow in the footsteps of fellow Academy product Carroll.

But while Pardew insisted from the first day in the job that did not want to sell, he feels the implications of Carroll smashing the club’s wage structure would not have been the right move for the Magpies.

He said: “We did not want to do anything to destabilise the club.

“Derek contacted Andy’s agent and said that if he wants to go we need a written transfer request, which he gave us.

“It was fairly evident once that came in we would have to accept the offer, but still at that point he didn’t have to go.

“My job now is to take this club forward with out him.”

Departing Spanish striker Xisco has reflected on his loan move to Deportivo la Coruna.

The £5.6m player said: “It is a pity that things didn’t work for me in England.”

  8. Pardew breaks silence on Carroll sale

Move ... Andy Carroll broke the transfer record for a British player yesterday.

    By MILES STARFORTH

Published on Tue Feb 01 10:22:37 GMT 2011

ALAN Pardew today hit back at Andy Carroll’s claim he was forced out of St James’s Park.

And Newcastle United’s manager also insisted he has been promised that Carroll’s £35m-plus fee will be reinvested in the team by owner Mike Ashley.

Carroll last night completed a transfer deadline day move to Liverpool after handing in a written transfer request.

But the striker told friends in a series of texts he didn’t want to leave Newcastle – and had been forced out because the United “wanted the money”.

However, Pardew says Carroll – who signed a new long-term contract in October – approached him about a new contract after training, and handed a transfer request in when the club baulked at renegotiating his deal so soon after it was signed.

Asked about Carroll’s texts, Pardew told the Gazette: “What can I say? We didn’t force anybody to leave.

“I disagree with that point. He had a contract here for five years, and at some point it would get renewed, but for him to sign in October and it get renewed in January – where would it stop?

“Personally, I’m disappointed. He’s a lovely lad, and I really like him, but it was his decision, and you can’t change that.

“Was this about football? That’s what you have to ask. I don’t think it was.”

Liverpool moved for Carroll after Chelsea hardened their interest in Fernando Torres, who last night joined Chelsea in a British-record £48m deal.

Pardew went on: “We turned down a big offer, and they came back with a second big offer.

“We were having a discussion about what we were going to do with that offer when Andy requested to see me.

“I went to see Andy, and face to face we had a conversation about him wanting a new contract, even though he signed on in October, and (he said) if he didn’t get that contract, he wanted go.

“I asked him what he wanted, and I went to the board. We had a discussion about what the ramifications would be for the whole club.

“We took the view, with him signing a contract in October, that this would cause us all sorts of problems.

“We decided that we needed the conversation confirmed, and he put in a transfer request, which he did.

“He spoke to his agent, and between them they put the request in. We decided with the size of the offer, and what it meant to us, that we would accept.”

Pardew – who “guaranteed” Carroll wouldn’t be sold after succeeding Chris Hughton in December – was unable to bring in a replacement given the last-minute nature of the deal, which was confirmed less than an hour before transfer-window deadline.

With Wayne Routledge and Xisco having left on loan, and only Stephen Ireland having signed, Pardew’s squad is significantly weaker than it was a month ago.

However, Pardew has taken Ashley’s assurances that the fee will be spent on players in the summer, and beyond, at face value.

“We weren’t expecting him to go, so we weren’t in a position to replace him,” added Pardew.

“One thing I can guarantee, having spoke to Mike Ashley, is that every penny will go back into the club. Mike’s assured me he won’t take a penny out of the transfer.”

And asked about his repeated assurances that Carroll wouldn’t be sold, Pardew said: “We never put him up for sale – we fended off a bid from another Premiership club.

“But no club’s about one player. We’re absolutely gutted that he’s gone. It’s disappointing, but we’re not in a financial position like Liverpool.”

  9. Have they given any reason? Not that it matters I'm just happy for the fat cunt, the less the world sees of his brand of football the better!

The Venky's Group, owners of Blackburn Rovers Football Club, has today confirmed the departure of manager Sam Allardyce and assistant manager Neil McDonald withimmediate effect.

First team coaching duties will be taken on by Steve Kean (currently 1st team coach) for the immediate future.

We have taken this decision as part of our wider plans and ambitions for the club. We would like to put on record our thanks to Mr Allardyce for his contribution to Blackburn Rovers Football Club.

  10. And another saying that despite the broken leg he still sat up and waved to the fans! If he did, the guy has some guts, most people would crying with the pain i'd imagine.

Whole of stadium was applauding him, when he was stretchered off. He took of the oxygen mask, and put his hand up and waved at everyone.

  11. Would be a great fit. Will piss off Ameobi and P-Loven tho..

Donkey really needs to move on and Lovenkrands is a puff and shouldn't expect to be more than a squad player.

Can u not see Lovenkrands heading to Bolton or someone tho and nabbing 10/12 goals in the season?

I don't think Løvenkrands has any plans on moving on, if he fails to get a starting place. I think his thoughts are on family stability, after a couple of turbulent years. And he seems to love the area.

I think if we're doing ok (mid-table) he'd be quite happy being a squad player / impact sub here. That's about his level anyway.

If he finds some of his former self, i think he might have a bit to offer. But unfortunately, like so many others, bad decisions and injuries have put him back quite alot.

Also, he could provide some cover for the wings also. He was never a forward when playing for Denmark

  13. Manchester United and Liverpool linked with Newcastle target Hatem Ben Arfa

By SPORTSMAIL REPORTER Last updated at 10:40 AM on 24th August 2010

Hatem Ben Arfa has been linked with a shock move to Manchester United or Liverpool.

The Marseille playmaker has been offered a deal by Werder Bremen and a 'top Premier League club' - which his agent Michel Ouazine indicated was not Newcastle United.

The Geordies wanted to take the France international on a season-long loan, but angered Marseille with their offer.

Big guns: Arfa could be heading for Manchester United or Liverpool

Bremen had a £6.6million bid for Ben Arfa accepted after selling Mesut Ozil to Real Madrid, but the player's stock has risen since an impressive performance and goal for France in their 2-1 defeat by Norway earlier this month.

Ouazine said the identity of the English team making a move would be a 'big surprise', with reports in France suggesting either Liverpool or Manchester United would be the ones making the bid.

Sir Alex Ferguson is believed to be a long-term admirer of the 23-year-old, who has also been offered to Everton and other Premier League teams this summer.

'Negotiations are continuing,' said Ouazine. 'We are finalising the contract.'

Ben Arfa comes with issues. He is currently refusing to play for Marseille in a bid to force a move and is training alone away from his employers.

like you can trust a statement from an agent of a player in Ben Arfa’s position a few days before the transfer deadline?

I'd imagine, that if Manchester Utd was in for him, that deal would've be done and sorted ages ago.
