It's all about the controller, I know, I know, but some of these are nothing short of laughable tbh. (From Gamespot). Certainly nothing the Gamecube or Xbox couldn't do. In fact the Far Cry shots look worse than the Xbox version. I hope the final graphics are better than these.

Like I say, these codec packs caused problems for me, and I didn't like the fact I couldn't just upgrade one of them when it became available. I agree that they're a good solution for beginners though.

Xvid is smaller, open source and is the standard format used by rippers these days. It can read DivX anyway. DivX is the original, official, fat version.

Ace-Mega is shit purely on account of it's name. Anyway, if you get Xvid you don't need Divx...

The threat of a clip was always enough for me as a kid. My Mum once took the 'i'll wash your mouth out with soap and water' to a literal level though - I didn't do it again! Looking back they aways used the threat of no Christmas presents too, like Monster says, that made me think.

DON'T get Divx. Get Xvid instead.

I stay away from codec packs; they fucked my PC last time. Get this: http://www.headbands.com/gspot/gspot221.rar and extract into a folder somewhere. Run gspot.exe, load the file and it will tell you which particular codecs you need. They are all free, just google them. EDIT - this only works for .avi files... You should still get it though.
