1. Fuck sake! If you want a forum where everyone agrees, good luck. This can be a dull place at the best of times. If you want to have a closed shop where you all agree, just fucking text each other or go down the pub. This forum has potential but drop the bloody closed mindedness! Sheesh!
2. Is lame. And you know it. Insults go both ways, if you don't like them then don't dish them out.
3. Wow, you're dead different and original. Write something about it on your schoolbag so everyone knows. 42161 Nope, just speaking up for what I believe in. You should try it if you have any balls. Now get on with your dull day. 42167 Righto Chesney. 42170 No problem Tim 42173 Not bad. Surely Brent would have been a better insult though. 42175 No, Brent has a personality! Chesney was good though!

5. Yes, but that's a bit vague is it not? I wouldn't consider not laughing at racism, terrorism and paedophilia as being particularly weird. You do realise that's Bernard Manning's defence don't you? 42163 I agree with you actually and I did at the time. You've made this point enough times though surely? 42165 I get asked the questions, and I answer them. I'm not trying to repeat myself but on this subject, we don't seem to be able to disagree respectfully.

8. No we just disagree....... Thanks for the unnecessary crap guys! You didn't let me down You're really not good at opinions outside the pack are you.
9. No, I just find it odd to hear a joke about it one day and a link to a catastrophe the next. It seems (to me) that one of them has to be insincere. I don't honestly think that people here do think it's funny so I find it really strange that there are jokes about it. My problem as I've said before is with the jokes themselves. And sorry, but I don't buy the "coping" theory.
10. Yes they are. How can you reasonably claim that the jokes in thread were posted in order for you all to be able to "cope"? 42130 I didn't say it would help me cope, I said they were a coping mechanism. People don't want to dwell on terrible events, so they do what they can to lessen the terrible extent of the event by making jokeas bout it. You can debate the right and wrong of this of course I agree, but I'm just saying it's what British people have always done. 42138 Yes, but you can't say that excuses ALL jokes, can you? Is nothing off limits? I seem to have a lower threshold of what I find distasteful than most people here. Also you must agree that this nation has lived in relative comfort and security for 60 years. I can't see how any of us here can say we've needed this type of humour to cope with our situation. Also I don't think my elderly neighbours (who lived through the war) would find any of these jokes funny. I think we've become addicted to the "shock factor" of these jokes.
11. No, I'm just voicing an opinion that most people here disagree with. I just don't understand the two actions side by side and wanted to know the motive. As it turns out, it's a fairly interesting debate when you take away the insults. You may disagree, but isn't that what this part of the forum is for? 42132 I actually think that some jokes about events, especially just after they've happened can be a bit 'close to the bone'. However I think it's 'idiotic' to use your phrase to assume that someone making this kind of joke, or laughing at it, thinks people being killed in terrorist attacks is funny. I wouldn't agree it's an interesting debate though, you've made the same point, in several threads, several times iirc. 42135 Ok so we disagree, I made my point and I stand by it.

14. Get the fuck out of here.... Read the title of the thread those jokes were posted in. Just because people pass on a joke, doesn't mean that they're not affected by events that take place... Get a grip! 42065 If you can't understand how idiotic it is to simultaneously make light of an event and then say how awful it is then you're beyond stupid. I asked catmag (not you) a civil question. No need for your pathetic attack on me.
15. How very dare you! Re Ron Atkinson: Did anyone see Balls of Steel on Friday night? The look on his face when that lass told him she had a present for him, rummaged around in her bag, and produced her middle finger right in his face was priceless. When he then asked what that was supposed to be and she said "It's my finger. Do you like it?" I thought he was going to batter her. 42039
16. I'm not offended at all because I know that cracking a bit of a smile at a contraversial joke doesn't make me the worst person in the world! Anyway, I'm off to save some lives. I'll try to resist making sick jokes about my patients while I'm there 42034 Well cheers for that catmag... I was gracious enough to try and consider if I'd upset you and apologised.
17. Do you get this yet? I normally wouldn't rub it in when someone ends up looking a bit silly in a thread, but you were trying particularly hard to patronise me before I had to spell out this most simple of concepts to you. 42029 When the event is real, I can't find the joke funny. If you're able to separate the two, then that's your right. It doesn't mean these jokes don't offend people though and I'd be surprised if you'd tell these "harmless" jokes to the families of victims. The things that YOU find acceptable may not be acceptable to others. The "warning" on the thread was as effective a caveat as Ron Atkinson's "I've got some black friends" line. Is Ron Atkinson racist? In my opinion- no probably not. Was what he said ok? Well I think we know the answer to that. As for being patronsing, well I think we both did our share of that.
18. My dark humour isn't confined to my work :duuno: If you find all un-PC jokes offensive, then don't read the threads and don't judge others for having made them or responded to them - people are free to react how they do to things and they all have a concept where it would be inappropriate to do so. It doesn't make them the scum of the earth. Have you no friends that have ever cracked a sick joke down the pub? Are you still friends with them or did you think "that's disgusting, I don't want to be around someone like you " 42028 I DO say to my friends when I don't like a joke, but to be quite honest, my friends don't really tell those kind of jokes. Also I'm not judging you, I was asking a reasonable question and I appreciate your responses. It's not a minority view IMO, I know barriers get broken down all the time, but sometimes we can look back and say when things go to far. Obviously we have different opinions that's all really. If I've offended you then I apologise. The people climbing out of the woodwork to have a pop clearly have a different agenda.
19. 42023 Didn't say I was.... The jokes you make on your shift are a coping mechanism for the grim realities of your job. The jokes about terrorism, racism and paedophilia were not serving the same purpose. They were designed to "entertain" and shock. That's my fundamental point but I agree, we are going round in circles.
20. Man, just shut the fuck up already. And before you reply... <------------- That badge is there for a reason. You will not win. Now fuck off. 42019 Steve. You're a fucking moron. Good luck with your sad forum "status".
21. Your good work as a nurse doesn't have anything to do with jokes about terrorism. I'm very well aware of the humour used by people in the medical profession to cope with the grim realities of the job. The big difference to me here is that the sick joke thread was made PURELY for titilation. I obviously still have a lot of friends in London and I worry about them.
22. I have answered the question. Read the post about Billy Connolly. Generally speaking, I think that it is possible to have different reactions to an event- humour is a natural coping mechanism. It's a question of taste though. Posting sick jokes on an internet forum then shedding crocodile tears about the same event is a bit strange in my view. 42010 Sorry, but if you can't respond with a simple "Yes" to the question I asked you, then it proves that all you were trying to do was to point-score in a thread in which people are expressing sympathy and upset about people dying. Which is further supported by you now accusing someone of shedding crocodile tears. Hope it made you feel good though. 42011 I'll make it easy as you are struggling to grasp the concept. Laughing because someone falls over and hurts their arm, gets up and shrugs it off is one thing. Laughing because someone falls over and cracks their head open and needs hospital treatment is another. Laughing because someone falls over and cracks their head open and needs hospital treatment and then telling everyone how awful they think it is, is another thing again. Do you now understand my point? The people who tell racist jokes here and then try and say how unracist they are, are the most cowardly, ignorant deluded people I can think of.
