  1. Gullit had had success (not as much as Rafa or Sir Bob but he had been doing well up to coming here) and Dagleish had won the league with his previous two clubs. Both of those appointments seemed great at the time but soon turned to shite. So whilst I will be very happy if we get Benitez, I'm not going to make any predictions of success.
  2. It must be clear to everyone that we need to spend in the summer so I don't think that would be a major stumbling block to any appointment. Who has the say on who we buy will be the issue.
  3. Ryder reckons he left the wirral at five this morning to come here. Looks like we're making the fucker bike it. Trying to save up for his contract clearly!
  4. Thank fuck for that. This shambles needs to be brought to an end and if it's done so with Rafa coming in I'll be a lot happier than I expected to be.
  5. Yeah the only thing worse than them backing McClaren til the end of the season would be to make it look like they had some play to improve us and then pulling the rug from underneath it.
  6. It really could hardly be more shambolic than it's been. He's going to be here for the rest of the season isn't he.
  7. Of course it is. My point was thought that their app doesn't usually flash up when you've not it open unless they have something more firm.
  8. Sky sports has just flashed up on my phone that we're in advanced talks with Rafa. That's usually reserved for proper news rather than conjecture. Still not convinced.
  9. This. It's the worst thing to happen to football since the Bosman ruling. Dull gutless football is basically what it has resulted in. Give me four four fucking two any day. Oh and Henry Winter is a cunt too.
  10. He just repeats what's in the papers but makes out he's got some inside information. Like I said, he' says it with confidence as if it's fact. Of course sometimes he's right but he's not reliable.
  11. Balague states everything as if it's fact but talks shit most of the time.
  12. Aye they're taking the piss out of him but he's getting a shit load of money for taking it. I'm embarassed by the piss poor way they are conducting the clubs business again but I can't see any reason to feel sorry for a man who's going to get a pay off amounting to more than I'll ever earn.
  13. I know what you're saying but I actually think it's because our kids these days are being trained to be clones of Anita. Players who are tidy on the ball and pass it about from side to side. I was at a function with Frank Stapleton a few weeks ago and he said that was a reason why there was so few home grown players coming though these days. They are taught to just keep possession and avoid being any sort or maverick who actually do something special. Clearly we are poor even within that framework mind.
  14. Awful player. I bet there's kids in our hopeless reserves who could do just as much as he does.
  15. If we'd invested after finishing fifth instead of only bringing in dross like Anita, we'd have been in a much better position to keep cabaye, Ba and Debuchy (further down the line). The biggest mistakes have obviously been made at the highest level.
  16. I'll agree with Perez and Tiote (in the same way as Cisse) but Sissoko has not been a success. You can blame whatever factors you want but five good games a season (max) is not a success whichever way you look at it. I was tempted with Ben Arfa but at the end of the day his lack of consistency and the way he left meant that I couldn't justify him as a success. Abeid is and always will be a very average player. He's not really a failure since we paid next to nothing and sold him for a million or so but don't try and tell me that a player who managed 21 games in all competitions for us in four years was a success. And yes you could look at retention the way you have but players are always going to move on and we probably would have never been able to sign those players without promising them moves when they wanted anyway.
  17. I'm of half a mind to say that Carr is as much to blame as the managers but on the whole I'd probably agree with the line of responsibility you have there. I do think that he plays more of a part in our policy than you admit to and I'm not convinced we've had more hits than misses. Hit's I would go with Cabaye, Ba, Mbemba, Cisse (just about), Debuchy, Janmaat, Remy and Gini. I'm not convinced there's a good case for any of the rest to be called a success.
  18. You may as well have. He seems beyond criticism. I'm not for one minute layinig all of the blame at his door but he's a big part of the problem.
  19. Chatty man is enough of a reason to sack him on it's own to be honest.
  20. Aye, he might be being made to look daft but the millions will more than make up for it.
