Possibly but Compton and Cook opening? Think I'd rather have a more positive player with Cook. Of course if Hales keeps getting out for nothing then you're virtually left with Cook and Compton by default. Or one of them with Root with 30 on the board as quite often happens.

I think they'll stick with Hales and Compton for the May matches at least. You've only got to look at players like Voges for Australia to see how keeping faith with a player after he's had a relatively poor series can be rewarded (admittedly he's only done it at home so far). Plus as you suggest there's a lack of real standout options (Stoneman or Ballance again maybe).

I thik Butler as keeper and Bairstow as specialist batsman is the most likely at this stage. But Roy has improved quite at bit at first class level over the last season or two. And Bell hit a century the other day.

Well Taylor is doing his best to not get a contract but it wouldn't surprise me if he's already agreed one. I think Mbemba is a good player but he came for decent money and I'm not sure anyone will pay what we would demand.

Enrique wasn't as bad as a lot of people seem to remember. The second half of the relegation season he was probably our best player (obviously that's not saying a great deal) after Bassong's form dipped. He really hit his stride in the Championship but he wasn't near as bad as Colo was. Not that this detracts from you point which I agree with. The last relegation season was just as devoid of leaders as this.

Rafa has come with us looking odds on for relegation. Of course he probably won't stay but none of us thought we could attract someone like him anymore. We will still be able to attract more than you think. I do agree that the problems in the club run far deeper though. We desperately need to get shot of Penfold and get someone in who's capable of leading the club.
