What am i not allowed to give my opinion? I didn't say you couldn't, it's just clear you know fuck all about football and come across as a retard. I feel the same about you and tbh it sounds like your footballing brain is rather shit. You doubt smith and parker and label them shit becuase they are grifters. Im quite sure that when Scott Parker was our captain you were singing his praises. http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/...p?topic=32973.0 Cannot access it as im not a member not can i be bothered to read

aahh welcome to Toontastic. lol

Passion, energy, vision, heading, passing, crossing, tackling. What about Emre, or Dyer? Why change the subject to Emre and Dyer? Passion he has, he also has energy, his vision is piss poor which is why he hardly makes any killer passes, his passing is is always kept simple so I wouldn't call that a strong aspect of his game, I can't say I've seen any great crosses from him and his tackling is on par with Parker's as in it's reckless rather than good. It's not changing the subject - it's comparing him to the 2 players who he's likely to be challenging for a place in the team. I'm not saying that Smith is the player to get us the title - I'm saying he's good enough to play in the first 11 (of a pretty poor team if you go by last season). Smith actually had a 1 goal in every 2 games record when he started at Man United. At Leeds, he had more assists in Viduka's 1st season than Harry Kewell, so you can hardly say he had no vision. Oh by the way, he got 9 goals in 16 games in his first season, before getting injured. So tell me where he's going to fit into our first team then? Up front over Owen, Martins or Viduka? In midfield over Butt, Geremi, Emre, Barton, Dyer? yeah he would start over emre, dyer and butt

How is that childish? I just mean that you've already made your mind up on Smith, and nothing he does will change that. Correct? I've gave my opinion on him as a player similar to how I've done over all of our new signings, that doesn't mean my opinion can't change if he performs for us, the same way as my opinion could change to think Barton is a shit signing if he doesn't perform for us. To say I'd still think he's shit if he scored 30 goals in the next 10 game is complete shite. OK then; what do you need to see from Smith for your opinion of him to change? Obviously his pace will not increase too much, so what else can he do? Depends where he plays. If he's up front I want him to score goals as well as get assists, link the play up well and go about creating space for his strike partner. If he's in midfield I don't want to see him giving stupid freekicks away because of reckless challenges, be involved in the build up play and look to work on his passing game, I want him to get past players and set up attacks, most important thing is to chip in with goals. Personally I wouldn't have him anywhere near the starting 11 as I've seen nothing of him in the past 4 years to suggest he can do a job for us anywhere apart from the odd bright performance. Your last sentence is kinda the point I was trying to make though. Personally, I say that I've seen enough of Emre in a Newcastle shirt to know that he shouldn't be in the starting 11. I also think that, if he stays, Dyer has never shown the consitency we require. It looks like it will be a choice between those 3 players for a place in the team, and I'd much rather have Smith than the other 2. I take it you didn't watch Newcastle when we finished 4th, 3rd and 5th if you think Dyer has never been consistent for us. Emre plays alot deeper but is a far better centre mid than Smith. I've been one of his biggest fans (Dyer by the way) but despite him being a threat, he's never been consistent through an entire season (especially in the last 5 years). What has Emre done at this club to show he's better than Smith? I really can't understand what fans see in Emre which makes them think he's good enough. Gives the ball away more than any player in the Premiership. Emre has played well when he hasn't had that useless shite Scott Parker next to him, in fact all of our team seemed to improve when he wasn't playing. Im sorry that's unwarranted. Scott Parker was idolised by many when he was at newcastle and suddenly he decides to leave and they hate him. He gave more effort than any player in our squad for the last two seasons and i know effort can only get you so far but he certainly went up in my estimations when he played for us. As for Emre, thinks hes min gattuso, all he can do is hold the ball up and have a good pop every now and then. He barely deserves a place in our squad let alone the starting 11. When everyone is fit i will be surprised to see him in the 16 for a saturday afternoon.

To even mention Smith in the same breath as Giggs is ridiculous. Alex Ferguson has bought plenty of shit players in the past, if he thought Smith was that good a striker he would have never switched him to midfield in the first place, he only done that to cover to other bad buys in Kleberson and Djemba Djemba. Like I say, 2 goals in 53 games for an attacking midfielder/striker is shocking and I couldn't care less how much he gets stuck in, I like how you and Gemmill seem to question peoples opinions on Smith by saying they haven't seen much of him but it's enough for the pair of you to call him a good player. He switched Smith to midfield because rooney and van nistelrooy were stars ans im not saying he's a class striker im saying hes a gd player in whatever position he plays and whens he playing well you can really notice his footballin talent. Most of the time smith played defensive mid to allow ronaldo and co to push forward. Not many defensive mids score a handful of goals.

Anyone who watched the game today would see we were crying out for someone like Dyer in the first half. Possibly the slowest team I've ever seen tbh. that's what worries me about replacing dyer with smith. not a lot of pace in midfield anymore. don't give a shit how we play football at the moment as long as we win. Smith gave his all, Dyer didn't and when nzogbia gets back into left mid and with martins and owen we have pace You don't care how we play? If we went out with a team like that against Bolton we wouldn't create fuck all, do you remember what we were like in the first few seasons Robson was in charge? We had decent players but with little pace in the squad it meant we always struggled to create chances. Grafters like Smith will only get you so far. Agreed. He'll get us to the next level, when we can start looking at the top European players again. Until we reach that point, we have to buy players of his type. Grafters like smith? Don't think sir alex saw it that way, Smith is talented and much more than a grafter. Yes we may need some pace injected in the team but Smith is a top player and that's why he was invested in at manc u

OMG i never thought i would hear anyone say that during my lifetime. You have guts but i still think injuries will prevent us finishing 5th Maybe it's about time people started to keep on saying this. You never know,it might come true. gabrielle would agree with that, dreams can come true

agreed especially in BS first season. Top 8 seems a dead cert tho at the moment

The real question is does the twat really want to move that much, i understand there will be scpetics about the contract and yes he does require 2million, but surely his family is more important and hel get a signing on bonus at west ham. He has to get his priorities right

haha like the carr comment there

Totally agree - no one wins on this one so from our point of view, it have been better just to pay it and he'd be gone. If he stays another 12 months we'll have paid him that in wages anyway and we'll not be able to command a transfer fee anywhere near as high as we can now.. As I said, we might not see it as morally correct, but it IS his entitlement. If you were leaving your job and you had the contractual right to a 'pay off', i'm pretty sure you wouldn't ignore it either. Thing is we should just pay it tbh - all that's going to happen is we'll end up with a player on our books who doesn't want to be here. His contract is reducing and the amount of money we'll be able to command for him will reduce likewise. Alternatively he could put in a transfer request (if he really wants to go) or just waive said fee. Paying him another £2m is insane IMO. Again, put yourself in his shoes - would you waive your right to a years salary that you were contractly entitled to?? no-ones doubting that it is his right, he's jus stating the point we shouldn't pay him it because he doesn't deserve it and in fairness the fee we would recieve from keiron would only be 3m when u take of the 2m for his loyalty payment. Thats absolutely bollocks for an england international albiet not a full one.

He's pissed. So's Martins by the looks of things. so is big sam, bringing ramage on hes not mortal yet, he didnt bring pattison or troise on oh fuck me lol if he brings fattison on hes really has overstepped the mark. Pattison is shite, should go to spurs that fat lazy prick Why? Because they don't do running there precisely lol plus he would be a great rival to jol's pie eating contest now that mido's pissing off. Jol feels theres no competition for his crown Jol is no competition for Fattison oh you would be surprised. Looks can be decieving and in jol's case that comment i just made means fuck all, because he looks like a fat ugly bold bastard (fuckin dr evil of austin powers) and i reckon he would take fattison to the cleaners or rather the bakery.
-
i trust big sam to work his magic and sign the player. If not buy kolo toure lets hope so, if not then ayee he could easily persuade Kolo Toure to join us. yeah maybe we could quadruple his wages lol give him dyer's wages that would be timesing his wages by 10 lol
