  1. There is, but the only way that players like Bigi and Haidara are going to improve is through playing games at the top level so it's quite a conundrum. Those two to me have both looked capable when they have played. Haidara particularly interests me in that he's got a strong left foot which none of our other fullbacks have. This makes him more likely to take on his man out wide when overlapping - something that Santon or Jonas rarely do. Bigi seems to be well disciplined in his passing - kind of how Tiote was when he first joined.
  2. No need for the racism CT! A proud part of me says no to Remy, but the rest of me says yes please. He is a bit of a crock though, so with our luck we'll sign him and he'll get injured in a pre-season friendly.
  3. Hard to take them seriously when they say we do finished 6th two seasons ago.
  4. This appears to be the clubs way of making any signing seem like a bonus. At the start of the window there was an expectation that three or four signings were necessary, then with the inactivity people were reassessing the existing first team and deciding that one or two will be enough, now there's more talk of the younger players coming through and a hope that a striker gets bought. By the end of the window they'll be expecting rejoicing in the terraces when few players get sold.
  5. He suffered as a result of being in an inderperforming team, lost interest in a similar fashion to Coloccini in the second part of his first season with us. If we can have a settled back four his defense will pick up. At the right age for his positional sense to improve also.
  6. The accommodation is great value in Vegas. I didn't gamble at all when there. Could have easily spent the whole time in our suite, but also wanted to see some of the many shows that are on.
  7. Can someone lock this thread please.
  8. I also rate it highly, but I only watched the abridged version on google images.
  9. I may have missed something... but what does the Catholic Church have to do with this?
  10. D'uh. Shame that's not why Cisse is offside much of the time.
  11. Noone would be surprised if that was the case.

    bad backs

I tweaked my back playing football over the weekend. Foolishly played on for much of the match. Felt progressively worse through the early evening and overnight had a horrible sleep where just about every move was agony. Just when you think you've figured out how to roll over without pain you get that horrible intense pain that requires you to swear your way through the rest of the manouvre that you would normally do without even thinking about. The following morning lay in bed for a while as still as possible feeling sorry for myself. Had some mild painkillers and got up and about and that seemed to actually help with things. A few days on now and it's stil not right but is getting better. I'll be giving football a miss for this week at least, feel sorry for anyone that suffers chronic back pain like that. It was absolutely horrible and completely debilitating.
  13. This would have to be our quietest window in terms of media speculation in some time. What that says to me is that the media have moved on from caring about the dealings of Newcastle United. To what extent do others think this is down to our owners and their stance with the media as opposed to our lessening profile in the league?
  14. Spurs have/had a glut of players across several positions even with loads out on loan.
  15. Further to my earlier comments it did actually build some decent atmosphere towards the end. The lunch break came at the wrong time for Australia. Would have been a great one to win, but no shame in losing it particularly given the circumstances.
  16. Crazy that in a sport like cricket where everything happens so slowly that major umpiring/refereeing stuff can still happen, and even worse can still so drastically affect the result of what is really the premier competition of the sport.
  17. That was last season.
  18. I did, after giving it away many years ago. It sounded like it should have been an exciting final day, but alas no (not because Australia is on the edge of defeat).
  19. Have you watched him play often? Much of the time when he's offside there no legitimate reason for it.
  20. As much as an admission of their incompetence as we'll get.
  21. Just finished s3 of the Sopranos, and as expected very much enjoying it.
  22. Great news, well done to you and more so your fairer half. Being a Dad is great.
