Aye, when the cold wet winter games set in and I have to feign match attendance while instead snuggling up in a nice warm pub, burger and chips on knee in front of a nice roaring open fire.

My last scarf was probably in the 70's or 80's and I think it was a yellow number with longish tassles. Im going to buy a couple tomorrow and hope that it takes off.

I agree. It's easy to be cynical about this sort of thing, but anything that helps restore a cracking atmosphere is worth a shot.

Oh dear you tedious little man. You dont quite get how forums work do you? 363 posts, none of them entertaining and most of them tedious and predictable as fuck. I might rub a few people up the wrong way but at least I try and put some effort into the place. Can I suggest you crawl your dreary little arse back under whichever rock you crawled out of.

Im sure SJH has the original, if not framed, in the loft. I might see if I can dig out his reply. Was on nice paper. -

I do every year. And my contributions to it were definitely footy related. -
Im not too sure what other option the club had about the free, given the situation that arose. If we leave to one side everything prior to him being told he wouldnt be getting a new contract. Nobody comes in to sign him when a fee was involved. Allegedly, (according to his agent), he threw that spat at Leeds where he argued with the players and argued with Pardew and then put out those anti Newcastle tweets on the evening. Im not too sure at this point what alternative the club had given the broken bridges and Joeys state of mind. There would be no point continuing to pay his wages for the next year if this sort of thing was going to be a regular occurrence and Barton was simply going to be training with the young uns but not playing. Simply getting rid ASAP in "those" circumstances seems a bit like the only option and the free made it happen.

Two nice interesting contributions boys. -
A bit of a daft question given the way twitter works, but prior to that have you ever wrote to anyone famous, and more importantly received a reply. Two I can think of off the top of my head. When SJH was getting a lot of shit personally in the press over his sons antics, I wrote a "comforting letter" to him which said something along the lines of "dont let the bastards get you down". Got a lovely reply back saying that he and Mrs SJH, Mae? were really pleased by the support. Also while very pissed after a match, wrote to Freddy Shepherd asking for a job in marketing saying something along the lines of he was missing out big time by not having quiz machines in the walkways. Also think Ive got a letter (in the loft ) off KK wishing me happy Birthday. Might have been Willie McFaul.

I think its cos you are always shouting at me and he's the most famous Irish shouter that springs to mind.

Cant argue with that TBH I've always been very excitable about matchday. It started when I used to sit in the local farms hayloft with one of those cheap radios listening to the "Its a goal show". Cant remember the presenters name. I also think being an oot made you appreciate the big city trip a bit more. I think "locals" who got to go every week in their youth probably take it for granted a bit more. Could be wrong.
