  1. He's doing exactly what Carroll should have done if he had really wanted to stay when the club wanted to sell. He's "appearing" to do it, whilst all the while he is, in reality, making it more difficult/unlikely to come to pass. Should be keeping his gob shut until he's gone (one way or the other) moral high ground and all that, he's just playing to the audience IMO. Exactly. Silly lad.
  2. Spot on (cant see it happening now like).
  3. I didnt say that though. The observations I read were discussing how Bartons influence while channelled positively is good, however a negative Barton could have an eroding influence. Anyone who thinks Bartons comments at talk ins, in the press and now via twitter are positive for NUFC or assisting his chances of staying at the club, are mad. I love Barton as has been evident over time on here but I certainly dont want a sulky, argumentative Barton hanging around. Needs addressing quickly. So you'd rather he swept it under the carpet, took his wages and moved along quietly? Not Barton's way, really. I'm glad Barton has had his say on the matter, no smokescreens, no bullshit just the situation as the player sees it, if people at the club have their own views they are free to air them. I'm sure the local/non local journalists will provide them with a platform. One thing about Barton is that he doesn't seem the type to sit on the fence, it's fairly obvious that there's bad blood between him and the hierarchy and an extra year with a pay cut seems a fair enough compromise to me. (He gets his extra year option, they get the pay cut), but maybe he's not wanted by the big Cheese. There's no conspiracy, the people in charge are, in my opinion, huffy bastards who have deliberately closed a section who occasionally gave them the bird and have strung along some of the younger displaced supporters with vague talk of relocating them together before denying them this opportunity once the final game is out the way and verbal protests are avoided. Barton has had run ins with them so he's out as well. Funny though how he wasnt very bolshy until AFTER he turned down his contract offer in January. Funny That. I also would love a straight answer to specific details of what you think he has brought into the public domain? Only last week his agent was publicly praising the regime.
  4. NUFC may persuade Kevin Gameiro to snub Spain
  5. Transfer bargains great for NUFC, but team spirit is at risk
  6. Just getting rid of Campbell/Kuqi was enough to grant that wish Then I will sleep happy. Night Night all. feminists ffs
  7. Exactly what I said earlier and NJS reiterated. it's the departures which are saying everything there is to be said, unfortunately. Thats a big NOTHING then
  8. I dont suppose you would like to offer any links to "those people" who said that? Dont worry, I know the answer. To be honest I wasn't happy with the way in which I summed up some people's expectations for this transfer window. Could you please do me a favour then, and sum up yours in one or two clear lines. Thanks. Its been very clear all weekend. I would like to start Next season with a stronger side than we finished last season. I also said I am happy for a neutral like Chez to call whether the team is stronger or weaker. Sorry mate, I asked for your expectations not your desires. To clarify that's what you think will happen and not what you want to happen (they can of course be the same). Everyone would like to start the season with a stronger side, but for the record the strength of the side should not be judged against the team at the end of the season, but the team prior to January. That's allowing for the idea that the club did not have time after the Carroll sale to reinvest the money. My expectations are that we will be stronger at the start of next season than we were at the end of last season.
  9. Trophy signings, Trophy signings, hello, hello We all talk morality but our knickers drop at the mere sniff of a trophy signing.

  11. Seems as your knickers appear to have got knotted Happy Face, here is the OP again. Putting the last two tongue in cheek posts to one side, I dont think there is anything to unpleasant or unrealistic in the rest to anyone other than someone stuck in a particular viewpoint.
  12. Seriously are you a Newcastle fan? Everything thats gone on in the last week and in one full week you manage two posts, both about me. The one above and....... "I'm honestly dying here! What a mentalist! CT man, get help". Both in this thread ffs Get a life man and join in the discussions, the comings the goings, Barton etc etc Rather than stalking, start a few threads yourself, chip in, keep the place going. Unlike you and also unlike the people forecasting a terminal summer, I'm going to actually wait and see before making a judgment. Oh really I think that our summer will be a poor one with several core players leaving and some replacements coming in who are either of equivalent or lesser quality, while major weaknesses of the squad (full-back cover, strikers) will not be adequately addressed - but none of that is set in stone. Nothing is in the history books yet. This summer could go either way and I'm going to wait and see. So we all cant offer predictions, but you can.
  13. I think there's an obvious difference that you're not mentioning here. In the Championship the team performed despite, and not because of the owner. The general feelings regarding where we would finish in the League were pretty much spot on. The activity in transfer windows is what is up for discussion here. Whilst that obviously contributes to the ability of the team to perform it is far from the only influencing factor. The owner regained some modicum of reputation in the last summer because of Ben Arfa's desire to play here and because of the quality signing that Tiote turned out to be. At the same time the signing of James Perch was disasterous from the beginning. The apparently opportunistic signing of Dan Gosling has done nothing so far but waste wages on another sick note. Simpson's permanent signing was a cautious one. His early season form was promising but since then he has slipped off the pace. Another chance was taken on Sol Campbell, no transfer fee and plenty of experience - but when needed he was hardly there and when he was he disappointed. The Xisco saga continued with the club desperately trying to peddle off their money burning flop. Then in January the club took another chance on a sick note in the form of Stephen Ireland. That turned out to be a useless move. Carroll was obviously sold for a princely sum, and despite going into the window requiring a first team striker ON TOP OF Carroll we ended up without Carroll and with only a token gesture signing in Kuqi. A number of our players were also loaned out with no replacements forthcoming including Routledge who would come in handy late in the season when injuries and suspensions resulted in having to field players out of position. With that the most recent track record of transfers (and quite frankly the record for the owner is worse in the windows immediately prior to these) it's ridiculous to suggest that the burden of proof lies with anyone but those proclaiming that this transfer window will be all good with plenty of players arriving to improve the team and only dead wood heading in the other direction. I dont suppose you would like to offer any links to "those people" who said that? Dont worry, I know the answer.
  14. Throw out your hands stick out your touche Hands on your hips Give them a push You'll be suprised your doing the French mistake.
  15. the little fella wont be happy in the morning.
  16. 1. We'll be in the top 4. 2. Gervinho will be current top scorer. 3. Ben Arfa and Gosling will be injured. Ahh, the Leazes approach.
  17. Don't think i've read that thread or what he got right but i'll assume it was something generalised like not being relegated or pissing the championship, things like that. The problem with CT's football related posts is he doesn't know anything about anyone or any club outside of ours, he says this himself, but he'll sit and comment on things that heavily involve other clubs/other players and the like, and rant on and on like he actually does. So it's as pointless as debating a coin toss, take the transfer threads where he's praising Carr for signings and scouting players he's never heard of let alone seen to pass comment on. Cabaye being a prime example, i've no idea if it'll be a good signing, i've seen very little of him, what i did see he was /ok/, he's 26 at the end of the year but until this year was yet to make any meaningful contribution to any team to have made a name for himself. But for CT it's like we've signed Neymar and the board are giving us all our dreams come true. The main reason i'm dubious he's going to be brilliant is, Lille just won the league, into the champions league, if he's so key and such a great player they'd have offered him something to make sure he stayed, the only other draw that takes a player who is that good/that high standard of quality (say like his teammate Eden Hazard) away from that scenario is #1 Money (sure as fuck isn't the case with us) #2 Success... again not us #3 Bigger Club (We're not chelsea or arsenal or man utd, we're a big club, we're not a take lower wages and give up a champions league spot to join big like they are) We're not the kind of club in a situation who can pick off a squads better players when they've performed unexpectedly. For £4m, his club not really trying to hold onto him, and no others chasing him, i think it's safe to say he'll be alright nothing brilliant but not awful, basically he's probably going to be a french Barton in level of quality. Happy with it but i'm not going jump around like we've won the lotto, and i sure as fuck won't make a thread on here promoting the successful turnaround of FCB and dekka I know loads of 'experts' with shit judgement. People are dicks when they are right about things, just look at Leazes. If Cabaye turns out to be very good, then credit should be given, which in turn will mean CT and his shit one-eyed patter about FCB and Dekka would have been right again. Doesnt mean he knows more about football than you or anything and i'm not defending his OP or him, just pointing out the facts. I've got no idea about Cabaye tbh but that Lille side was canny. Its helped pass the weekend. I think Ive been very upfront about knowing nothing about Cabaye, in the same way that I know nowt about Messi other than I heard the name "somewhere". However I am very capable of doing a little research and discovering that Cabaye is supposedly an excellent box to box player who is loved by Lille fans and players and was hugged by each player as he was given a standing ovation as he left the pitch. I also discovered (dickweed -- Ant) that your statement "until this year was yet to make any meaningful contribution to any team to have made a name for himself" like most of what you say is know nowt shite. Had you bothered, like I, to do a little research, you would have seen that his best year was actually the season before this when he scored 15 from midfield. I am quite sure that you are either one of these sad little loners with an electric dish and spend all your time drinking cheap cider and watching football without retaining any information or you are simply one of the many football manager spastics who think your occasional win over a computer makes you the next Alex Feguson. Tit.
