  1. NEWCASTLE GOSSIP Want-away Newcastle owner Mike Ashley is lining up a sensational return for former manager Kenny Dalglish. The ex-Scotland and Liverpool striker took charge at St James's Park after Kevin Keegan left the club back in 1997. (Daily Star) Ashley's "week from hell" continued when he lost £300m after a gamble on faltering HBOS shares went wrong. (Daily Telegraph) Defender Steven Taylor is the latest player looking for an exit at St James's Park in protest at the treatment of former boss Keegan. (The Sun) A Nigerian businessman says he is leading a bid to buy Newcastle United. "The consortium has raised £350m," said the chief executive of NVA Management Chris Nathaniel. (The Times) TRANSFER GOSSIP Manchester City's multi-billionaire new owners - who will formally complete their takeover on Tuesday - have pencilled Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez and Lyon's Karim Benzema on their dream shopping list. (Daily Star) Birmingham could take out-of-favour midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng off Tottenham's hands on a loan spell. (Daily Mirror) OTHER GOSSIP Stuart Atwell - the referee who gave Reading the goal that never should have been given in their 2-1 win over Watford - will escape severe punishment. (Daily Mail) AND FINALLY Tottenham boss Juande Ramos insists he is loving life in London and is not homesick, contrary to reports. "I am having a marvellous experience," said the Spaniard. (The Times)
  2. Shaun Custis believes Mike Ashley is treating Newcastle like a toy. The Sun's chief football writer and the Sunday Supplement's resident Geordie was furious with the controversial owner as the goings-on at St James' Park came under scrutiny. Ashley has announced he is willing to sell the club amid constant and well-organised fan protests against the so-called Cockney Mafia that includes director of football Dennis Wise, but even that did not spare him as Custis gave an insider's view from Tyneside. And nor did trying to get Kevin Keegan back on board. "This cockney mafia thing is that they (Ashley and Wise) seemingly fly up from the south of England, have a little meddle in the club, muck it up for a day or whatever, then they fly back down south again, go the pub and have a little bit of a laugh about what happened today," he told The Supplement. "It's almost like they're (Ashley and Dennis Wise) treating it like a toy in the north east," he said. "You think 'why aren't you hands-on? How come you aren't around the place?'. "You get the feeling its being left to drift without them taking a proper handle on things." As for Keegan, he is the only man the Toon Army want leading their club. Ashley was hailed as a hero for bringing him back to the club and according to Custis tried to do the same following his decision to resign. But crucially he says, Ashley wanted to bring Keegan back under the very same managerial structure and regime that he could not work with in the first place. "The Friday before last they did try to get Kevin Keegan back," he said. "I was flying back down south funnily enough, on an EasyJet flight and the managing director happened to be on the same flight - very prudent that, keeping costs down. "They clearly had realised that it had gone too far the other way, but I said 'how could you possible get him back when the structure hasn't changed?'. "He wouldn't answer that question, but it was just a non-runner from the start." Events off the field are being mirrored on it as well. Saturday's 3-1 defeat at West Ham left Newcastle, under caretaker boss Chris Hughton, second-from-bottom in the Premier League. And with a Keegan comeback unlikely to happen, Custis fears the worst. "Ashley also came out saying we've signed lots of quality players, world-class players. "Collocini? Does he look like a world-class player to you? Gonzales? I don't know, I haven't got a clue yet but apparently he's going to be very good. Cisco? Maybe. "We've been unlucky with Gutierrez, but hes goals record was something like four in 100. Okay he's a winger but he doesn't have a great scoring record. "I think there's a lot of problems with the players who have been brought in. I do not see how Ashley gets out of this without breaking even at best. "It's a completely rudderless ship and the way it is going, relegation looms."

    Owen

I hold my hands up with that too. He has been a class act over the last 12 months or so. Can't really blame him for leaving considering the shambles we have been in recent seasons and as a player who is a class act and having played for Real Madris deserves to be playing under better managers than the likes of Souness, Roeder and Fat Sam...
  4. Fuck Keegan he was shit anyway (Just thought I had to keep up the pish thats being aimed at us non geordies...)
  5. Yeah, but at least they are creating chances every game aren't they? If I am a striker looking for a new club, would I be more interested in joining a club with a good midfield creating chances or a team like newcastle in which I will get 1 or 2 chances a game, and am expected to score those? Totally different argument now. Fuck off man. Its the exact same argument. Spurs have a better midfield than you, and thus will create more chances, and thus will score more goals. Feel free to disagree with my logic, but I think it makes perfect sense. More chances = more goals, not sure what's debateable about that. It doesn't matter how many chances you create, you still have to put the ball in the back of the net or they count for fuck all...
  6. And thats exactly why we should have had that mans contract tied up....class
  7. Bollocks for the majority of the match they have been by far the better team. Christ we can hardly string together 3-4 passes...

  9. NEWCASTLE United goalkeeper Ole Soderberg's injury heartache has been deepened by the knowledge he was set for call up to Sweden's Under-21 side. Soderberg faces two months on the sidelines after breaking his left wrist warming up for last Saturday's Academy game away to Liverpool. And Newcastle's goalkeeping coach Paul Barron has revealed the 18-year-old – signed from Swedish side Hacken in January – was on the brink of a career milestone after impressing for club and country since his move to St James's Park. "Ole's broken his hand – he fell over warming up for an Academy game," said Barron. "It's unfortunate, as he was just about to get picked for Sweden's Under-21 team, and he's only 18. He's already played at Under-19s level. "It's a significant injury, and he'll be out for at least two months. "Injuries never come at a good time, but this is even more unfortunate as I'd just had a call from the Under-21s, saying he was going to make the squad. "He's a great lad, and he's already getting bored walking around with his arm in a sling." Meanwhile, Newcastle's reserves are back in action on Monday night, when they take on Sheffield United at Blue Flame in a Central League Cup fixture (7pm). Academy director Richard Money – who has taken charge of the club's second string on a temporary basis after the departure of Adam Sadler – will be without a number of players through injury. Frank Wiafe Danquah – injured in the 3-0 midweek away defeat to Bolton Wanderers – has joined Wesley Ngo Baheng, Andy Carroll, Kazenga LuaLua and Tamas Kadar in the treatment room.
  10. HABIB BEYE will rejoin the rest of his team-mates for full training on Monday to hand the injury-hit Magpies a major boost. The Senegal international was always a non-starter for today’s visit to West Ham, and missed the game with Hull City last week. Beye has been hampered by an Achilles injury since returning for pre-season training in June, and missed several of Newcastle’s pre-season friendlies. Since then, Beye has battled on for the black-and-white cause and appeared in the first four of United’s opening fixtures for the new season. But after hobbling off in the dying stages during Kevin Keegan’s last game in charge at the Emirates, the player was then told to recuperate during the international break. He told the Chronicle directly after Arsenal that he was doubt for the game with Hull, and his worse fears were realised when he didn’t shake off the problem in time for the 2-1 defeat, despite a fortnight to recover. Beye saw a specialist in London this week and was given the nod to start training again on Monday, but it is believed that the Carling Cup clash with Spurs on Wednesday will come too soon. And if he doesn’t suffer any reaction, he could get the green light for the home game against Blackburn next Saturday, or the visit to Everton a week later. However, any adverse reaction could mean that Beye is forced to have an operation on his injured heel, which would be the last thing United need with the squad low on numbers and experience. Beye told the Chronicle: “This is my second season and I want it to be a success like last year. “After some games my Achilles has been very sore and I needed a late fitness test at Arsenal before I played. “I wanted to rest after that and see what happened. “I have had treatment on it, I wanted to stop and have a break after Arsenal. “I knew that I could miss Hull City but I knew I could come back afterwards. “I can't play all the season with this.” Fans will feel the same as Beye after the player was voted by Chronicle readers as the best player of the season last term. And they will be looking from more of the same from the ex-Marseille skipper. The 30-year-old also boosted his popularity on Tyneside by putting his club before country last month. Meanwhile caretaker manager Chris Hughton said on Beye’s situation: "He's one that we'll assess over the next two weeks. We'll try to up his training, and the amount of work that he's able to do without him having any ill effects.”
  11. From the same movie Hell Comes to Frogtown. Wahey!
  12. From the same movie Fookin hell Richie! Obviously an 80s classic with those hair cuts. I wouldn't quite call it a classic
  13. Thats purely guesswork? If if the "Three Wise Men" had not been in place it wouldn't just be Keegan picking names out of a hat, he would have a scouting team so its pretty much impossible to assume who he may or may not have been interested in.
  14. Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley snubbed a crucial meeting with Arab investors on Tuesday night – choosing instead to spend the evening drinking Mojito cocktails at a Dubai beach bar. Ashley had been due to hold talks with Dubai officials over a possible sale of the club, at the Mina A’Salam Ramadan Tent, in the Madinat Jumeirah Hotel. The meeting was due to begin at 11pm, and followed the handing over of sale documents for the club earlier in the day, in which Ashley stated he wanted no less than $860 million to sell Newcastle FC – more than twice the sum he paid for it in 2007. Sources close to the talks say an offer had been made to buy the club on Tuesday, of around $360 million. A follow-up meeting was planned to discuss the offer. However, Ashley arrived at the Bahri Bar, just five minutes walk from the Ramadan Tent, at just before 10pm last night and began ordering drinks. He was joined at the bar by Newcastle United managing director Derek Llambias and director of football Dennis Wise. While standing at the bar Ashley was overheard to tell Llambias that he wouldn’t go to the Ramadan Tent saying the earlier offer was an “insult”. Wise and Llambias briefly left the bar on several occasions to answer calls on their mobile phones, while Ashley himself remained. The group left shortly after 1am on Wednesday morning. Dubai officials had gathered at the nearby Al Majlis beachside tent, where Ashley had been invited to join them for talks over dinner. Ashley and his party were due to be flying back to the UK on Thursday morning. However, it is understood they may leave Dubai on Wednesday, as the chances of any takeover fade.
  15. Allardyce. Ashley. Roeder. Souness??? You love to back our winners don't you Dave? I didn't back Souness or Roeder. I was prepared to give Allardyce more time than others, this is true, but I'm not sad he's gone.... I guess I'm just more patient than some other people. I think Ashley wanted the best for Newcastle but tried to jam two pegs into one hole, yet again the knuckle draggers have howled and thrown poo until they get the revolution regardless of the consequences. I maintain that if Ashley hadn't hired Keegan there would not have been the brouhaha and if Ashley had employed Keegan and not Wise et al there wouldn't have been the problem either. He made errors with personnel. But lets not let let reality get in the way of a good rant. Its about more than just the errors in personnel though Dave. Don't get me wrong I think he is getting an increased amount of flak due to the last half a dozen seasons or so however the blatant fucking lies and treating us the paying customers like mugs is getting many peoples back up over and above the KK fiasco. After having paid for my season ticket for the next three years along with thousands more supporters I think we have reason to question what is actually going on at the club.
