I hope you like being unemployed then, our economy (especially in the NE) is built on Saudi oil and arms exports. The oil is bought globally by corporations - possibly nothing can be done about that. Arms are over-subsidised by tax payers money - I'd end the industry tomorrow with no conscience pangs whatsoever. You're having a laugh if you think the govt can do nothing about oil imports. And end all the arms trade you want, just make yourself available to the thousands of unemployed geordies it would produce. Thousands?

Without trawling through the kids, Beye and Faye are the only ones I'd definitely keep. Some of the others are decent but I don't care if they leave.

At heart I'm an optimist and I agree - I just wish it had been Boro as time is running out. Having said that I've been a bit heartened by looking at the mackems remaining games - I know they've picked up at home recently but they have some tough games left after Derby next week - I don't think they're as "safe" as they think. -

At several dark points over the last 15 years I have toyed with the wish to see relegation "sort out" some of our fans but my head knows it would be horrible. -

How can a business with no debt and the benefit of a huge parachute payment go into administration? The parachute payment isn't exactly 'huge' is it and it only lasts for one or two seasons doesn't it? I'm more referring to the spiral of players/staff leaving, lack of season ticket renewals and failure to get promotion again. I'm no economists, but I know that relegation isn't exactly economically sound! Then we'd better have a manager who has got something like 3 teams promoted pretty quickly then - oh wait. -

How can a business with no debt and the benefit of a huge parachute payment go into administration? If Ashley cuts the purse strings, sharpish. If the reports are correct that he has simply repaid the debt rather than reassigned it to his company then I think you're wrong. Even reduced ST income + parachute - reduction of wages through getting rid of deadwood would see us clear of that kind of trouble. -

No offence but you're too young to realise what an absolute holocaust relegation is. The cure to the malaise is an owner willing to spend a lot of money and a manager who has a decent record of doing that - scrape together enough points to avoid disaster and I think we'll be okay. -

The pisser is we haven't been that bad - outclassed obviously and several players who aren't good enough but should be enough against lesser teams. BTW Its only when we play them that I remember why I hate them so much - their every player, official and fan is a complete and utter cunt. -
The masturbation thread shows that the Abrahamic religions have an obscenely dense fascination with sex and this illustrates how much they supress and chain the most natural of human behaviours. It's all about control of course but I'd love to know how they explain how much their stupid dogma is so at odds with how we were "created" by their God. On a practical note I'd actually like to see the government apply at least one of their manifesto promises (11 years is enough surely?) and operate an ethical foreign policy which would mean no contact or business with stone age, barbaric bastards like the Saudis. Stupid I know.

I liked the "He should go back to Germany" barb. Completely ignoring the fact he has been called Phil the Greek for years. He was born in Corfu but his family is German/Danish/inbred with the rest of European royalty. I did love the irony of the "racist" remark - of course non-whites are exempt of such failings.

I know there are some human rights issues in Cuba but I also know that Cuba compares favourably with the other "beacons of democracy" (US Style) in the region in terms of education and healthcare despite 50 years of a "cold war" attitude by the Yanks. I remember admiring Clinton as a decent liberal in his early days before seeing him discussing Cuba in the same nasty, petty terms that Reagan and Bush had.

Sage must be fairly well off. I can remember one of the founders being linked with a takeover a while back. It's all balls anyway. There was talk of him buying out FF for about £25m before Ashley appeared - a long way from £250m
-
Don't think this is allowed under EU law - the backing via the treasury was given temporary approval but state guaranteed banks are on dodgy ground.
-
With NR effectively gone are there any businesses left in the NE with a spare £250m between them? Thought not.

When it comes to art in general I'm a philistine but I do find it striking and worthy of landmark status.

My Dad and my uncles certainly did go to both - this was up until the early 70s. On the question I still consider SAFC to be the enemy - I get really wound up at derbies but this is contrasted by the fact I do have a few SAFC fans as mates. I certainly do "hate" them in the football sense a lot more than anyone else. I think this is coming from a mixed town (S. Shields) and growing up seeing both sets of fans around (with the usual sprinkling of glory hunting scum thrown in).

Signing Woodgate could have been the making of him but left to learn on his own I don't see him becoming that good.

White/geordie Titus - uses the geordie card to get away with murder. Like Titus there is some talent there but I always find myself waiting for the train crashes to happen - and they do.

Clutching at straws but I hope this two week "break" will somehow change things - at least let keegan see them more on a daily basis to get a feel for who should and shouldn't play and how to get the best out of them.

Obviously we are shit but what compounds the crime is that Villa are 5th in the "best league in the world". Allardyce should be shot.

What I find ironic is how much aligned with your views on justice sharia law is. predictable response of the do gooder type. Advocating shooting some scumbag who is a rapist, child killer or terrorist [most of who seem to be muslims these days unless I'm very much mistaken] means someone is aligned with Sharia Law is it ? Absolutely - common theme: barbaric thirst for revenge. What is the difference between your enthusiasm for the death penalty and corporal punishment and the tenets of Sharia? Take away the foreign element and the cores are identical. not revenge. How can it be revenge when you don't know the victim. Believe it or not, its because I see it as justice, a deterrent, making certain they won't do it again to someone else and so ensuring that some do-gooder won't in future get them released. As I said, typical response really. What do you think of my comment that the one way to ensure Sharia Law will come here is to continue allowing people into the country who would like to implement it, as you didn't clip it ? Or do you think they will have an attack of conscience or something ? Justice/revenge its all semantics - boils down to the same thing. Do you honestly think someone as fucked up as the bloke who raped the dying/dead model would stop and think about a deterrent? I abhor all religious bollocks - I wouldn't necessarily oppose muslim immigration but what I would do is completely disestablish the state then we could more easily laugh at fuckwits like Williams and the other apologits for judaism, islam and christianity - they have no place in politics. Just because I'm a "do gooder" doen't mean I have any respect for the nastier sides of multiculturism like sharia.
