No rushed return for Barton

This is ridiculous, one minute it is OK to delay a trial until the end of the season to allow him to play football, then all of a sudden not playing football is part of the bail guidelines. Once again NUFC is at the forefront of farce.

I get the impression that the bail conditions arent that he wont play football more that he will spend x amount of time in rehab as such and therefore playing the game will jepoardise that.

As for the should he stay should he go argument. Theres no way you'd let him rot in the reserves while paying 40k a week as a ) it would be stupidity business wise and b ) would probably make him worse.

Personally, I think hes proved he cant change, this isnt the first time hes been in Tony Adams's place, I remember reading an article on him and there where they extolled the virtues of the place holding him up as a shining example. Not exactly long term results like.

In an ideal world I would like us to take a moral stance and sack him, refusing to pay any compensation as Id love to see any court in the land go against it. Life unfortunately isnt like that and just like Dyer, Bellamy, Bowyer and Woodgate before him he'll carry on getting paid and maybe someday will play again.

Putting money over principles is why we have such a sorrowful reputation on moral issues in the first place.

What abunch of overreacting exagerating idiots! He is a good player and yes he is a fool and done stupid things but jesus we've all made mistakes, we've all worked with someone we dont get on, we've all had a fracas on a night out! The fact he's a footballer and the media hate us makes this into a massive deal, and it doesnt help we theres a section of our fans who are complete pricks and think they've never done wrong in there lives. Dont you for one second think that the boy has issues, and its good to see the club have realised this and are helping him get over them. But for as long as theres the minority, shoot him, hang him, let him rot brigade out there the boys never gonna get a break!

Give him a chance to right his wrongs im sure he will......

Regardless of what you think of him it's good to see the club looking after him instead of washing their hands of him. I realise the motives may not be purely philanthropic.

Isn't Peter Kay from Sporting Chance rather than being employed by the club?

'He's done stupid things' - talk about understatement. Let's not forget, another PL club were happy to suspend him before his current 3 trials, he's not on his second chance, or third or fourth. And to keep him just because we are paying him £xm, well whose fault was that? You can't take the risk and then not accept the loss when it goes tits up.

ah, that's put me right in my place then ;)

to be fair we've seen no evidence at Newcastle that he's a good player, but plenty of evidence of his off-field shenanigans, I'm all for the lad getting help. But I don't really think it's in the clubs best interest to retain his services and the club comes first.

Thats like a car dealership findin one of his cars's wheels have fallen of and saying "Ah its not my best car so we'll just scrap it, not worth the bother" wheres the sence i that?

see in my head it's like the car dealership finding their mid-range car has a bowl of spaghetti for an engine, and Edam for wheels. It's not going to be a problem that will go away.

It's not like he's broken his foot, he's broken the law. Not for the first time either. He has anger management issues which are not being resolved, he's had chance after chance and is spurning them... on and off the pitch.

I'm not saying pack him off now, but I don't see him at the club long term.
