As some of you know I have decided to run the Great North Run!!

My mother died of breast cancer when I was 10 years old and so I am running for Cancer Research UK and aim to raise £1000.

If you can please sponsor me, every little helps and I'm sure you'll agree it is for a great cause.

Thanks to everyone who had made a donation.

Ritchie is also doing the Great North Run for Bowel Cancer UK.

Good man yourself - I'm aiming for a future assault on the GNR but this year has come too early, so count me in on the donations front. :nufc:

Thanks for the donation! :nufc:

I'll admit I'm wrong about your tache-growing skills the day you audition for a Village People tribute band. :nufc:

How long have you been in there mate? Any good?

I keep meaning to get to the bar half way up, just for the view rather than the over priced drinks.

Been in just under a month. It's booshank mate. I'm on 37the floor; the bar is on the 23rd and 24th floors, but it's view is over South Manchester (ie the suburbs) so it's not that much kop. I made sure I got a North facing plot so I got the views over the city centre.

You're into town planning arent you? Have you kept an eye on the planning applications/projects under construction for Mcr? Interesting stuff.

There is all sorts coming up and planned in Manchester at the moment, certainly going to be very interesting. Piccadilly Tower is going be bigger than Beetham Tower, 188metres tall, 55 floors, preparing the site for construction at the moment.

I'm researching culture led regeneration in NewcastleGateshead at the moment but also working on a masterplan for East Manchester, will be very interesting to see how things go over there as it is an utter shit hole but the extension of the Metrolink really could change things for the better, although it will more than likely just lead to gentrification of the area pushing the deprivation further east.

With a house price crash and a macroeconomic downturn on the way, new-build inner-city tower blocks will be the sink estates of the future. Discuss.

Or don't.

Yeah cheers for that Martin, and how would you like it if I just called you a big puff?!

I'd deflect it with a camp comment and a wink then cry myself to sleep about it, dahling, same as always.

Yeah Piccadilly Tower is going to be a belter, size-wise at least (even if Leeds' Lumiere project probably has more architectural merit). Piccadilly's been approved for what seems like ages but groundworks have only just begun and it's quite a challenging site to prepare given that it's multi-level.

Canopus in Salford is also approved at 160 odd metres plus but the developer is BSC who are an absolute joke so that one will probably never happen with them at the helm.

Interesting stuff with what you say re East Manc. They're still railing from not getting the Super Casino so they'll need another economic driver there.

Sorry to sidetrack your donation thread-I'll zip it there as I don't want your appeal to get lost in my nerd fest.
