New Boro boss to target NUFC striker Carroll

NEW Middlesbrough boss Gordon Strachan is set to make a cheeky New Year bid for Newcastle striker Andy Carroll.

Strachan – who is set to be confirmed as the Teessiders’ new boss within the next 48 hours – is a long-term admirer of the Geordie target man.

And, although Boro cannot offer guaranteed Premier League football, Strachan hopes that Newcastle’s pinched finances and ongoing ownership saga will persuade them to listen to an offer for England Under-21 international Carroll.

Although he has impressed in spells at St James’s Park, Carroll has a chequered history off the field on Tyneside.

But it might still take serious persuasion to convince the 20-year-old him to join a rival Championship club.

Strachan also plans to return to Celtic for Gary Caldwell when the transfer window reopens.

..................................

We'll probably lose him.

Fatty cracking a boner at the thought of more money!

I'd like to think that it couldn't possibly happen... but with Ashley running the show you just know that it's more likely to happen than not.

Plus I'd like to think Carroll wouldn't want to play for 'Boro.

I can't see him actually wanting to leave us for anyone else in this league, the prem perhaps but boro are currently worse than we are and he is supposed to be a toon fan so...

What worries me is that when January comes round I fully expect Jonas, Coloccini, Enrique, Smith and Taylor to get sold - who the fuck will we have playing in the first team???

Ashley is a cunt + We're bound to be paying him fuck all = Boro bid £4m and offer to triple his pay then he is gone.

Boro have just splashed out over £1.5m for Ledger and they're expected to sign him for £3m or so in January. There's no way they will be able to spend £8m in one season in the championship they're skint aint they!?
