Massive respect to Hughton but I also think we got a slice of luck in that some of the players who stayed and have ended up performing for us were on massive dock off wages and so it kept Prem suitors away. I'm assuming Bassong wasn't on a kings ransom though (could be wrong) so he was always gonna get snapped up. Could be a top drawer centre half for the next 5 years plus tbh. Including all those that left) and the number of games that the starting 11 for the last 3 games had in the relegation season. I have heard the line 'this is the same Newcastle team that went down' about 20 times this season and each time, thought, is it fuck. Anyway, go stat boy, go. I assumed he meant something daft in that it was too low, whereas it would've been good money considering where he was before he came. I think he was 'only' on something like £2.5k a week like.
