PC slows down

when I am looking at multiple web pages.

I'm using google chrome. A few weeks ago, my BT modem crashed, so I re-booted it.

Since then, when I've had the PC switched on for an hour or more, and when I've got a few different web pages, the whole PC slows down. I re-booted the modem again and it cured it for a while, but after a while slowed down again.

I have run avast and malwarebytes a few times each, I have no virus or malware.

Any advice would be appreciated. The PC isn't new but isn't that old either, the spec should be fine, it has been fast enough for a long while now.

No I don't have any movies and don't download them. I have a lot of music but I have always had lots of music.

No moving ads either. I'm running malwarebytes again at the moment.

I'm also getting occasional unresponsive pages

Do the old ctrl -alt-del and run task manager to see which processes are using the most memory and see if there is owt there that is unusual

ah, I had forgotten that. I've been looking on google and there has been a few problems with Google Chrome and Flashplayer a few months ago. Don't know what to do about it though, what a load of bollocks, these big companies who fuck up their software like that with still no real fix.

I cant recall what its called, but that microsoft service where it files all of your HD? once a week or so it can recheck it. That can slow you down. Or if its a virus checker running or a defrag. As said, look at the list to see what is running.

Chrome and Flash work fine now.

I imagine you're a massive pornhound though. It's probably something you've picked up from that.

I thought you were ignoring Leazes after your flounce?

Give your head a shake.

Leazes, I had the same problem last year and it drove me nuts. In the end I found out that N Power had changed to imported electricity and I had to get a new modem. A few other other companies have recently done the same so I would check with them first.

I was going to use IE today and see how it responded, but there was a new version of Flash player waiting for me to download and install when I turned the PC on.

So far, it is responding better but I'm still not sure if it will remain this way.

Thanks to everybody for the help.

 The one-man Leazes Protection Agency leaps back into action.

If it goes back to the way it was & we find you're the catalyst you'll be banned. You're the first to complain & whine, so I advise you stop causing trouble.

 Tough talk. Funny that you were morally opposed/lacking in scrotum last time the question of banning came up, and yet here you are dishing out the threats this time for a nothing comment in the fucking help forum.

If you want to ban me, knock yourself out, but don't expect to me to respond to your advice (threat).

I was morally opposed to the banning for very reason it was idiots like you helping him on his way.

You're part of the cause and you always have been, I've never looked past that.

Gemmill will be the first to complain when he sees anything he doesn't like - even if it's a product of his own. So it's better to nip it at the bud.

He should be ignoring Leazesmag - as per his own suggestion, if he's mature enough - and vice versa.

If you don't like what I have to say, use the ignore function. Wasn't that the solution from "idiots like you"?

Ant seems to have it about right like. Won't be the first/last time someone raises porn as the reason for a computer slowdown. Probably the first time it's resulted in a ban threat though.

You've got yourself in a right muddle here. Itchy trigger finger where I'm concerned appears to be clouding your judgement.

Settle down lasses. Gem was meant to have LM on ignore like ;) But it was a fairly throw away comment that could have been said to anyone with a slow PC. But because its Gemmil against LM the usual baiting question naturally comes up.

LM is sorted to locking you fuckers :D
