The Toon tycoon does still retain an interest in Glasgow Rangers but after the club released a statement that Ashley intends to remain at Newcastle until “at least the end of next season” it has now emerged that as long as the owner is making a profit on Tyneside he will stick to his game plan at St James’ Park, with a huge financial windfall ahead for the Magpies IF they can stay in the Premier League. A club source told the Chronicle: “With the new TV deal soon to be announced Mike isn’t likely to be going anywhere, anytime soon.” Indeed, the Premier League will soon be rolling out new packages for auction that will cover the three seasons from the 2016-17 campaign. Newcastle scooped £77million last season for a 10th place spot. But when the new TV rights kick in clubs could earn over £100million per season just for staying in the top flight. Sky Sports and BT Sports are currently leading the way when it comes to live TV coverage. However, when the new bidding war kicks off industry experts have forecasted that the likes of Google and Apple could also be ready to join the party. And that means that each live game may now be worth around £7million per GAME to Ashley and the rest of the Premier League club owners. In short, and while Ashley’s blueprint of just staying in the top flight frustrates the Toon Army, the Premier League is the place to be in the next few years. Ashley has stuck with under fire Alan Pardew at the moment. But is believed that should Newcastle’s Premier League place be put in serious doubt Ashley will weigh up the odds of Pardew’s compensation packages against the TV riches that lie in wait in the next few years. The club are also set to outline their targets for the months ahead at the club’s first fan forum of the season on October 20. Do you not read Stevie McFaul? If it was easy getting the message to 2.5m north easterners that going to a Newcastle game is tabboo, even when tickets are £5, then it would have happened 5 years ago, as it is, even the people paying attention can't be disuaded from buying pies and pints while they're there! If it was easy getting the message to 2.5m north easterners that going to a Newcastle game is tabboo, even when tickets are £5, then it would have happened 5 years ago, as it is, even the people paying attention can't be disuaded from buying pies and pints while they're there! I was hoping it might encourage someone to buy us off him, but then again its also likely to increase his reasons for holding on and pushing the asking price higher.
