  7. I like the fully enclosed bowl, I'd imagine the crowd noise has the potential to be phenomenal. having worked with metal all me working life I tend to get a bit sick of the sight of the stuff, so I'm not too keen on the cladding. I'd have been tempted to go more rustic and gone for the cob effect and covered it in mud and straw, a bit like this...

  9. “By very definition, the only reason for any government to seek to leave the ECHR is because it must want to pass laws which might be in breach of ECHR standards. Doesn’t that prove the very point that we cannot trust our government always to respect human rights? ” In a nutshell. I wouldn’t trust the sly bastards currently in government to run a bath, never mind the country and it’s future. Armed revolt is coming, rise up, grab a malllet, we have numbers!

  11. There's at least 36 roles now, per position, and that's not taking into account low block audibles or mid-sector transgressors.

  16. I think it was his positioning which disappointed me mostly in the last match. He got a proper telling off from Tripps at one point there. And then (from memory because fucked if I'm going near a highlights package for the game) for the second goal the young Brighton player received the ball between the lines pretty well exactly where Bruno should've been situated (at least according to Trippier's earlier expressed opinion). It's more complicated than that, of course, but it does seem that Bruno isn't executing on his defensive responsibilities as he should be at the moment. I think there is potentially an issue here whereby Bruno thinks of himself as a more attacking player than perhaps the needs of the system are calling for and he is roaming forward when he shouldn't be. If we can assume that Howe and Tripps are aligned, then Bruno's role is to protect the back four. Perhaps Bruno has been given some license to roam about but if that is the case then it isn't working so Howe would need to revert back to being more solid. I think we've worked nicely with some fluidity in the team (Joelinton & Willock exchanging spots on the left-mid/left-wing, for example, but I don't think it's working with Tonali/Bruno interchanging between the 6/right-sided 8, perhaps because neither of them is fully enthused about the more defensive aspects of the 6 role). I dunno, I'm talking shite at this point. The Liverpool and Brighton results were hard to take. But upon reflection we're not far away really. We have a much better squad. Tonali is a proper player and will settle. Barnes has looked quality. Gordon has started the season brilliantly. Both our strikers have a few goals and look in decent form. And the youngsters have shown at their previous clubs that they have some clear potential. A few defensive blips aside, we look alright. The squad is absolutely improved and we're moving in the right direction in general. We just need to get the momentum rolling. Now that some of our hardest fixtures for the year are out of the way (excluding CL) we should be pumped up and ready to fuck in the league come the end of the international break. As an aside, I agree with PL's sentiment that Bruno deserves harsher criticism because he is an exceptionally talented footballer. I do think the idea he is distracted by becoming a parent is incredibly far-fetched, however, based upon a few seconds of footage from the pre-game the other week. If anything becoming a parent makes you more determined to do well in life not less. At least that's my experience. He'll come good. He's an amazing player and seemingly a really decent human being to boot. ❤️

  25. It's a different type of pressure isn't it? The opportunities for disaster are far higher if Newcastle are dispossessed around their box, but when Joelinton is bursting through into the final 3rd, the risks aren't as high. You need someone like Bruno, who can win or receive the ball under pressure, and find a pass or move the ball up the pitch another way. Joelinton can't really do that. He can receive the ball around their box and either use his strength to hold it up for runners, or be that runner himself. That kind of play doesn't work in the defensive third.

  26. I think that’s his plan isn’t it? A fluid midfield three that interchange positions. A bit like Willock and Joelinton did down out left side last season to good effect. The problem is it isn’t working at the moment. I would be instructing one of them (probably Bruno because he did it so well last season) to just sit in front of the back four until we start winning games again

  31. @Dr Gloom I said this earlier. This is why I’m giving Bruno 6 nowt and this is why I don’t criticise Miggy. I don’t do scapegoats. I’m saying his outside influences are affecting his game. And when you’re an attention seeking little-house-on-the-prairie fucknut someone not blinded by infantile fuckin fan worship will notice 👍
