It's one of the two. I actually think that when the fans turned on him after Keegan he said to himself 'Right, that's it. I'm going to show them by fucking their beloved club up and then fucking off when it is beyond repair." It's the only explanation, otherwise I cant understand why he is behaving the way he is. Fucking hell we were fighting for our lives, I'd rather have shipped 3 in the last five minutes with 6 up front than kept it the way it was and in the end not even rendering a decent effort on target. We went down without even a whimper. Forgive me if I'm wrong but Shearer wasn't on the pitch. He had to chuck on what rubbish he inherited from before who clearly weren't up to the job throughout the whole season, not just the last eight games. If he'd had a half decent player to put on to throw caution to the wind with and instead put on someone who was sh*te then I might agree with you, but he didn't. Stevie, I wouldn't normally agree with you about Brummies and I still think you might be wrong in general but having someone suggest the likes of John Gregory being a better bet as manager of Newcastle than Alan Shearer has seriously made me wonder. I agree tbh I know he's only had 8 games and all but i've seen no sign at all that he's going to be a good manager. Most of the time he just sits on his arse and lets Dowie do the work. If we had even a remote chance of getting Martinez in, I'd be far more open to that than Shearer staying on. I think there have been positives in what he's said and what experienced players like Duff have said about him. But I agree on the pitch we saw very little improvement. Given what he had to work with that's not surprising though and as such I'm still very much in favour of his appointment. Lads, he had EIGHT games. That's EIGHT. He had to work with a completely disheartened and shell-shocked squad whose confidence was absolutely shattered from the months (ok, years) of turmoil and bad results. That and most of the players weren't good enough. You reckon Wenger or Ferguson would have done much better in 8 games? Shearer has realised what needs to be done and he's probably told fatty exactly what he thinks. I dont care if he hasn't managed before - Keegan hadn't first time round and look what happened then. I reckon we've just got to give him a chance tbh. As long as he gets rid of players like CocaColaccini who haven't got the heart for a fight then I'll be happy with that as a start.
