  1. Pardew won't make it till Xmas. He's not got the players to win enough games, and he's partly to blame. 15m worth of players have effectively been given away today.

  3. http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/employment-status/ Maybe you misread what I said and took the reference to footballers being contractors (on fixed term contracts) as inferring they were self employed or independent contractor. Either way because of the fixed term contract (and more so the transfer window) an employment tribunal would treat a footballer very different to you or I, actually maybe not you as you have a fancy dan law degree from a top university.
  4. Would you like a link to the hmrc definition of a Self Employed Contractor? Or maybe a dictionary definition of the word contractor?
  5. Aye I must be incorrect. It's not like footballers ever get contract extensions or sign a 5 year contracts or owt like that. fwiw, at no point did I say they werent employees. I said employment law is different because they are contractors.
  6. Sorry I meant different to you and I. It's probably more the Transfer window than the contract type that would be important. Players have agents to handle the process, so its all part of the job. Sadly there is no manager transfer window.
  7. same. When managers leave by mutual consent, it really means the manager has signed a compromise agreement, where he's paid x amount in return not bad mouthing the club. It's why you get so few manager auto biographies.
  8. Yeah, Barton had exactly the same treatment, maybe the decision isn't Pardews. http://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/agent-admits-barton-bamboozled-newcastle-axing-1795091#.VALm_TjTXZs
  9. Footballers are contractors, so its very different employment law. While the windows is open, we told him to find another club as he's not part of the plans. It can easily be argued he's not been given the opportunity to play, as the club dont want to risk injury. Once the windows shuts the justification for freezing him out is no longer valid. Ben Arfa could easily seek a contract termination under the ruling we signed jonas. And with Ben Arfa in the last year of his contract I can see Ashley being mighty pissed with Pardew's handling of the situation. All that bring said, if Ben Arfa suddenly is brought back into the first team, I wouldn't be surprised if Pardew had no say in freezing him out. I'm pretty sure Barton had similar run with management when he went into the last year of his contract. I vaguely remember Willy McKay saying Barton would train with the reserves and leave in a free, shortly before we let him leave for nowt.
  10. I cant believe how many makems are shocked Collback was picked ahead of Cattermole. Surely even they must know it nothing to do with football or us being a much bigger club (their interpretation not mine). But Cattermole's reputation as an utter c**t.
  11. They've just got knocked out of the Champions League so I'm not sure they'll be looking to add to their squad.
  12. Pardew is towing the party line. There's no way he believe we can go into season with two Forwards. It's a numbers game and that's what Ashley has told him to say.
  13. I doubt anyone high up at the club will give it a second thought.
  14. I read Pardew was at the reserve game on Monday, if so I'd find it hard to believe playing him didn't get his approval. I'd take him back in the team over any signing.
  15. Let's face it, you'd still moan if his twin was the example. Different hair cut etc...
  16. Not really worth a response. Might as well play 11 strikers. Just scroll up and read Long's Premier League stats.
  17. If we are being pedantic, is Shane Long classed as a goal scorer? Games Goals 21 2 29 3 32 8 34 8 15 3 15 4 2 0 (missed a sitter in both games) Maybe I could have picked a better player in my off-the-cuff remark. How about; Tiote is one of the better players in a mid table team. Leroy Fer was one of the better players in a relegated team. The latter went to QPR for 8m. SO people suggesting we take 8m are selling him on the cheap.
  18. Ffs. The point stands. Clubs have more disposal income - largely because of the increase TV money. Fulham paid 12m that leeds fella. Hull are looking at 12m for that Blackburn guy. Borini, yes "Fabio Borini" is on Sunderland radar for 14m. Liverpool and llanana... the list goes on. Sure one club purchase means nowt. But it's not one club. They're all wasting money. The rumour mill has Wellbeck for 20m and Di Maria for 80m euros. Clubs have money to waste. So to suggest we take 8m is mental.
  19. Tiote plays in midfield and the British transfer record is 50m. But don't let that get in the way of a pointless debate.
  20. Fees being paid highlight clubs disposable income. TV money etc.... ...and if Shane long can go for 12m
