  1. Thought this was worthy of a thread as it looks like both are signing and going to be loaned back. Know nothing of Darlow but I've read things about Lascelles in the past and he seems to be rated as a decent prospect. Forest fans don't seem to be happy about it. http://www.forest.vitalfootball.co.uk/forum/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=28594&posts=12
  2. Newcastle United have completed the signing of Republic of Ireland international defender Ciaran Clark. The versatile 26-year-old joins from Aston Villa for an undisclosed fee and has put pen to paper on a five-year deal at St. James' Park. Clark came up through the ranks at Villa Park before making his debut in August 2009, while still a teenager. It wasn't long before he became a regular in the Villa side and over the following six seasons made a further 158 appearances, scoring ten goals. The centre-back has also won 19 caps for the Republic of Ireland, representing his nation at Euro 2016 this summer. "Newcastle is a massive club so I'm really happy to be here," said Clark. "Importantly, it is a club that is moving in the right direction and pushing for the right things, so I'm really excited to now be a part of that. "Things seem to have progressed really quickly over the last few days but I'm delighted to have got it all done and be a part of this squad." Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez added: "Ciaran is a very versatile player, as a left-footed centre-back he can also play left-back and also as a defensive midfielder. "He has a lot of experience of English football and will add good balance and competition to our squad. "I am sure he will progress with us here at Newcastle, we are very happy for him to join us." That's telling, isn't it.
  3. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2262633/Newcastle-set-bid-9m-Ajaxs-Siem-Jong.html EXCLUSIVE: Newcastle plot bold £9m swoop for Ajax playmaker De Jong Newcastle are planning to bring the brilliant Ajax captain Siem de Jong to the Premier League in a £9million deal that will show their transfer ambition. De Jong, 23, is a playmaker who can play either in midfield or attack. He can also play as an old-fashioned No 10 and his capture will excite the Newcastle fans http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlgPVyGnm-A&feature=player_embedded
  4. According to Keith Downie from Sky Sports it's now a loan deal
  5. FFS Horrible luck for the lad too. Euros and all.
  6. Signing tomorrow according to various sources. Know nothing about him but looks strong and determined. 7.5m euro CD/RB "The centre back, who attracted interest from the likes of Atletico Madrid earlier in the summer, is expected to join his team mate Aleksandar Mitrović in swapping Belgium for Benton, as the striker was snapped arriving on Tyneside ahead of a £12.3 million move on Sunday. The terms of 20-year-old Mbemba’s deal are up in the air. Prices ranging between £6 million-£10 million have been rumoured in the press, which would take United’s spending well past the £30 million mark. In the double swoop, United seem to have addressed their two main problem areas, with the now inevitable (surely) sale of Williamson the potential cherry on top of a very sweet cake for Newcastle fans. While Mitrovic’s reputation has gone before him slightly, not too much is known about Mbemba within the ranks of the Toon Army. Although after reading this article, the Congolese international’s potential arrival will be sure to set the appetite. Here’s 10 things every Newcastle United fan should know about Chancel Mbemba…" There’s little doubting the 20-year-old’s strongest position is at centre half. Although, the type of player he is means he is just as comfortable when asked to play at right back. Mbemba, as you will learn in upcoming entries, isn’t the biggest player while his technical ability on the ball and athleticism lends itself to the rigours of being a modern day full back. That ability on the ball, coupled with his defensive nous and eye for danger, means he can also play the holding midfield role when called upon. The Congolese international has flourished in all three positions over in Belgium, which means Untied could use him in a number of ways when he is all signed up and ready to make his first team bow."
  7. Newcastle United have completed their third summer signing with the arrival of winger Matt Ritchie from AFC Bournemouth. The 26-year-old Scotland international has agreed a five-year deal at St. James' Park, and follows goalkeeper Matz Sels and striker Dwight Gayle to Tyneside. Ritchie spent three-and-a-half years at Bournemouth, making 142 appearances, scoring 31 goals and recording 29 assists. He helped the Cherries lift the League One and Championship titles, as well as playing a key role in establishing Bournemouth in the Premier League last season. Previously, Ritchie started his career at Portsmouth and spent time on loan at Dagenham & Redbridge, Notts County and Swindon Town, before joining the Robins permanently. "It's an unbelievable feeling to come to a football club like this," said Ritchie. "I loved it at Bournemouth - I had a fantastic time there and it had a huge impact on my career. But when a club like Newcastle comes calling, I couldn't pass up this opportunity. "It's fantastic to be here and I'm really looking forward to the challenge of getting the Club back in the Premier League." Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez said: "We have been following some wingers for a while and Matt was one of the best prospects for this team. "He has great ability and pace, and as soon as we knew that Andros Townsend could be leaving, our priority was to finalise this deal. "We have signed an exciting winger who has experience in the Championship but has also proved that he can step up to the top level. I am delighted that he is now part of our squad." Welcome to Newcastle!
  8. A 12 million quid deal (17 mil euro) apparently. Also rumours of Cabella going the other way on loan with option to buy. Seems a bit odd to loan/sell Cabella after one season where he has been played out of position on the wing seeing that he's a no. 10. And this Thauvin, never really heard of him. Dunno what he's like. I dinnar if anyone here is a polyglot so what he said^ was: 'Florian Thauvin is going to sign for Newcastle. The Cabella loan move to Marseille is not yet official.'
  9. Have to admit I didnt know anything about him. He seemed to decent talent, pacey with good dribble. crossing was meh. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2623173/Rolando-Aarons-hailed-Newcastles-high-hope-Peter-Beardsley.html anyone seen much of him? just another squad filler?
  10. Newcastle United have completed the signing of striker Dwight Gayle from Crystal Palace Newcastle United have completed the signing of Dwight Gayle from Crystal Palace. The 25-year-old striker arrives at St. James' Park for an undisclosed fee and has put pen to paper on a five-year deal. Gayle began his professional career at Dagenham & Redbridge and spent time on loan at Bishop's Stortford and Peterborough United before joining the latter permanently in January 2013. However, just six months later Palace made their move for the front man in a then-club record switch, and Gayle spent three seasons at Selhurst Park, finishing as the Eagles' top scorer in each of them and featuring in the 2016 FA Cup final at Wembley. "It's a dream come true to be at a big club like this," said Gayle. "Newcastle has a massive fan base and a great history so it is amazing to be here. "I can't wait to get started, prove myself and score the goals that take us back up to the Premier League. It's where this Club belongs." Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez added: "Dwight is a great player, a proven goalscorer, and it is fantastic news that he has joined us. "He has a big personality, a lot of energy and pace. He is a good finisher also, so he will add goals to our squad, for sure. "He knows English football well, too, and that is important in the Championship. "I am sure Dwight will want to prove he can make a big difference to our team and I am looking forward to working with him." Welcome to Newcastle!
  11. Midfielder Mohamed Diame has become Newcastle United's latest arrival, after signing from Hull City for an undisclosed fee. The 29-year-old Senegal international has agreed a three-year deal at the Club and becomes the eighth player to join the Magpies' first team squad this summer. Diame began his career with French side Lens, before moving to Spain, where he turned out for Linares and Rayo Vallecano. He joined Wigan Athletic in August 2009 and has spent the last seven years in England, turning out for the Latics, West Ham United and Hull City. Last season he scored the only goal in the Championship play-off final at Wembley, as the Tigers booked their place back in the Premier League. At international level, Diame has won 28 caps since making his senior debut in March 2011, and featured for his country at the 2012 Olympics. "It is a great feeling to be a Newcastle player," he said. "Everybody close to me knows how desperate I am to play in the Premier League again, but when Newcastle comes in for you it makes you think. "I am looking to the future. Newcastle is a big name, a massive club and will be back in the Premier League, for sure." Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez added: "Mohamed is a strong, attack-minded player with a lot of fight and determination to his game. "He is also someone who will provide the team with goals and assists from midfield. "He has good experience of the Championship and the fight needed to win promotion, which will be important for us." Welcome to Newcastle!
  12. Usually a player gets their own thread months before he signs!!!! We must be slipping Anyway, heard a few people on the radio today who have followed his football and reckon we are getting a really top notch player at a steal. Talking in similar terms to Cabaye in regard to what an excellent signing he will be for us. If Cabaye misses tomorrow I wonder whether is viable to start him given he may not even have trained with our players. Probably not.
  13. Passed his medical and set to be confirmed tonight, by all accounts. 24 year old keeper which suggests Krul is away, possibly to Everton, possibly to learn how to make saves with his right hand, who knows?
  14. As usual I know nowt about our latest signing but I must say I like the look of his you tube compilation. Now I know anyone can look decent in a few minutes of highlights, but I particularly like the many different type of goals he scores. The flicks, the round the keeper, the power shot, the dribble and score, the poacher. Now I'm sure given his age and lukewarm reception he's probably in the donkey category, but I am actually excited to see him play http://youtu.be/LvA6nErcnD8
  15. He finally signed: Got lost in all the Sissoko news. Don't really know much about the bloke other then seeing a canny goal from him at the ACoN, hopefully he does well since Aarons is out for a while.
  16. Bit of insight into what Blackburn fans think of him http://www.brfcc.com/mb/index.php/topic/31201-grant-hanley/page-1
  17. Next in apparently. 31 and can play both full back positions. Makes sense, would allow Dummet to move inside. Would need to hit the ground running at the age however Stevie will be happy
