  1. My first choice would be Andy Burnham, but Corbynista ran him out of town.
  2. Well this is awkward. I thought he seemed alright...
  3. What colour is the sky on your planet? You really need to stop over thinking it. The public overwhelmingly rejected Corbyn and the remain turncoats are almost all on the political scrapheap, timing was irrelevant. Shoe horning Corbyn into power would only ever have been temporary, and may have lead to the Brexit party holding some form of power. Hopefully the lesson will be learnt and Labour will return to centre ground by appoint someone who is actually electable - like Stephen Kinock. Unfortunately I fear the rot will be there for years to come and another daft appointment is on the horizon - like Keir Starmer.
  4. Indeed. You can add Dianna Abbott having a front bench role to that list.
  5. I've never understood the remain stance of a second referendum. There is no way the leave campaign will accept a second referendum that is anything other than leave no deal or leave with this deal. What is the colour of the sky on your planet? Think about it. Leave won, the follow up question can only be "how". To suggest you can overturning the original vote with a narrower leave option vs remain is laughable. The outcome would be ignored and the Brexit party would run in the next GE picking up a lot of protest votes. Wake up and smell the coffee. You lost accept it. If you truly want to stop no deal, stop blocking every option on the table. The next election will be a hung parliament and the king makers will be either the Lib Dems or the Brexit party. Remain are playing a very risky game. Foolish if you ask me when you factor in they are banking on Corbyn.
  6. Well thats nonsense. All he has to do is pass a bill that says "Notwithstanding the Fixed-term Parliaments Act, we will have a general election on 14 October.", which would only require a majority. link
  7. What about people who believe in Corbyn
  8. How is he fucked?? He needed to purge the party of remainers so he can enter a general election with a clear pro brexit mandate, deal or no deal. Labour/Libdem will split the remain vote. I read earlier today that as a current member of the EU, we can veto our own extension request, which could use it to push through a general election.
  9. I wonder what he'll say about his injury playing for England. Against medical advise. We got 10m compo, that is rarely mentioned. That's really the event that fucked up his career. Signing players that didn't want to be here. I get the feeling we may be doing that again.
  10. Most clubs break the news via an elaborate twitter video. We let some bloke take a pic on the stadium tour. The comments seem to suggest its Moussa Marega.
  11. Atlanta have signed a designated player (a playmaker), MLS only let teams have three and he's their fourth. Is any other club in for Almiron?
  12. That's mental. It makes a mockery of the whole process. How can anyone not think that's a red? I can only think the ref included it in his report. Possibly saying the tackle he recieved prior swayed his decision to let both go.
  13. The books have been presented with one aim - to present Ashley in the best light possible. The cynic would believe the misleading 90m headline is to make out he is the savior of Newcastle United, and implies anyone who says otherwise is delusional. The truth is more likely they are trying to quash any expectations of spending more than last summer. It's rather concerning that Ashley didnt use this opportunity to court potential buyers to drive up the price.
  14. We have a PR guy? I'd have love to see that job advert.
  15. Can one of our financially minded posters explain the significance of the 90m being an Operating Loss. My understanding is, it only includes income and expenses for that year. So Capital expenditure (player sales/purchases, income for past player sales/purchase) are either excluded or only include the 12 month value. As I'm pretty sure this is significant as Ashley said we would only ever buy players in full. And I know we sell on tick e.g. Sissoko for 6m a year x5 years. In my mind we at least broke even last year. Just not in cash flow (purchase in full vs player sales on ticks full income value).
  16. You cant have seen him play much for Bolton. He's crap. No sense of positioning, not strong enough and wastes easy chances. He's too good for League One and too sh*t for the Championship. He's basically a poor mans Dwight Gayle.
  17. Pretty sure he rested Atsu with Saturday in mind. He's was man of the match against West Ham - made Zabaleta look well past it.
  18. Ashley doesn't have to bank roll Rafa. The club can buy players and pay in instalments. Pretty much the norm in football. So the new buyer would foot the bill. It's more likely the buyer is stalling until they feel comfortable we won't go down. Which at this rate will be May.
  19. If Ashley does want to sell and there are people seriously looking to buy. All Ashley has to do is allow the club to buy players on installments.
  20. Some peope have very short memories. Boumsong had a hell of a lot going on off the field and was commuting to France every week. Labelling him an epic flop isn't really fair. http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11678/2357874/souey-lay-off-boumsong
  21. I'm pinning all my hope of Rafa staying to a resignation clause in his contract. Keegan https://www.theguardian.com/football/2009/oct/02/kevin-keegan-constructive-dismissal-newcastle Pardew http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/alan-pardew-opens-up-left-8407022 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/crystal-palace/11334443/Crystal-Palaces-Alan-Pardew-reveals-difficulties-of-Newcastle-job.html
  22. I think it was mutual. We only had one fit goal keeper at the start of the season, as both Krul and Elliott were out until October. We signed Sels in June and Krul left in August. His contract was set to expire in 2017 and he signed a one year extension, so we'd get a fee out of Ajax and to push through the loan deal.
  23. I thought the rules were changed this year to say it was only a yellow with a pen? http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/10242286/ifab-anounces-law-changes-softening-rules-on-fouls-in-the-penalty-area
