  1. Their signings have been woeful. We should beat them comfortably.
  2. With Shane long going for 12m. We should hold out for st least 14m. And only if we can get Grenier.
  3. I doubt we went in for him, as i dont think getting tubbed in the Champions League is a bigger draw than the Premiership?
  4. If I recall he was alright the few times he played right back. But then I wasn't a fan of Simpson, so he might have been the taller dwarf.
  5. Yeah, that how i remember it. The point i wanted to make was the club made no effort to remove Ba's contract clause because in the summer Cisse was seen as the better player and everyone knew they couldn't play together. It still seems odd that we didn't go back in for Ba.
  6. It's a massive concern, which is why I'd be surprised if we signed him. His record wasn't too bad before he lost his place in the team.
  7. Planning permission has been approved and work starts at the end of this season. For completion by Xmas. http://www.nufc.co.uk/articles/20131130/united-announce-new-training-ground-plans_2281670_3555556 http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/newcastle-united-submit-plans-new-6729068 It might go some way to explain why we havent spent the TV money.
  8. How do you persuade him to stay when Arsenal make a 12m bid? Money is the only thing I can think of; and Debuchy simply isn't that good to be throwing money at. Almost everyone is a stepping stone club these days. Tottenham regularly sell their top player. Suarez has just left Liverpool. As long as you get top fees and line up a replacement I don't see what's the big deal.
  9. Cisse and Ba couldn't play together and at the time (the summer before he left) Cisse was the better player. So I can understand the resistance to rocking the wages boat. Its a lot worse looking back knowing the Ba money came in the same window QPR nabbed Remy. We could easily have got Ba back this window, so maybe there's more too it.
  10. You have to be realistic. Debuchy was always likely follow Cabaye out the door. So it's more about having a plan. Sure we have no idea how the player will work out, but you can't fault the way we handled the transfer.
  11. Selling players is perfectly acceptable and probably should be encouraged, especially when teams are paying well over the odd and a replacement is lined up - e.g. Debuchy: 12m and Janmaat: 5m; Nolan: 3.5m and Cabaye: 5.5m. It's the not buying we all have the issue with. Cabella clearly could have came in last January. Debuchy was delayed six months over 500k. Remy went to QPR ffs. The man is a right cheap skate and doesnt care how good the starting 11 is, as long as we stay up. These two players at Lyon are the current "wait until the price drops".
  12. . Do you think booing Pardew's will change the way Ashley runs the club? At best it'll make him rethink HBA. At worst he'll get sacked and replaced with someone like Hockaday at Leeds
  13. I just skimmed the 1-11, which is missing a midfielder. Cabaye wore 4 and imo has not been replaced yet.
  14. Its not that far fetched to say 1-11 would normally be filled.
  15. http://www.nufc.co.uk/articles/20140809/united-complete-lascelles-and-darlow-deal_2281670_4055609
  16. I'm pretty sure Jonas knew he wasn't part of the when he was sent to Norwich.
  17. The rumour doing the rounds is he's being offer to Lyon. Gonalons turned down Roma, so it'll be for either Lacazette or Grenier.
  18. oh yeah. I skimmed the 1-11 and spotted it was missing a midfielder. Would make sense for williamson to be 5 not 6
  19. Leaving the No5 shirt vacant suggest we are still after a midfielder.
  20. First game of the season at home, lots of new signings playing to impress, so anything is possible. Doubt we'll win mind. 0-2
  21. Either way the team has had a lot of money spend on it, so leaving Ben Arfa out in the cold will put an enormous amount of pressure on him. If he doesnt get a couple of early results I can see this decision coming back to haunt him. Especially as the crowd look set to chant his name.
  22. You list some good player, but he's only ever had 11 "purple" players and some of them were questionable (Simpson). Most of the top 6 teams have 15-20 high earners. So he should definitely get a lot more credit than people give him. It's a long season, so the outcome is no fluke. Average median is fair assessment, if you accept we can't attract an elite manager. I'd possibly put him at the middle-to-higher end of average 6-10th
  23. Blame the manager when things go wrong, but give him no credit when we perform. Nice. Man-u, Man-c, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham all had infinitely better squads.
