  1. Jermaine Beckford is not a workhorse and not an impact player, he has a fairly sloppy first touch and a relatively high opinion of his abilities. Regardless of all this he can finish as good as any striker outside the top 4 of the Premier League and has superb off ball movement. Simon Cox signed for West Brom for £1.5 in the summer from League 1 Swindon, last season Jermain Beckford played 12 less league games than him and netted 26 goals to Simon Cox's 29. This should give you a pretty clear indication of why Jermaine Beckfords value is considerably more than £1.5m. I have watched the guy play at Wealdstone, Scunthorpe and Leeds and was asked to track him 2 years ago for a now Premier League club. So any concerns as to wether the lad can cut in the Championship are highly unjustified however with regards to those concerns in the top flight I can almost assure you Jermaine would be inadeqaute. The major question for Newcastle at the moment, is he worth £30,000 a week ? I fully expect Jermaine Beckford to be starting next years Championship season in a Leeds United shirt.
  2. Forget the training problems, laziness and whatever else he can be suspect of and concentrate on the power, skill and lets be fair real quality. Would he be a good bet on pay-as-you-play? Leeds have been in "informal discussions" with him so the wages must have dropped. The guy was nearly a Barca player so at this level surely he wouldn't be all that bad
  3. Seriously I like Alan he talks sense but sometimes us as supporters (on any level) almost come across like the shop owners from League Of Gentlemen. Why do some people insist on everything being local ? Give me a choice of an unproven, emotionally attactched manager or a nasty cunt who steadied the ship last time and will put anyone in their place and I would without hesitation go for the latter.
  4. Been told Sturridge as well, problem with wages though I think
  5. Like that matters! and it doesn;t It does Does it really??? Chris' opinion matters to MA and DL? That's odd... it didn't for KK. The only thing that does matter is the price tag. MA will buy a player if it has one of those neon pink 75% off tags he uses in his shops. Not what anyone else thinks. Chris has the only has the loan market available to him unless the takeover goes through sooner than expected s any players we bring in are on Chris's say so. Currently re-negotiating Bale's wage
  6. O' Hara good but not needed in my opinion and Chris isn't really a fan I don't think, Bale is all but confirmed at at the moment and I would love to see Giovanni at SJP
  7. I was asked a while ago by a club which I can't disclose to compare Caleb Folan and Jermaine over a 5 week period,on the points system I devised guess who came out on top ? The club refused the somewhat ridiculous transfer fee set by Leeds after the 5-2 win over Chester
  8. Having spoken with a few officials at Leeds and Simon Grayson's wife Beckford asked for a new contract worth £29,000 a week a few months ago and that has resulted in Simon and Ken Bates trying to get rid of him. He's been taken off the transfer list to supposedly improve his market value Bates has come down to a figure of £2m just to prevent him leaving on a free. GET HIM SIGNED !
  9. We need rebuilding right the way through the team and the club infrastructure. Top 2 candidates for me: George Graham Nigel Clough However within 2 weeks we will have a member of the Royle family confirmed as manager, I'm sure thats easy enough to work out.
  10. Exactly. Far from last minute you tool, every one was well timed and howcome he didn't even recieve a yellow if they were sending off tackles
  11. Do you not think the fact that Smith (because that's who people were referring to with the comment) looks to have found his level in the Championship because he's looked good so far in it and looked gash in the Premier League playing in a similar role? No. Smith has loooked good/outsanding in the champ because he is playing below his level. Smith played how many PL games last year ?? and even so wasn't playing 100% fit in all of them. He hasn't been that good man. He's looked good sitting in front of the back four. To contrast that, Smith's had about 1 good PL game for Newcastle and that was upfront. He's a woeful midfielder in PL terms. I really disagree with you there he has always been able to play in the midfield, he played at Leeds for quite some time in the centre of midfield under the guidance of David Batty and excelled even at 20 years of age. I no it will sound like I am just being biased towards him now but I have a lot of friends who still socialise with Smithy and let's just say he has had a few off the record approaches from a few small time PL clubs and you can work out the rest

  13. Smith, Barton, Taylor and Enrique would all be big losses. The main factor for me in selling a player is their subsequent replacement wether that be someone already in the squad or a completely new face. Martins Viduka Owen Bassong Beye Duff For example by bringing in say; Beckford, K Phillips, Simpson (years loan), Kewell, Campbell, Taarabt, and Bouma. We would sufficiently replace the players positions, reduce the wages considerably from the old players and strengthen the squad across several areas.

  15. Why would premiership teams keep coming in for our players if they have "found their level" in the CCC ?? To be honest I would drive Duff up to London for £4m because the quality we could get in the champ on a massively reduced wage is a far better option. Smith, Barton and Taylor would be players that no way should we be getting rid of
  16. SUPERB !!! Controlled defence and attack from start to finish and put some pride into wearing the fucking badge. Get him and Joey starting against Reading with Xisco and Andy upfront and even with all our problems we look strong.
  17. O'Leary would be a good option in my opinion, good with foreign signings and brilliant with youth. Shearer is all good and well as a manager but right now we need stability and someone with vast experience and of course of a club once in a similiar situation would be only good for us
