  1. This will be really funny if Spurds actually appoint a decent manager and sparks a revival........... Seriously, this could be crap news from our point of view.
  2. Taken Rubbish, Liam Neeson totally miscast, predictable formulaic cack.

  8. Some fucker got in through my back door and nicked my laptop and her mobile, I got home this morning after a nightshift and found the backdoor ajar, checked that nothing stealable had been taken, everything seemed in place, the PS3, the Wii, iPod camcorder etc. got up at about 12pm to watch the match and found my laptop had gone and her phone. Still can't believe a thief would take the time to disconnect a laptop from a monitor cable and USB hub, unplug the powersupply rather than fill his pockets with the easy stuff. Anyhow the police have been round and dusted for prints, luckily the porn drive wasn't taken, but I shit myself when the CSI dude came round in case he had that little ultraviolet torch thing that shows up human protene, my office chair would have looked like Blackpool illumiations.
  9. The Telegraph: Newcastle United are reportedly close to agreeing a £300 million takeover deal with Kuwaiti billionaire Masser Al-Kharafi. By Emily Benammar Last Updated: 9:47AM BST 24 Oct 2008 Sticking around: Joe Kinnear will sign a new contract keeping him as interim manager for another month Photo: GETTY IMAGES Talks with the 48th richest man in the world have been ongoing this week, and sources close to the businessman believe a firm offer will be made to Mike Ashley. Though a spokesman has claimed “nothing serious” is going on, Al-Kharafi was named one of the seven groups interested in the club a few weeks ago. Should the deal go through it will be channelled through an Abu Dhabi company, but Al-Kharafi will be the man behind it. “Newcastle intrigues them,” a source told the Sun. “There’s a real chance they could get the club. “It is possible the deal could be done by next week.” Meanwhile, interim manager Joe Kinnear is set to sign a new one-month contract. The 61-year-old will extend his stay on Tyneside, which was due to expire at the end of October, until the end of November by agreeing a rolling deal. “I will be signing a new contract, but it will be for another month,” Kinnear said. “It’s a monthly situation because I know they are in talks - who with, I have no idea - but they are in talks and what they are doing, it is just like a rolling contract, one month after another month, and then take it from there. “During the week, there were three or four managers mentioned. Gerard Houllier - there were so many, I lost count. Sven-Goran Eriksson was in there as well. “I don’t know, really. There are so many consortiums.” Whatever happens behind the scenes over the next few weeks and months, Kinnear insists he is enjoying every minute of his big chance. He said: “I love it. It’s the best thing I have ever done, it really is. “I have tried on numerous occasions to get myself back in. All the interviews that I’d had, I had asked if I could just make a statement and have them listen to what I had to say. “But it was, 'How’s your heart?’, 'How’s your medical situation?’, so really, I was written off, to be honest. “This is a fantastic opportunity for me to let everybody know I am back in the business. “If it’s not to be at Newcastle, I understand that, if Kevin Keegan is on his way back. “But you never know what will happen to me, if I do a good job here, where it is going to take me. “I have got to make sure a do a really great job for the short period of time I am here.”

  11. I used to do a bit of climbing when I was at high school, not many crags in East Anglia but a few good climbing walls, great fun and you don't have to climb high to enjoy it, arguably traversing is harder than assent, although I gave up after a good friend that I had introduced to climbing died on a fall on the Alps aged 18. RIP Chris, I'll never forget.
  12. Styles on the brink of quitting after Beye red card decision Controversial referee Rob Styles has been pushed to the brink of quitting as a Barclays Premier League referee after the FA on Thursday overturned Habib Beye's red card at St James' Park on Monday night. The Newcastle defender was dismissed for a professional foul on Manchester City's Robinho and Styles, one of the League's most experienced officials, refused to rescind the red card despite a plea by Newcastle interim manager Joe Kinnear. But Newcastle appealed to the FA disciplinary committee who backed the Newcastle full back and he is free to play in Saturday's derby at Sunderland. A friend of Styles said: 'Not only is Rob a top referee but in order to officiate at the top you need a great deal of resolve. He has had good support from his family and friends and that is what is keeping him in the game at the moment. 'But nobody would be surprised if that situation was to change because despite his love for the game there is only so much he can take.' He was at a meeting of fellow referees in Warwick on Tuesday after rejecting Kinnear's appeal and he was given the support of other officials who said they would have made the same call. However, his management and decision-making in the match was criticised by the assessor. Although Styles finds himself in emotional turmoil after the FA's decision, it has delighted Kinnear. The Newcastle manager, who confirmed captain Michael Owen is out of the 140th Tyne-Wear derby with a groin strain, said: 'That is one problem out of the way. That is fantastic news. I would have thought that is a victory for common sense and that is what I said to the referee. 'I did not lose my head with him. I said: "You will be surprised when you see the replay." One thing I thought at the time was that he was in a horrible position to call it as he did. Freeze the frame and he has two players in his view and he is craning his neck from behind to see it. 'There were two issues. The tackle, which was made just outside the box and carried into the box, and it was a long way to make the call a penalty.' Beye said: 'It was a bad decision but I can understand because he is human and when you are human you make mistakes. I got the ball and I could not believe it when he gave the penalty and the red card. You know as a defender when you have made the tackle and when I made that tackle I was 100 per cent confident I got the ball. 'I am glad I can play against Sunderland because games like this are why you are a footballer.'
  13. Bugger, I might as well turn around and head back home, my tea will be cold by the time I get to Pud-Towers.
  14. You aren't going to start sniggering at illogical beliefs are you ?
  15. 48% of Britons believe that Area 51 exists to investigate aliens and their spaceships. A massive 38% think that 9/11 was orchestrated by the US government. And 35% believe that the Apollo landing on the Moon was a hoax. A suspicious 32% are convinced that Diana, Princess of Wales, and Dodi Fayed were murdered. 25% think the Illuminati and the Masons are trying to take over the world. And would you believe Scientologists rule Hollywood? Well, 17% of those who took part in the survey would. Big Brother is watching - and 7% believe that barcodes are really intended to control people. And 6% are convinced that Microsoft sends messages via Wingdings. Another dark theory: some 5% believe the US government allowed Pearl Harbour to happen. And 3% think the world is run by dinosaur-like reptiles! The poll also revealed that 61% believe in aliens. And 52% think ghosts exist.

Compared to our usual logistical issues, its practically next door ! Does this mean I can put the Custard-Creams away now ? If there's one thing I wouldn't eat at your house it's custard creams. They are very creamy...... in a salty kind of way.

  19. Styles ready to admit he got Beye call wrong Alan Biggs The Guardian, Wednesday October 22 2008 Newcastle United are likely to succeed in having Habib Beye cleared for Saturday's north-east derby against Sunderland, with the referee Rob Styles expected to admit that he got a tight call wrong after examining replays of Beye's challenge on the Manchester City striker Robinho in Monday's 2-2 draw. A further indication that Styles is perceived to have got a second high-profile penalty award in three weeks wrong came in the decision not to let him referee a Premier League game this weekend. Instead he will be fourth official at Stamford Bridge on Sunday for Chelsea's match with Liverpool, before returning to the middle in a Championship game between Bristol City and Sheffield United next Tuesday. Newcastle's appeal over Beye's sending-off will be heard by the Football Association tomorrow. Refereeing sources maintain that Styles has not been dropped, with Beye's dismissal viewed as a misjudgment rather than a blatant mistake such as the penalty Styles recently gave Manchester United against Bolton, to whom he later apologised. Meanwhile, Manchester City's manager, Mark Hughes, has been told that Micah Richards did not break a bone in his ankle at Newcastle on Monday, as had been feared. The defender has been diagnosed with strained ligaments, and will miss Sunday's match against Stoke.
