KEVIN KEEGAN last night opened the door for an amazing Toon return as a South African consortium tabled an official bid. The Boks have offered Mike Ashley £280million for the club and are keen for King Kev to take charge again. The Newcastle idol flew back from a break in the USA to tell pals he is ready to take up the reins once new owners are found. The South Africans are one of SEVEN groups trying to buy out Ashley but are the only ones to have made an offer. If Ashley accepts, King Kev could return this month. A source close to Keegan said: “Kevin has had a great break, is feeling refreshed and wants to return. “He knows what it would mean for all the fans and he wants a fresh crack at the club he loves. “Of course, new owners have to come in but he has been pleased to see his name mentioned by prospective buyers. “He is now just waiting to see what happens with things.” Keegan’s return would instantly lift the Toon Army from the crisis which has ripped the club apart following his controversial exit. Financiers Seymour Pierce hope to have a buyer confirmed by the end of the week with a mystery Nigerian consortium fronted by British businessman Chris Nathaniel also still keen.

Me too, before I became a slap head, I had the full "Eddie Vedder" long curly locks, and remember going out on the town with one of my mates, he bumped into one of his friends from work who asked him: "is that your bird ?" One glance told him all he needed to know. maybe it was more Edna Vedder than Eddie......

Just got emailed this joke: Taken from Elizabeth Fritzi's diary Monday: Stayed in, dad came down and fucked me. Tuesday: Got fucked by dad. Wednesday: Stayed in, dad fucked me. Thursday: Stayed in, got fucked by dad. Friday: Stayed in, dad fucked me. Saturday: Went to see Spurs play, wish I had stayed in. -
I'm undecided still on Given, one week he looks like superman then next like SuperGran.

Considering the state of both clubs at the moment, this thread is like two bald men arguing over a comb.

I think he's going for the dignified silence approach pending his claim for constructive dismissal.

I haven't been so depressed since my Mrs had to talk me down from the roof after the semi-final against Chelsea.

SA consortium prepare Magpies bid A consortium of South Africa businessmen were on Sunday reported to be interested in purchasing crisis-ridden Premier League side Newcastle. Newcastle have already been in talks with a group of Nigerian tycoons trying to put together enough funds to meet owner Mike Ashley's 400 million pound asking price. A group of British-based tycoons whose fortune has been made from rescuing and rejuvenating household brands around the world, have emerged as a second white knight. A report in The News of the World suggests the South Africans have put together a 350m pound offer for the Magpies. "We are serious about Newcastle, we believe they are an iconic institution who deserve to be run professionally," an unnamed spokesman for the South Africans told the paper. The spokesman added that Kevin Keegan, who quit as manager this month, was the key to the group taking control, with another favourite son of the Tyneside club, Alan Shearer, also in their thoughts. He said: "Kevin is integral to our plans. We want Kevin to be fully committed to the team and we hope to find a role for Alan Shearer. "We are not personalities. We like to be in the background, we need to be in the background." The group are confident of turning around Newcastle's fortunes, with the spokesman saying: "The existing management structure has not worked so we'll pay Mike Ashley what it takes to get rid of him. "The level of expertise we have is in discovering the real problem preventing success. We want to find the root problem and turn the club around. "We will give the Newcastle fans what they want." Joe Kinnear has been appointed as an interim manager until the sale of the club goes through. It's an uphill battle for Kinnear as the Magpies slumped to their fifth successive loss, this time to Blackburn, to leave them rooted one off the bottom of the table

I agree with the man... all good points. He's a canny lad. Regardless of what some might say, we'll miss him when he's gone. I watched the Kinnear interview that links to as well. I thought he came across alright. Obviously a bit out of his depth and a fucking weird situation, but we can't blame him for that. From what it seems, Kinnear's greatest strengths is is man management and motivational skills, which is exactly what we need right now.

MIKE ASHLEY’S reign at Newcastle could be over within five weeks after a South African consortium emerged as favourites for a Tyneside takeover. The group would pay £350million to oust Ashley. Amazingly thebillionaire could even benefit from an auction after a Nigerian consortium launched their own bid on Friday. But the British-based South Africans are confident they are in pole position with their track record of reviving ailing global brands. A spokesman said: “We are serious about Newcastle, we believe they are an iconic institution who deserve to be run professionally.” The five-man South African consortium has drawn up legal papers and has contacted brokers Seymour Pierce — the firm Ashley has put in charge of selling the Tyneside club. Ashley was absent at St James' Park as his side slumped to yet another devastating defeat - 2-1 to Blackburn - their fifth in succession. And now it could be just weeks before he and the rest of Newcastle's hapless hierarchy is gone for good.

Horribly over rated by some of the media, he is firmly in Bramble territory and the sooner he's out of the team the better.
