  1. Exactly. That proves it. And so would I, by the way.
  2. We'll suddenly find ourselves ahead of lots of clubs who go the way of Portsmouth. And I won't be shedding any tears for those clubs - any idiot can say yee that don't pay 50,000 a week for someone to play football. Tom, they win trophies, but there's only one trophy that makes them happy (The CL), after a few years of being mega-rich. And even that will eventually be banalised.
  3. We are competing - just not with joke clubs who pay 100s of thousands a week to players. As far as i'm concerned they are the joke clubs.
  4. I think Nolan was excellent. But I will always say we shouldn't pay anyone 50,000 a week. I think real sportsmanship is about doing as well as you can on the pitch, with whoever is prepared to do the job for a reasonably sensible salary. Let other clubs waste money, like Sunderland have, Villa have, Portsmouth have and Cardiff have. Up the Toon on sensible wages!
  5. I don't care. He would rather take 12.5 million out of West Ham than play Premiership football for us. That's his choice. it embarrasses me watching football fans demand that their own club pays players 50,000 a week. If other clubs are that stupid, then let them be. We should be giving all on the pitch, the finances should be done on a basis which shows some respect to working-class people. Oh, and the ticket prices should be reduced.
  6. I'm just angry with the media. We are a Premiership club that stands up against agents. Why aren't they giving us more credit?
  7. I wonder why people are behaving in such a moronic way. Oh well, better then than me.
  8. How do you think English literature should be taught in schools? Should Shakespeare maintain his throne? Should rap and hip hop be included? Should Old English be taught? Should we put it in a historical context? Which writers would you put at the forefront? To get the ball rolling, I'll say that Shakespeare should be taught as the great one in English literature. Rap and hip hop should be taught, as long as they don't encourage criminatl behaviour, and the teacher is able to convey their message to the pupils. Old English should be an option, together with other foreign languages, but it should be compulsary to learn one language that isn't modern English. Literature should be taught in a historical context. Shakespeare's life and times would be an excellent accompaniment of Shakespeare. Well, Shakespeare needs to be at the forefront, along with Ecclesiastical history of English people byBede (I know he was a Mackem, so it pains me to say it), Beowulf, Chaucer, Swift, Pope, Blake, Bronte sisters, Dickens, Thackeray, Wilde, Konrad, Woolf, Wodehouse, Joyce, Owen, Heaney, Beckett, Pinter and Hornby.
  9. I apologise for saying it was utter crap that Shearer was to be Cardiff manager. I see that he is in talks with Cardiff City. I need to be less arrogant. I hope Shearer takes the job. Managers should start in lower leagues, or, as with Beardsley, with reserve teams. Good luck to Alan Shearer with Cardiff. I predict that he, McClaren and Sven will be competing in the top - so a former England captain, and 2 former England managers.
  10. Do you play croquet? No, haha It's the initial posting in this thread which is garbage But it gives me a laugh, thinking how the penny will soon drop. What a nugget McFaul will look
  11. They shouldn't earn money, playing for the Toon. Just being a Toon player, means they've got a chance to score with all the women in the Bigg Market.
  12. Not everyone agrees with that. And I suppose you aren't one of those people who think everyone who disagrees with you is an idiot?
  13. Well, I'm surprised if so many strikers in France are scoring so many goals. Oh well, these forums are here to inform.
  14. Ant, sub appearances are on average 15 minutes long. Anyone who counts a sub appearance as equal to a normal start is a nugget. And you are living in cloud donkey land if you think 1 in 3 is shite. We are living in an age where strikers don't score as many goals as they used to.
  15. Going purely on your link, It really isn't, the bit in bold highlighting why. 010/11 French Ligue 1 GAMES 33 - GOALS 8 - ASSISTS 1 - SHOTS 78 So a couple of attempts per game is good for a striker these days is it?...worse when he can only put away 1 in 10 of them....in France 8 goals in 28 starts is excellent, even though the French leagues isn't as good as the Premiership.
  16. Indeed, the amount of "spin" does my head in, "Yes we're after this player, he's our #1 target.....oh wait we've missed out on them, but the guy he's replacing at ClubX OMG what a player he's our #1 target!" rinse repeat that cheap backup left back, Ba on a free, HBA "like a new signing" done for incomings. Well, the spin isn't coming from the club. And he started 28 matches, not 33 (in the other 5 he was only a sub)
  17. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/player/_/id/8...-erding?cc=5739 2010-2011 Started: 28 league matches Scored: 8 Assists: 1 So he seems to be a jolly good striker, I'd say. (and yes, I know that isn't proven, all the goals may have gone in off his arse, but still, a good indicator, in my opinion).
  18. This is the kind of knuckle-dragging rhetoric we've come to expect from the Shepherd-ites. Shut the fuck up you economic refugee. See what I mean?
