  1. Harry Redknapp should stop being derogatory about people who telephone radio stations. He's done it again now, and it's highly disrespectful. I've telephoned radio stations myself, so Harry Redknapp clearly thinks I'm a nugget.
  2. Yes, Billy Sharp is perfect. Excellent player, but small name. That's the kind of player I want - they won't be too expensive, and hold us to ransom.
  3. I never said you were anti-Ashley. I said the knuckle-draggers are. I don't know you well enough to pronounce you as such. If I believed telling the world that I was a staunch Mackem would gain Newcastle 1 extra point, next season, I'd tell the world I was a Mackem. The well-being of Newcastle is more important to me than whether people think I'm a Toon fan or not.
  4. honda, Polish cuisine is excellent. You ought to try it I recommend the Zurek or bigos! yummy
  5. I doubt he's a toon fan. Anyone who says "Up the Toon" sounds like a mole sent from Sky Sports. "Why aye lads, what you think of these latest signings? They sound ever so canny to me, Up The Toon, M'on the Magpies, Big Up the Barcodes" i know that the knuckle-dragging section of our fans (all clubs are cursed with a knuckle-dragging section) wouldn't approve of 'Up the Toon'. Fortunately, I don't give a damn what that lot of gorillas think. I'm happy when we do well, I'm gutted when we disappoint. I bet that doesn't apply to loads of the knuckle-draggers, who would rather we hadn't got promoted, so that they could have more people joining in their, increasingly meaningless chants of Ashley out.
  6. Yes, Arsenal are even more impressive than I thought.
  7. Happy face, the OP of this thread will be of interest to you, I think.
  8. As long as Newcastle operate in a sensible manner, and don't risk bankruptsy, other clubs can do whatever they want, as far as I'm concerned. But they ought to look at Chelsea supporters - the Chelsea experiment has proved that money doesn't make the fans any happier whatsoever, and the Chelsea fans are beginning to think about why exactly Abramovich bought them - there's only one possible explanation; he didn't feel loved enough, and needed an audience of gratitude. Once that wore off, what is he left with. It's a sad story. Newcastle and Ashley is a far more uplifting story. Ashley has quietly gone about things to do good for Newcastle United, and he has been extremely strong in that he hasn't let the barrage of hatred derail his quiet operations. More and more Toon fans are coming round to Mike Ashley, and beginning to respect him - anyone who denies this must be a Freddy-ite.
  9. Well, I'm very optimistic about Ba. A little more cautious about Marveaux. But as you imply, Up the Toon!
  10. I'm inclined to agree. Let's wait and see.
  11. We spend in the REGION of 10 million. With a margin of error of about 10 million
  12. Money is important to people. But not to football clubs. As long as we don't go bankrupt. Money just decides what league a club is in. If you spend half a billion, you're in the league of Man Uniteds, Chelseas and Man Cities. If you spend 10 million, you're in the league of us, Everton and West Brom and indeed Arsenal.. And there are many such leagues, and none is better than any other. By that I mean that winning one doesn't make the fans feel happier than winning another. So it doesn't matter how much money we spend, because it doesn't matter which league we're in, as regards happiness.
  13. Didn't he turn Liverpool down over terms? They're clearly the better option for any aspiring player. I've no idea what happened. Don't use questions as argument. All I know is that he hasn't tried to hold us to ransom. Man United are no different from Man City or Chelsea, after they caved in to Rooney's demands. (nothing against Rooney, he's a businessman).
  14. No, he's going for the money. But he's not tried to hold us to ransom, like Rooney did with Man United - and the knowledge that he did that will for ever taint anything he does for Man United.
  15. I never said money wasn't important. I'm sure Rooney is happy with his riches, he has worked hard to be a top footballer. But his heart doesn't play for Man United, anyone who thinks that is talking shite.
  16. Oh this obsession with spending lots of money. What is more impressive; an ant carrying a match stick, or a person carrying a book? We should aim to perform well in comparison with our outlay, whatever that may be. This attitude will free you from the vile demands to spend money. Football supporting wasn't invented so that we could encourage people to spend money - it was invented so that we could encourage people to play good football. Frankly, does Rooney play for Man U? Rooney plays for 150,000 a week, and that fact will put a black cloud on anything he does for Man United.
  17. if there not an added contribution from a midfield position i dont class that as replacing nolans goals , i expect those kinda numbers at least from our strikers , 10+ from a midfielder is going tobe a big miss if nobody steps up . why do i get the feeling this lad's knee is gonna play up on us for his full contract . Can anyone guess how many assists Nolan had in the Premier League last season. A grand total of... 2 http://www.premierleague.com/page/Statisti...,,12306,00.html
  18. We must keep Best. He scored 6 goals in 9 matches. He proved a lot of bafoons wrong. I call them bafoons, not because they were wrong, but because they appeared to do their best to reduce his self-confidence.
  19. When did we last sell a player who didn't put in a transfer request? Was it Geremi?
  20. In fairness, Chopra got 9 in 29 in that same season and Leon Best played for a much shitter team in coventry. Don't spoil it for him. It's the only pleasure they get, carefully selecting teeny details to suit their argument.
  21. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/player/_/id/3...on-best?cc=5739 Click the link above and you'll see extensive stats. If your stats don't distinguish between 10-minute appearances and 90-minute ones, what hope is there to glean valuable information from them. 2010-11 Premier League 9 starts, 6 goals, 0 assists (very good indeed, Leon) My conclusion: top notch, Leon Best!!! 2009-2010 2nd tier 30 starts, 8 goals, 5 assists My conclusion: Very good. Goal involvement in almost half your starts. 2008-2009 2nd tier 16 starts, 2 goals, 1 assist My conclusion: Not good, but it's a long time ago, and he was very young. 2007-08 2 starts, 0 goals, 0 assists My conclusion: Not enough matches for a conclusion. My final conclusion: It would be a mistake to sell him. I wonder if the club doctor has told them he's very injury prone.
  22. Yes, I enjoyed it very much. But plenty of people agreed with that fool Freddie when he sacked Bobby after finishing 5th in the league and taking us to a European semi-final in the same season. I was very much against the decision to sack Bobby. But if we had finished 9th this season, I would probably have been equally happy as I was with those performances, partly because I've adopted this new way of looking at things, AFTER Bobby's time in charge.
