1. And to think Robson was sacked because 5th wasn't good enough... In Robson's first two seasons we finished 11th A sensible point? we don't like sensible points in these parts. Comparing Glenn Roeder to Bobby Robson seems sensible to you? Put like that - no. On paper though, the point is fair enough. When SBR came to the club we were in trouble. But because of his past successes and track record; we were all more willing to give him time. Someone like him was bound to get us back up there. Roeder however is not afforded that luxury because he hasn't proved it yet. He can't boast the record necessary to vindicate it. This is why we're generally less convinced by him. He pulled us round last season. If he hadn't we'd be in a worse position. So far he's not done anything that would justify getting getting rid. Even so, it's not like we have World Class managers knocking on our door in a position to offer us a better deal. We played some lovely stuff tonight. We've played some awful stuff this season too, but there is the promise of better stuff here. We're not likely to shoot back up to the dizzy heights of 3/4/5th in the immediate future unless we can sign another inspirational manager who can catapulte us up the league(s) in the manner SBR or KK did. Both of those were also heroes in our eyes and brought with them something other managers could not emulate. Anyway, I'm getting deep now and I need another drink
2. Yes. KK bandwagon jumpers bore me ....... Especially when they don't admit it. Your constant reference to this bores me. We're not all as old as you. I'm 30 now - which is pretty old compared to many of the posters on here. When KK joined as manager I was about 15. I guess this makes me a KK bandwagon jumper. I went to my first match when I was 8, but I wasn't a regular go-er as money was tight in our house. People a few years younger than me will have been coming with their parents/older siblings during this time. So much of our experience of Newcastle stems from the KK era. Think about it this way, some of the posters on here were still in nappies when KK joined! By your logic, in 5/6 years time we'll need to start calling people SBR bandwagon jumpers after he rescued the club from it's potential demise. The fact that they were only just old enough then is irrelevant. Well done, you've supported the club for longer than many of us have been alive. Whilst that is an achievement which deserves some recognition (especially given our history) it does not give you the excuse to become bitter or resentful towards others because of it.
3. MTV Storytellers: Greenday - Whatsername (its a video, but I'm only listening, so it still counts )
4. Indeed, it's 79p for both an 'I told you they did it' AND a pretty canny cover version of 'Sunny Afternoon'. Bargaintastic!
5. 79p for one song? shit that'll be why i havent used itunes to buy any music yet! It's ok for buying full albums, but they work out around the same price as CD-Wow - much quicker though. However, for single tracks, like those found on 7 yr old singles - it comes into it's own.
6. Doesn't matter. Just found it on iTunes for £0.79. I'm off to put my 'I told you' hat on
7. Watched the second part on BBC 3 halk an hour after the first part. Cracking series opener. Can't wait for next week. Makes you think a bit though.... people have their own agenda's at work and it's just par for the course, at higher levels of govenment and National Security however it's a different game all together.
8. Has anybody got a copy of the Stereophonics cover of Sunny Afternoon? I used to have it on CD (b-side) until a theiving Uni housemate borrowed it and never gave it back. I had a drunken conversation with a hardcore phonics fan who said they'd not done it. It was a pretty canny cover too.
9. Jet - Cold Hard Bitch Just booked tickets to see them at Manchester Uni - £15! Lookin forward to seeing them
10. Saw them live last December - probably the loudest indoor gig I've been too. They were class. Now listening to the match
11. 176555 B)B)B)B)B)B)B)B) 179187 We need a guitar smiley! Those will have to do! Oh and aye, listening to black dog too, seeing as you all suggested it
12. Just like listening to the sound of yourself eh Tom? Good choice of bass though - it's got a more full bodied sound than some of the others. You really are axe-mad aren't you? If it has strings - I reckon you'd play it Cue T-Keith's next purchase - a double bass, or a violin (after all you can get electric ones.... although I don't reckon you'd look as good in a dress as Vanessa Mae did )
13. Aye, Razorlight's new album is more then just canny I'm thinking (despite me thinking it was bobbins compared to their first album after my first listen). Anyway, just deliberately listening to a random mix of stuff that doesn't make it onto my regular playlist like Slash's Snakepit (Shine) and Reef (Higher Vibration), but my favorite track from the Chilli's new album had to sneak on 'cos the flea's bass line is just feckin' mint - Tell Me Baby.
14. I've been looking for that for ages. One of my mates was really into them, but has lost his CD. I can't find it anywhere seeing as they've split up. I need to pm you! He says they're class and I want to see if I agree. Are you the same T-Keith from the old toontastic board? If so, how's it going bud! Long time no see
15. Plush - Stone Temple Pilots, soon to be followed by Interstate Love Song
16. Smoke on the Water was Deep Purple man!
17. Just listening to The Black Crowes - Shake Your Money Maker. Not listened to it for a while... I guess tonight must be the night for dusting stuff off.....
18. Class track. I may just have to put 'Wind Cries Mary' on now.
19. Not my usual, but for some reason I find myself sitting on a Sunday afternoon (there's a song in there somewhere) listening to E.L.O - Out of the Blue - Mr Blue Sky. If anyone remembers my last post, I was asking about the song used in the Ford Focus ad. It's 'Daydream in Blue' by I Monster. The album is 'Neveroddoreven'. I took a chance and bought the whole album on iTunes without listening to it. It's actually a good album. An eclectic mix of styles from the sublime Daydream in Blue to the Glam-rock of Mrs Glamourpuss.
