While I agree there can be no complaints from people who were clamouring for some action from Ashley because they felt Pardew wasn't up to the task (they were well warned about the quality of man we would bring in), I don't think you can go as far as blaming them. There weren't protests or "Pardew Out" songs in the stadium. This is pure Ashley, same as bringing in Dennis Wise. No fans had called for Keegan's head back then. People were happy to go to games when Hall and Shepherd were tens of millions in profit off the back of the club, and debts were run up secured on the loyalty of fans alone. Those same people are refusing to go now and justifying it because the owner is taking the piss so they're not willing to line his pockets...while his personal investment in the club remains at hundreds of millions. The be all and end all is that people go when we do well and stop going when we don't. It's the measure of a fan to be honest about that. I don't think Kinnear has the cheque book now. It's all nonsense. This time last year our transfer policy was supposed to be the envy of the globe. Write ups in the New York Times and that. One bad season later and it's so bad Joe Kinnear is supposed to improve it? Fuck off.
