Remember Sima's famous quote that he was the worst player he'd ever seen? Bawan was the only person who stuck for him that's not even 2 years ago. There was more than that iirc Doesn't make it right though Still think I'm cock-on about Cacapa though I was backing him with stats at the time. He was 6th choice striker with the best goal ratio.... http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?...st&p=603160 Always liked the lad.

Liverpool bid £35 million+ for Carroll

Forgot about this.... -
I cant see it happening, but I can't work out why the club announced we'd had an offer. It makes no sense, unless they wanted to generate more interest. Any player coming in would be a rushed purchase so would also be over priced. Unless we got him from the club he was sold too, or from someone in the buying chain. I'd have thought turning down £30m would dampen speculation as no-one would be daft enough to go higher than that for a lad who hasn't played a competitive international. The world's gone mad though as it only seems to have exacerbated speculation that clubs are lining up to pay even more.
-
If a £25M bid is true, I can't see how we could say no. The cynic in me says we told them to come back later with the offer, lessening the chance for us to re-invest. If he did go, not replacing him is madness. Though, Pardoo does have faith in Best and Shola £30m bid rejected according to the Press Association. Whether that's just holding out for more or a real statement of intent remains to be seen. Sorry guys 35m for carroll is a good deal, I know I'm going to get shot down in flames here but there you go Good deal? I'd bite their hands off if I thought we would re-invest well. It'll cover the overdraft.

This is exactly the kind of deal that has got Spurs where they are tbh. The daft money they've got for Berba, Keane and that has funded the squad they have. It always comes back to whether it's reinvested. -
So if he stays thats just further evidence of the lack of ambition? Not at all. I said earlier how much credit I'd give the owner if we don't sell in this window. Even if it is just delaying it until the summer.
-
I'm remarkably confident he'll be staying for now. My spidey sense says the clubs have agreed a deal for the summer....and to publicise a rejected offer for now to give kudos to the owner. But I'm a cynic.

I don't want us to, I just think 35m+ is a lot to turn down, IF he uses a large portion to buy a replacement. More than Barca paid for David Villa. A British transfer record for a lad who's only got half a season under his belt as a first choice striker in the top flight and one international friendly cap. It's an unbelievable offer to turn down and will go some way to convincing me of Ashley's intent if rejected. Must be seriously tempting. If it exists

Dekka and Fat Boy wont see it like that though. They'll just see £30m pure profit. Exactly. They'd be less likely to sell in a Bent type position where the profit was only a couple of million despite the massive fee. When it's £30m back from no outlay at all, it only makes it more appealing. At these kind of prices, whether we sell him or keep him.... Could have been worse.... -
I know the source is a crock.... Tottenham include Pavlyuchenko in final bid for Newcastle striker Carroll
-
Ireland unveiled. Also suggests no-one will be sold by then because I don't think they'd put anyone in the firing line.

Squeeky bum time. If we get 35s, I'd probably take it, as long as we sign someone adequate today. Remember 6 months ago when we were screaming for another striker because Carroll wouldn't be able to cut it. £35m would be a ridiculous amount to turn down like. True test of Ashley's position. Surely we are not heading to a position of people slagging the board for NOT selling him..... Not at all. He has to keep him because I don't think there's any chance of him spending that £30 - £35m if we get it.

Are you questioning David Craig's integrity? -
Not been reading the thread as i can't be arsed with speculation....but isn't he injured? Physioroom says his knee is fucked and he has no return date. And why's it a loan deal? I thought Villa said he was free to leave them. Not willing o take a pay cut. Mercenary twat.

I know about his dead living grannies, but the wiki account of the story is marvellous....
