We're not championing Ryan Taylor so much as we are instead pointing out how ridiculous it is to drop him after making 2 mistakes in favour of giving a player with pretty muh no PL experience a start against the champions. A player with a lot to prove, a player of clearly seriously strong potential, but also a player nowhere near the finished product who has stagnated significantly since the glory days of that Man Utd game and being called up by Italy. If he hadn't have made those mistakes, this thread wouldn't exist. Your man Santon might have made those mistakes and people would instead have been complaining about him being thrown in against the league leaders. Why does this bother you so much Ant? Can't you see where we're coming from?

I would, actually. I'm not a hypocrite. Stick around though, always good to have fans of other clubs on here.

The only comment I dislike is "I know people will go 'it's their first test'; it isn't their first test, because Newcastle - no disrespect - are not a great team so every game they play is a test, in my opinion." Although with that said, we're not a great team yet but we're a good one and I find his "every game they play is a test" line a bit patronising.

Give her a good seeing to. See if that improves her performance. Maybe she just needs a confidence boost. -
Do you understand how press interviews work? Someone asks Pardew a question about Tiote. Pardew answers this question about Tiote. Pardew is not randomly making a statement that Tiote is for sale. In a way I prefer him being honest and saying that every player has his price as opposed to his previous "100%" assurances over the likes of Carroll.
-
He's obviously not that good tbh.
-
I hope Luiz plays against us.
-
How has it cost us points? In fact, if you're going to be like that - Ryan Taylor has won us points.
-
Need the score to stay the same.

Martinez on *that* Blackburn 'corner': Can't exactly disagree with him there.
-
That game against Man Utd was 2-3 years ago. Since then his value has plummeted and he had a mediocre spell on loan with Cesena. He's 20 years old. He's a player with potential, nothing more. I think some people expect him to start games and suddenly be this international class defender.
-
Yeah let's keep a crap makeshift left back in the side while Santon finishes his memories of playiing for Newcastle (one page). Santon's 20 year old ffs. Tell you what, we'll throw him in against Nani and Valencia for his first PL game in English football and see how he copes aye? As mental as calling for Ben Arfa to start as soon as his bones were mended. Exactly. I can't believe people are seriously suggesting we play Santon against Man Utd.
-
I asked because I couldn't remember too much about his performance against them (his - not the whole defence).
-
I don't think Pardew is stupid. He knows Santon is a natural RB but at the time we needed a replacement for Enrique. I imagine the plan was to see how he got on over the season, and then get a proper LB in if it makes sense to.
-
Did it happen against Spurs?
-
Or he was brought in as an LB in the knowledge that he can play either position, but Pardew reckons that Taylor has done so well that he's made the LB spot his own and it's now Simpson that has to start worrying. Especially given the focus of that article is Pardew getting frustrated with Simpson not signing a new deal.

Llambias - "we will need replacements in the summer"

Pardew told the Sunday Sun that he might sell a player if a club plays way over the odds (as we all know). So the Mail made up a story linking Tiote with a move away because that's very cheap and easy journalism. Seriously - why on earth do people pay any attention to these fucking 'Sportsmail Reporter' articles? I don't care if I'm sounding condescending here. They are of absolutely no worth or journalistic integrity whatsoever. They're made-up. Stop reading them. -
OK, so according to the Sunday Sun we are still after Pieters but it's being hampered by a row with an agent (either way this means we're still after an LB). http://www.sundaysun.co.uk/sport/newcastle-united/nufc-news/2011/11/13/erik-pieters-transfer-threatened-by-agent-row-79310-29766256/ And accoridng to Pardew - it's Simpson that Santon is competing with, not Ryan Taylor. http://www.sundaysun.co.uk/sport/newcastle-united/nufc-news/2011/11/20/danny-simpson-urged-to-sign-new-contract-79310-29806162/
