  1. I'm pretty sure, at least, that Ashley won't be amused by our current plight. It's potentially going to cost him a lot of money.

Also, I reckon Ashley, in his own mind, believes he's trying to make us a success. The thing is, he's an incredibly poor judge of character/ability. I mean, a few months ago he handed his dipshit son in law/daughter's boyfriend something like £250m to build up a property portfolio; he's had Charnley running the club for ages, and actually thought rehiring Kinnear would be a good idea.

He's one of those people who got to the top, I would argue, almost accidentally. Because it sure as shit can't have been based on good judgement.

  2. You guys aren't considering the actual worst case scenario - lose and he stays anyway. I don't know if I trust Charnley to make an actual decision... therefore at this point, given the uncertainty, I'd say a win is the best outcome.

Sir, My wife and I are affluent Americans with postgraduate degrees. We are socially liberal and fiscally mildly conservative. We are not the sans-culottes you see as the prototypical Trump voter. We are well aware of his vulgarity and nous deficiency yet we contemplate voting for him. Why?

Electing the standard-bearer of the Democratic Party seems purposeless. The neanderthal Republicans barely respected the legitimacy of Bill Clintons or Barack Obamas election, let alone that of Hillary who would arrive tainted with scandal and the email lapses hanging over her head. We would get four years of gridlock and hearings. The Republican tribunes, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, are backward, foolish and inexperienced. John Kasich, a moderate with extensive governmental experience and a willingness to compromise, is an also-ran. That leaves The Donald, really a moderate in wolfs garb, who would owe nothing to either party and might strike deals, for instance on tax reform.

Yes, we could be like the good citizens who voted for a tameable Hitler in 1933 to get things back on track. But the alternatives look worse.

Interesting points I guess. I certainly agree about Hillary being a waste of space, but I don't know if being a waste of space is worse than being Donald Trump...

  4. You say that like it's something we should be pleased about, and I guess it is, but Hillary isn't exactly good news either.

Also, a lot of polls seem to have her losing against Trump...? Unlike Sanders who seems to win out. Not that polls mean much.
