  1. All polling stations should have shut at 10pm on the dot. If people have made it by then - tough shit. They've had 15 hours to vote FFS and the option of postal voting! What if you got there at 9.30 and were stuck in a 35 min queue though? [\Devil's advocate]
  2. Apparently not. 8% swing to the tories. Aye, didn't know quite how big the previous majority was when I posted that. The locals must have found about about her NUFC ST and the fact she doesn't wash her hands.
  3. Well done Bridget, massive win that.
  4. Why the fuck have people left it so late to vote?
  5. It's politics mate. He's offering a deal. Exactly, who cares how we get it as long as we do. Which we won't.
  6. Aye but they were in power though, it could work the same for Labour. The margin of error is two tailed after all. A tiny Conservative majority gives them very little mandate as well. Bad result for everyone this really if the polls are right. Just out of interest Renton, do you consider a Hung Parliament with the Tories as the largest party a worse result for the country than if the Tories gain a small majority? Who knows, majorly disappointed that there looks like there will be no electoral reform though. Bridget will be on soon.

  8. I actually feel nervous! It's been interesting if nothing else.
  9. Fourth one down is my favourite.
  10. Hands up anyone who has been converted by anything on this thread.
  11. Can't remember if it was posted here or not but after the second debate, Sky News showed a bar chart of 'Who'd won'. Cameron's bar was clearly higher than Clegg's, directly contradicting the figures printed just below it. If it's not illegal it should be.
  12. What bitterness? I think its been fairly good natured for a political thread. Edit: I'd add that if you can't get worked about politics, which for some people represents their core values and beliefs, what can you get worked up about? You tory gimp.
  13. I know - I remember Trotter lauding the Siemens plant and you could cynically say that was a genuine reward of government which other places could mirror. Of course no matter where you are there will be enclaves of people who are "natural" Tories and concentrations of them in places like Whitley Bay and Gosforth will affect results but I just think it takes a special kind of selfishness to see the results of their policies around you and still vote for the bastards. Used to have massive fun vandalising his posters. Neville Trotter.
  14. Done by Gemmill but hilarious nontheless.
  15. One of the things I'm proud of about about coming from South Shields is that it's the only UK constituency that has never elected a Tory. Unfortunately my curreny constituency will be a Tory victory barring miracles. That's surprising. Tynemouth is going to be close and I have a horrible feeling the tories will win it. I heard Alan Campbell was sent a 'Happy Retirement' card from the local Conservative party last night - the cunts.
  16. Yup. nothing would please me more Prepare not to be pleased then. Do you seriously think the euro would die in the core nations? Up until recently its been a comparative success hasn't it? There's far too much invested in it now in any case, both economically and politically, it won't be allowed to fail. The whole of Wall Street smell blood and will continue going after the Euro and ramping rates up against Soverign debt against Euro countries in trouble. There is no way we/Portugal/Spain/Greece can keep borrowing to fill said black hole. Euro is fucked. As I predicted. It's either the dollar or Euro people normally hedge against and it looks like the way the U.S. just magic up money, the Euro is looking the easier target to the hedge funds and intra-bank/ govt bond markets. Welcome to Capitalism. We'll see Parky, I've just noticed you've retracted your predicition for the General Election, so let's come back to this in 2 years. It should be nothing for the euroskeptics to get all Scadenfreude over anyway, as what's bad for Europe (which this would be) is bad for us.

  18. Not on BBC yet. I feel a bit ashamed saying this but I can't muster an inch of compassion for this man . Any sympathy vote he gnerates will come from the tories in any case (not that I think it would have any bearing).
  19. Why do you say that? You said a few weeks ago that you'd personally done well over the last decade. Anyway, regardless of who wins, the good times are over for the moment for virtually everyone. I've voted. It's raining - not good for Labour turnout. Oh aye, that Sun headline and graphic is cringeworthy. Comparing Cameron and OBama ffs, especially after the former called the latter a 'lightweight'.
  20. A bit too soon to write the obituary on the euro just yet, I'd be willing to bet it will survive this (possibly without Greece) and the UK will ultimately join at some stage. We would have been shagged had we been members during this particular recession like, but then we never made Labours own entry criteria in any case. The projects just been delayed by a couple of decades, that's all.
  21. Sounds like NJS could have penned that, not vitriolic enough maybe.
  22. Well I find that a bit hard to believe. Why? I work with numbers all the time. Aye, and we all know what happened about two years ago, you practically destroyed the global economy.
