The way some of the left of the party are behaving currently is ridiculous. Starmer is a PM in waiting, there is literally nothing he can do to change the situation in Gaza right now but what he doesn't want to do is poison the well with relations Israel even before he is in office. All anyone outside Israel can do - including Biden - in this time of anger is to nudge them in the right direction, which is what he is doing. People need to get a grip and grow up and understand the realpolitik and stop seemingly wanting to be a perpetual party of protest over one that can actually change things for the better.

Out of interest, do you think the marches should be allowed to go ahead? I'll be honest, I don't like the images and videos in that thread but there were between 300,000 (minimum) and 800,000 prtoestors on the march on Saturday weren't there? So it's really hard to gauge the level of law breaking but it doesn't seem anywhere near as bad as Tommy Robinson's lot which was from a much smaller base? I'd personally hope people who behave violently or chant anti-semitic chants, carry anti-semtic placards are identified and where possible arrested post-march.

This makes me fucking livid. My sister, who had severe mental illness that made it obvious she didn't have the capacity for paid work, was rejected from PIP causing her even more anxiety, just before covid. I was busy helping her appeal when she was diagnosed with terminal cancer, they very generously paid her it, after telling her she had less than 6 expected months of life left (the first she knew about this prognosis). Pure callousness and doesn't even make sense. There are thousands who can't work because they can't get the treatment they need in a timely manner from the NHS. Fix the NHS, and I guarantee you would save more money than driving people to suicide over PIP. Well, maybe not on seconds thoughts, maybe that's the plan.
