In the 80s the best pint in town for me was served at The Haymarket the beer was always spot on. The worst for me was The Red House at the Quayside they served "real ale" for weeks my mates tried to convince me it was great. It was disgusting and flat as a witches tits horrible stuff.

I was just turned 17 working in a food warehouse in Felling earning £15 a week after about the 3rd week of working there we decided we'd go out for our dinner that was me and my mate John Anderson (not that one). We were working now & most of the lads went for a pie & pint on Friday (pay day) so we thought we'd try our luck. We tried The Beeswing first only to get laughed at and chased out the pub the landlord was an ex copper. So we tried across the road at The Plough the place was empty. We set the balls up on the pool table & we were both amazed as the guy behind the bar said "what are you having lads" I replied "erm 2 pints of erm lager & 2 pies" we'd cracked it we went back that night and ended up going 2 or 3 times a week until I was 18 and got my club cards for Felling Social Club.

Just as an aside I remember being at a home game in either 75 or 76 I think it was against Ipswich (cup game) anyway the ground was packed solid we couldn't get in the Leazes so ended up in the Gallowgate it was a bitterly cold day there was thick frost on the pitch after inspections it was deemed playable (it should never have started) we scored a first half goal the & at half time it came over the tannoy the match had been abandoned there was hell on as you'd imagine. We were walking down Westgate Rd and car doors were getting booted in the new Eldon Square locked shoppers in. We got to Central station only to be turned away by the police tried to get the bus back to Felling but they were all full so ended up walking home only to getting a bollicking of me dad for being home so late.

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=82LvILYcooM Here it is I just moved up to the North East (Felling) in September my new school mates asked if I fancied going to the match I was 16 at the time ended up going to all the home games for about the next 2 years until I discovered the city hall & used to spend all my money on concert tickets. I remember the first time seeing SJP and thinking it looked like a big grey shed but once you got inside it was the best shed in the world I'd been taken to Goodison Park by my dad & uncle to watch Everton it would have been about 1969/70 i know I was there when they won the 1st division they had Gordon West, Colin Harvey, Alan Ball, & Joe Royle playing for them but there was no atmosphere like SJP I know it's a cliché but there really is nowhere like SJP.

Nice one Stevie and good on you for having such a positive attitude
-
It's been drilled in to him

Pleased with our attacking play as expected the defence needs reinforcing hopefully this will be addressed before the window closes. If we'd been a bit tighter at the back we would have had all 3 points
-
Nice chest in ha ha
-
Our defence is awful
-
We must attack from the start if we sit back and let Southampton come to us we'll be in trouble it's essential we get something from these 4 opening games

Leicester beat the Scum 4-2

Well here we are on the eve of a new season what are you hoping to see. Myself I hoping we play attacking football due to our weakness at the back. Also I'm hoping we can have a good run in both FA & League cups (even try & win one) But most of all I hope we at least turn up and give a good account of ourselves something that's been lacking the last couple of seasons. We won't be expected to win every game but at least give it a go . Howay the Lads give us something to shout about for all the right reasons

"Walls have ears" they also have sausages & ice cream
-
XP was spot on unfortunately it's not supported anymore
-
3-2-5 formation = attacking football that's what I'm hoping for.

From today's press conference... "I've still got decisions to make regarding the fitness of Mitrovic & Mbemba" Nailed on to start on Sunday with Williamson Colo & Taylor
-
Probably leave Mbemba on the bench and start with the dynamic trio of Colo, Williamson & Taylor now

http://mobile.nufc.co.uk/default.aspx?s=news-display&aid=4914224 New contract and retains the captaincy no chance of a new CB now.
-
If they're fit they should start it's imperative we get points on board from the off our opening 4 games are Southampton Swansea Man Utd Arsenal If we start without the new guys we're effectively using the team that almost got relegated last season and I honestly can't see us picking up many points. We can't afford to ease them in gently get them on get them playing.

Steve McClaren sacked as Newcastle United 'Head Coach' (Manager)
trooper replied to Tooj's topic in Newcastle Forum
If he knows the defence is shit why wasn't that a priority instead of messing about wondering whether to think about putting a bid in for Charlie fucking Austin. -
I don't think Colo, Tiote or Cabella have played any pre season games I don't expect any of them to be ready for Sunday. Today's run out has probably just been for the fans that turned up, those tickets won't sell themselves you know.
