To be fair, if a stranger asked me a question I'd answered three or for times, especially on a night out, they'd end up in A & E. I think the video is a bit misleading, it appears MA is being asked if any of the clubs' money is going to be spent, but from MA's point of view, he's being asked if his own personal money. Also after spending £73 million net in the season we ended up relegated (a club record transfer window spend and more than double than that of the last record window spend), would you blame him for not wanting to put any more money in personally? People who critisise Ashley for not investing, appear to forget this spend. I also have a few issues with the Rafa interview as I don't think it's balanced. Keeping Lascelles (touch wood) and gaining Dubravka, kenedy, Ki, Schar, Muto and Rondon for next season is a step forward for me, taking everything into account in the last few years (MA's cock ups, dodgy managers, Mitrovic's disciplinary and performance costs). Any more, as per rumours, would be an added bonus. Not thrilled about it all, but not protest worthy for me.

I've never resorted to the level of immature personal insults, for which you have resorted to on many occasions. Ashley needs to sell in the sense that he's wanting the business to be self sustaining and to keep the squad numbers to a certain amount. If players are bought and he can't get rid of any, then this wouldn't be financially viable. The fact that he takes a large chunk of responsibility for that isn't disputed by myself and I agree he has the finances to fund a decent summer budget out of his own pocket, but it's gambling either way as money could be pissed away and the club would be in a bigger mess with him further out of pocket. Although I would be in favour of this gamble and hold my hands up if it does go tits up.

Surprise surprise resorting to pathetic childish comments. So how much was made in the Championship? and compared to Premier League teams? When the club loses money it loses it big time, when it makes a profit, it's not that much. Fred Shepherd spunked a lot away and Ashley has been just as bad.

It's not as simple as that though. Last summer there wasn't the Premiership TV money, player's bonuses and Benitez's wage to pay, so still a tight budget. If the club had £100mil in the bank then maybe a different story. Hopefully Mitrovic has a good world cup and generates a lot of money for a new striker (or keep him if Benitez has a change of mind and the player can learn discipline).

As in that's the way Ashley works. Hopefully just the fringe / less quality players (or players Benitez doesn't like/play) who are on high wages.

The squad will need to be reduced before any incoming players arrive (as what happened with the keeper situation).
