I think Howe would be a brilliant England manager if he decided to take it btw. He'd bring the nice guy Eddie thing, so it would be continuation Southgate from that pov, but with tactical and coaching nous that Southgate could only dream of.

The idea of Eales wanting his own man... He'd be crazy to sack Howe and would be taking a massive unnecessary risk on his own reputation. I don't think the idea of us replacing Howe is remotely on the agenda, whether the FA comes knocking or not.

They'll not just give the new bloke the next WC and bin them if they don't win it. Not when Southgate has just had 8 years. The question for Howe will be does he think it comes around again if he knocks it back now. And if it did come around again, would he have the same quality of players to work with. I think he'll probably end up knocking it back cos he doesn't see himself as an international manager yet (too much downtime). Alternatively, his kids are young, maybe downtime would be good to spend more time with them. I think it'll be a really hard decision if they do approach him. I would assume he'll be well clear at the top of their list though.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and suggest that Tindle's ex-cleaner might not be that clued in on current goings-on in Eddie Howe's life.

I'd be amazed if Howe isn't top of their list. Howe constantly talks about how everything for him is about working with players every day and seeing where he can make improvements to their game. Which is absolutely not what the England job would offer him. However, the England job would offer him a crack at the World Cup in two years with a brilliant squad of players, so there are other temptations. There's also the complete unknown of whether the offer will ever come your way again if you knock it back once. I'm talking myself into believing he might take it if it's offered.

Good for him and good for the team, I reckon. He hands the whole thing over in so much of a better state than he inherited it. Am I right in recalling that he was appointed at the end of a long search in which the FA just kept getting knockbacks, and Southgate was seen as an interim?

Maid on Netflix is really good. About a lass who grabs her kid and runs away from her abusive fella in the middle of the night, and the nightmare of homelessness/navigating the US benefit/social housing/legal system that follows. It sounds really depressing and at times it really is, but well worth a watch. Based on a book by the lass who it all actually happened to. The main lass in it (who is brilliant) is 90s smokeshow Andie McDowell's daughter, and McDowell plays her mam in it. She's one of the few that hasn't pumped her face full of filler and botox as she's aged, and she looks all the better for it.

The fucking idiots like Big Lugs Marco Rubio (seriously check the size of that cunt's ears he's like Dumbo) claiming God stepped in to save Trump. Would God not have just fixed it so the engine didn't start on the kid's car? Or that he fell trying to climb on the roof and sprained his ankle. I'd be a bit worried that he's one of those that played his best football as a youngster. But I'm sure we'll do our homework. I see Madueke and Bowen are being looked at apparently.
