It was thought that The Magpies had given up on the Spain international having declared that Depor had rejected their 'final and best' offer. It was then revealed they had agreed a fee of over £15 million with Real Madrid for Owen and it seemed Luque had been put on the back-burner. However, with Owen dragging his heels over the prospect of a permanent move to St James' Park, Graeme Souness is now back in for the Spaniard.
