  1. I think you need to go lay down in a darkend room. Yes sir, with a few of Ariano's more attractive looking fans please
  2. Adriano - 20m, Manuel Fernandes 12m, Quaresma 10-15m, Diarra 5.5m, Baines 5m, Beye 2m, and a few token squad playing Allardyce cheapies .......................Given Beye.......Taylor..........Roz........Baines .......................Diarra .............Barton..........Fernandes .. Quaresma.......................Martins ......................Adriano This team although something of a fantasy isn't all that unrealistic to me and would be a top 4 side if they are grafted into a cohesive unit and all doing their jobs. There would be a flair of Quaresma, Fernandes, Martins and Adriano, frightening amounts of strength and pace in these four young players. Another thing to note is that all four have a frightening long shot! There will be height down the spine of the team with Adriano 6'2, Diarra 6'3, Taylor 6'2, Roz 6'3. Pace at the back with Taylor and Roz, a calm head in Roz (we hope) and a gladiator spirit with Taylor. Industry and spirit with Beye and Baines down the full backs. Determination and bite in the middle of the park with Barton and Fernandes and the immense tower that is Diarra mopping things up behind them. Martins although many will say is a striker is still young and if he is selfless enough and trusts Big Sam and his men, he could become an outstanding wide forward as he is strong, quick, and hard working. He even has a creative pass in him and if he can wrap his foot round a cross like he can with a shot would be tremendous from this position. Adriano is a world beater who has lost his way (we all know how Big Sam likes these types) and has all the attributes to be more immense than Drogba has been in this division. He could well be on his way this summer with all the forwards Inter already have and his links with Emre and Martins may persuade him to come somewhere where he would be adored by 52k passionate fans every other week. This is all fantasy so before anyone bashes me I want to just make this clear. I just hope that Sam and the new men in charge spend wisely and am looking forward to see what happens. I wouldn't be all that surprised if we saved some of the real cash for January and after a good start to the season we may be more likely to tempt some of the better players who catch Sam's eye
  3. Really hope we havent got Milner and Zog in the first team at the start of the season. Looks particularly slow in midfield. Zog will need have got his head right and Milner will have needed some fucker elses legs. If we can get a top quality, pacy right back then I would be happier with Solano on the right. Dyer would be useful too given the fact that we have zero movement anywhere in that side. Zog can provide it if he isnt in the huff. its as realistic as i can get. solano's days at RW are numbered, and he's never really had pace.... mind you milners not even as quick as him!!! barton has loads of energy and butt just plays it simple ( though again he's getting on a bit!)... zog is pretty quick... You think realistically big Sam will want to go to his old Bolton side with a midfield with an average height of less than 5'9? We all know how much he get's into his stats also...
  4. maybe the thread title should be team for the season, because people keep mentioning Viduka even though he will be coming back from the Asia cup won't he? he's no spring chicken and could take a little while to recover from that if Aus get far which they probably will. Maybe I've got the dates all wrong though so who knows =)
  5. haha, we'll see =) ts after the mid twenties that forwards come in to there own as Drogba has shown being a late bloomer himself. I'm looking forward to seeing whether he can do it given Viduka's absence at the start of season. That's unless Big Sam finds out after a couple weeks of pre-season that there really is no hope for Shola at all. We all know that already remind me of his goals per game ratio with a dodgy hip under Roeder then tell me there is no hope...
  6. Your blind faith in Ameobi is starting to worry me haha, we'll see =) ts after the mid twenties that forwards come in to there own as Drogba has shown being a late bloomer himself. I'm looking forward to seeing whether he can do it given Viduka's absence at the start of season. That's unless Big Sam finds out after a couple weeks of pre-season that there really is no hope for Shola at all.
  7. ..........................Given Beye.......Taylor ©....... Roz.......Baines ......................Diarra/Butt ...........Barton/Dyer...........Emre/N'Zogbia Dyer/Milner....................Martins/Luque .......................Ameobi This is if we sell Owen, bring in A Diarra to add height and steel to the middle of the park, bring in 2 new full backs, and get Ameobi strong and sharp in pre-season with Sam's magic coaches. Also Taylor as captain I think we would be a good move, I reckon he is the sort of player that will improve after receiving the captaincy (like Terry taking over from Desailly) and he already looks like a leader at the back for the U21 England team. Reo-Coker captained West Ham to an FA Cup final and a european spot in the league at Taylors age, look at Fernando Torres also, captaining Atletico Madrid at 19?
  8. You're taking the piss, aren't you? Sadly not haha, I used to be strongly Anti-Ameobi until he started scoring when Big Al was injured at the end of 05/06. It's unfortunate for him that he couldn't carry that form into a pre-season and then the start of 06/07 without that niggling hip injury which by the sounds of it was a fairly heinous ordeal. Now that he has bulked up a bit, fit again, and in the hands of Big Sam's men I seriously reckon something could be made of him, without having to spend 6 mill on Alan Smith or whatever the smoggies are apparently offering....
  9. you must have dodgy eyes even when he is fit ameobi is shite for someone who is over six feet he cant jump ( how many goals has he ever scored with his head ) come to think of it how many goals has he scored he has been getting money for nothing for the last three or four years...........get rid of him give the mackems a million quid to take him off of us.that shows you how bad the toon were last year when everybody was talking of ameobi being our saviour.... the mans a plank big time charlie that doesnt deliver wot must shearer be thinking talking of confidence he.s never had any,, he is the same every week 100% shite If it wasn't for his almost 1:2 goal ratio in the past few months of 05/06 we wouldn't have made Europe (we also wouldn't have had Roeder as the next manager but that's another story!). When he is in the mood and fit he is a terrific player, (Barcelona game anyone?). Remember he was injured for almost 2 years with that hip problem, try jumping with prem defenders with a dodgy hip . Also, look who we've got in charge now, Big Sam. He turned Kevin bleeding Davies into a threatening front man, imagine what he could do with Shola. I have a feeling he is gonna surprise a few of you this season and if he stays fit Viduka is not a definite starter. Remember Didier Drogba was far from a prolific goalscorer until he was 26+, look at his record before this....
  10. Please please, no no..... I'd rather have a fit and confident Shola in the side than Alan Smith. Clearly past his best, and he was never ever profilic for Leeds anyhow. He isn't the past passer of the ball either nor is he the strongest, quickest, or best in the air....gives away many fouls also...
  11. Benfica have put him up for sale and if Everton are in for him then we should be able to get him. This is the kind of player that coupled with Barton in the middle of the park would be absolutely dynamite (in a good way!). He has strength, real pace in his passing, get's stuck in, and has a great long shot on him. Anyone who saw his performances against Man Utd and Arsenal last season should realise what talent and character this young lad has at just 21. This is the kind of player we need to be getting if we want that push for the top 4. With Ashley's millions he would be a very good investment at 12 mill given he has already got almost a year's worth of Premiership experience in him already...
  12. Isn't Bent the better goalscorer? Isn't Defoe a little too smiliar to Owen and Martins? I don't believe this story for one second. It is probably nothing more than clever journalism to try and 'encourage' Spurs to come up with the cash to sign Bent. Regarding Defoe, I thought he was a canny player until I saw Lineker and Shearer on MOTD demonstrating his flaws as a striker - stay clear imo. Robbie Keane must be available if Spurs get another striker as he wont want to be pushed down the pecking order? Keane is their first choice striker these days. ...after Berbatov.. .....and Bent - which was the point I was making. Berbetov and Bent would be too similar. It'll be one of those to play alongside Keane. Berbatov and Bent are very different players. I hope we don't go for Bent. If he is worth 17 mill, Martins is worth 25 mill....
  13. Remember, the transfer window will still be open, and it's just the first game we are talking about, Viduka is at Asia Cup also, and hopefully Owen will have moved on by then with maybe Dyer, and Luque in contention after a confident bit of pre-season with Big Sam...
  14. Given Solano Taylor Rozenhal Baines Diarra Barton Emre Milner Martins Ameobi Height down the Core of the side, Taylz 6'2, Roz 6'3, Diarra 6'3, Ameobi 6'2, and Pace and invention with Martins, Milner, Baines, Solano, Emre, Barton
