By your logic Hitler did a cracking job for Germany. i'm not talking about Hitler. You missed out the rest of the post again. You know, the factual bits that don't suit your "opinion" Pot calling kettle black eh?

Reo-coker and Shane Long? Fuck off! How can you say that thats what we go for under this regime? Yes we have brought in Perch and Best (The latter has 6 goals this season and looks alright) but we have also brought in Tiote and Ben Arfa. I think what we will get is a bit of both...a couple of lower league players and a couple of young european lads.

They achieved 9.4th post Keegan (7.642857th inclusive of KK) They were for a time, then the world changed and they didn't/couldn't or maybe didn't want to because the gravy train kept a rollin. You post selected outdated "facts" of no relevance to the period in question. If you want to play that game the best regime we ever had was in the 50's FACT. They weren't. You spout this same bollocks all the time, 23 years ago this past Wednesday 7,000 turned up to support the team against Wrexham, it was abondoned at half time, without me it'd have been 6,999. What you think of me is irrelevant to me, you are deluded beyond all comprehension. I don't despise them, I realised in the cold light of day that after they drove KK off and the brief hiatus under SBR that they were utterly clueless. I don't get all emotional about stuff, never have, just like to be realistic. Now fuck off to your Mohammed shed and wave bacon at the neighbours. Golden

See...this is my point about you man. Dreading it. If every fan was of the same ilk as you the ground would be fuckin awful on a match day. Actually its gettin that way anyway. If the players went out with your mindset then we'd lose every week. This is a challenge, one which the players will stand up to the same way we did against west ham and birmingham away. They will fight and we will win. Be fuckin positive you drab excuse of a toon fan. -
Broken fuckin record.

He didn’t pay off the debt. He just changed who it was owed to. The club owes more money now than it has at any time in its history. How much do you think a debt free NUFC firmly established in the PL is worth? 100mil
-
I think some people are forgetting that he came in and paid over 100mil of debt off? That debt was being called in and the club would of went tits up. Who ran that debt up and put us in that situation? If the club had been ran better under FFS and SJR there would not of been that debt to clear nor a real reason to sell the club. Yes he was naive and stupid not doing due diligence but he has done whats needed doing to stabilise us again financially. I cant see how thats a bad thing at all. He now just needs to invest sensibly and we can progress on the pitch too.

Please not another Forest right-back ..... Haha Gunter actually does look decent though.

Yeah i read that too...think i mite of been on icnewcastle. Would be good.

That's the crux that Leazes just won't acknowledge - Shepherd's way of doing things, even if he could pull it off now which is doubtful financially, simply wouldn't work in 2011. Realistically you can have all the ambition in the world but it means nowt now. you won't find a post anywhere by me that says we should be competing with Chelsea and Man City on transfer fees etc. Only skidders and Toonpack makes up that sort of shite. On the contrary, I've made the point a few times, that along with ManU we have to accept they are a special case. Liverpool and Spurs aren't though.....but we have just made Liverpool stronger and us weaker. Great business there from Mike and Dekka. Would you really of turned down 35mil + add ons for a player that cost us nothing? See you ignored my reply before.... oh dear. Plenty of people ignore me, particularly Toonpack and skidders... Anyway, yes I would have told Liverpool to get stuffed, basically, although if you run a club you accept your managers judgement. Keegan has said he would have took it so I would have trusted him and gave him the money as happened when he decided to sell Cole. At this moment in time, setting out ambitions for NUFC is important after the last few years, and basically Mike Ashley has failed the test although those with their eyes open knew he had failed the test ages ago. The fact he cost nothing is irrelevant, totally irrelevant, you are talking "profit", but this is football, selling a player to a club we should aspire to finish above behind the back of your manager and not giving him the whole amount of money, plus to do exactly what he wants to do with it, says everything I'm afraid. This sale has gave a message to everybody in the game that NUFC are a selling club again, and has told the other best players at the club that they are wasting their careers here if they hope to play for a club in europe and aiming to chase the prizes. And you still ignore my point on ashley and the previous regime....
-
But he has only 2 years on his contract and has said himself that if QPR get promoted then he has done his bit. He is ambitious and open to what could happen. The doors open iyam. They couldnt really demand much more than 5 mil for a player signed for 1mil, come out of the CC and only has 2 years left on his contract.

Thats a bit obsessed like. Cringeworthy.

Letting go of whats happened under this regime for a minute, looking at the situation for what it is now, we ARE going in the right direction. Financially and positionally. We are in the PL and with a couple of good results securing our status, and on our way to stabilising our finances too. If we can get 3-5 good signings in with our wage structure who will improve the 1st team and squad then next year we can progress further. Repeated over a couple of seasons and we will be sitting in a pretty sound position. I just dont think its as bad as a lot of people make out. Frustrating aye, but not so bad.
-
Without a doubt. Would be good to see player, staff interviews, reserve games, pre season games and the 'classics' too.
-
You can't say TV money will cover wages because we might get relegated. We're being positioned financially as a club that can handle relegation without a complete overhaul. I dont think we will be relegated, and i think we will be even stronger next year but i see your point. But....could this not also be a sign of ambition? Setting us up like this means we operate at a profit....we stay up year on year, keep collecting TV monies and so on then we CAN afford that sort of lay out in the summer no?

Stevie is one of the posters who actually has an idea what he is talking about I'll give you that, which is why I don't disagree with him so much. But I stick by what I've been saying for almost 4 years now. Mike Ashley will NEVER, EVER match the champions league and european qualifications of his predecessors, he is running the football club like Netto, the limit of his ambition is premiership survival [confirmed yesterday by Llambias for those who incredibly STILL disagree], and he will sell our best players to make up for revenue losses brought about by his own so called "prudency and financial wizardry" and turning this club from a top club into also rans constantly flirting with relegation, while making a couple of million profit if he can which will either not be invested back into the club or disappear down a black hole, not that a few million quid amounts to anything more than peanuts in premiership terms or the stature that a club like NUFC has enjoyed under the previous regime and should always enjoy. People can "disagree" as much as they like, some have been doing it for a long time now, but the longer it goes on, the more the club is sinking and declining. It will NEVER recover to what it was with 3rd rate ambitions like it has now. Personalities have absolutely nothing to do with it, which I pity those who allow their hatred for the ex-owners to come between them and their judgement and the absolute facts of what they achieved. I'll leave this, I really hope someone like Toonpack or skidders doesn't come back and spout more absolute garbage. We can only wait and see if your prophecy comes true. Personally i think FFS and SJH went from doing a great job to royally fucking us up and puttin us in a mahoosive hole in which FMA is trying to dig us out of. That hole WAS made deeper by FMA, but the point is we already were left in deep shit by the previous regime. Yes we had some great years under them and yes they showed ambition but the also made monumentfal fuck ups near the end. I understand your opinion that we are not as ambitious now, far from it and we HAVE declined but we are NOT still in decline. We have hit the bottom, the bottom which was a culmination of errors from the past and the current regime, but we are now on the incline, albeit a slow incline. Gradual progression and financial sustainability are the priorities now but the goal is to be financially sound, generating our own income for transfer fees and being back in europe once again. Patience. Im happy to wait and ride this out if it means we will be on a much stronger footing next time we are in europe and challenging.

HappyFace... Do you think we are just gonna bring in one player? If we brought in say... Gunter 3mil + 15k a week 5 year contract = 7mil Taarabt 4mil + 30k a week 5 year contract = 12mil Lens 8mil + 30k a week 5 year contract = 16mil Derdiyok 8mil + 40k a week 5 year contract = 18.5mil Thats a 23mil spend on transfer fee's and then 49.5mil on wages over 5 years. Just doesnt compute. There is no way on this earth that wages will be incorperated into the transfer pot as the wages will go into the running costs which will be covered every year with TV money and sponsorships as well as other incoming monies. Those 4 players would increase the wage bill by 10 mil a year.
-
QPR will be swapping leagues with us in the summer so he's better off staying with them. Ahh fuck off with that shite man.
-
I think Stevie is the only guy on here capable of shooting down LM with some aplumb. The guys knowledge, opinions and love for the club are spot on. I dont doubt LM's love of the club nor his knowledge to some extent but his opinions are sheer shit.

Our TV money in the PL last time was £38m...so we're £17m better off now according to your £55m figure But like I said above, other turnover was £12m down....and I can't see it rising due to PL status so it's only really £5m better off. Last time we were in the PL we turned a loss of £32.5m though. So assuming the same wages...we'd be running a loss of £27m. These accounts say the wages were £47m, down from £71m.... a £24m saving. That leaves us a £3m loss....before you add Ben Arfa and Tiote's wages (assuming they're more than Carroll's) These are all fag packet numbers, but I think the assumption of a hefty profit this time next year is rash. You are missing player sales. Most of the players that have left us will have been on payment plans. As the books are April-to-April, we'll have the second year payments to include. HBA wages will be picked up via the insurance. We weren't including player sales...that was agreed. To tell the truth I hadn't realised that TV money has increased by almost a third for PL clubs this season and it is going to make a hell of a difference. Turnover should exceed £90m like Stevie says, so with a wage bill at around 55% I can't think of any reason we shouldn't have a few million spare to spend on players...or to pay off some of the debt. Still can't see £50m like. Few million spare...not including player sales as well? In that case, do you think, we stay up, we make a profit this season, pay off some of the debt to FMA AND spend between 20-30mil? Looks healthy to me.
-
How much do you think we will spend in the summer then? (On transfer fees) I think about 25 mil.
-
With the club suggesting they are looking at players from lower leagues and across france, germany, holland and alike could we expect a shopping list similar to.... Gunter RB (Forest) 3mil Taarabt ACM (QPR) 5mil Lens RM/LW/ST (PSV) 8mil Derdiyok ST (Leverkusen) 8mil 24mil spend. Could possible reduce the net spend by letting a few go too....Smith 1mil and Routledge 1mil That could happen ya know.
