1. Assume you are talking about Given. Admitedly he has let in a few lately but when he is on top form he`s hard to beat. The Goalkeeper is the last line of defence and he has hardly been helped of late when our defenders with the exception of Taylor have been a shambles. I reckon he is not fully fit after the injury he got at the West Ham away game. The surgeon said it was equivelant to a High speed car crash so was it such an accident? Lets hope for a swift and full recovery. In the meantime i reckon Krul is a better bet and will make a long term replacement when the time comes.
2. So Nexus is to ask the government for 600 Million to upgrade the Metro. Well call me sceptical but i reckon they have got as much chance of getting it as we have of doing the league and cup double. Not only is Newcastle about 250 miles North of Watford where civilisation as far the government is concerned ends they are also pouring every spare penny into the Olympics. Thats when its not neeeded to bomb Iraq or Afghanistan of course. They have pulled the plug on Light rail schemes for Liverpool Leeds and the road rail project for Portsmouth /South coast and the isle of Wight. In Liverpool`s case it was the day they were due to start construction. Mind you the scousers would have ripped it up faster than they could have built it. More significantly they are draining the Midland Metro where i live to the point where it may have to CLOSE after 8 years of operating. So best of luck but dont hold your breath.
3. Glenn Roeder inherited a team in such disaray that a clone of Morrinioh / Wenger and Ferguson couldnt have done any better. He couldnt ditch all of Shiteness`s duff signings in one go also consider our squad isnt getting any younger every so often a team has to rebuild. Roeder is now bringing through players from the acadamy and starting to repair the damage. Give him a couple of transfer windows and see where we are at the end of this year before you write him off. As for O Leary he is probably in a similar position though the squad he inherited was probably better than ours at the time. If he has any regrets he has only himself to blame he had the chance to come to the best club in the land and turned it down.
4. He will sell the best players like he did with us then sell the ground which is in a prime site location. [ Unfortunatly i have to drive past it twice a day} The club will then switch to the training ground at Castlecroft which will be more than adequate as by then they will be in the Vauxhall Conference.
5. Obviously if a genuine football fan came foreward even if like the current bidders they need an atlas to find where Newcastle is then all well and good. In reallity though they are only interested in making a fast buck the winning casino bids will be announced shortly if we dont get one will they still be interested then? Now i am not saying that anyone who invests in a football club is not entitled to a return on thier investment and that includes the current board but multi national owners are not the ideal way foreward.
6. Now it would seem former Harlem Globetrotters owner George Gillet has his eye on us since he is getting pushed out at Liverpool. What are these rich guys doing putting a load of names in a hat and pulling one out and saying ok I`ll buy that one? Now we all want to see our beloved club doing well in the league and winning a trophy or two but at what cost. If we do get taken over then the likely outcome is ticket prices will go through the roof and we will all be reduced to watching the game on Sky. Also remember only ONE team can win the league, only ONE team can win the F.A. cup etc. etc. It seems the premiership is turning into a millionaires playground with them all trying to outbid each other and if as it seems likely most of the teams end up getting owned by this elite band ONE team has still got to finish at the bottom so anybody who thinks that such a takeover will be the path to end of the rainbow may well be mistaken. On the plus side though if we end up with a load of them cheerleader lasses with pom poms it may not be so bad.
7. Untill yesterday i had hope now we have 1 point from 3 easy games where we should have got 9. We are 3 points adrift of the pack allready when we have only won 1 game so far this season. If a miracle happens we can survive but i doubt it. Dont expect us to bounce straight back up if we go down either just look at Leeds. New song for the terraces Show me the way to Southend.
8. As some rightly say we are not going to get a top class player from the likes of Manure or Chelski come here when they could be in the Championship next season. The best we can currently get from them is a reject on his last legs. Likewise we dont want any foriegn players who may or may not be a miracle worker Martins came with so much promise yet we are still waiting he has had long enough to settle in now so if he is as good as they said he was he should now be performing. Where we should be looking is up and coming players from the Championship or even lower leauges who want to progress. Then how about the academy perhaps a Shearer does only come along once in a generation but with all the ammateur clubs in the area surely theres got to be 1 or 2 local lads whos lifetimes ambition is to come out of the tunnel at St James`s Park. We need 100% commitment from our players not a mixed group who are only interested in the size of the pay cheque. To be fair to Roeder he took over a team ripped apart by Shiteness just look at how some of the players he sold are performing at other clubs and of course we lost Shearer and Michael Owen (somehow i doubt we will ever see him in a Newcastle shirt again} and as for Dire we he ever be fit? Whichever way you look at it it aint easy to come up with a solution but there no doubting we need one FAST. At least the performance against Charlton was an improvement its still early days so try not to dispair too much yet.
9. Anybody know WHY they want to buy us?. Yes we`re in a bit of a state at the moment and unless we turn things around PRONTO we`re at risk of going down. Yes our Fred makes some mistakes but do we really want to end up another Manure with owners who are only interested in making a fat buck and hike the ticket price up. HAS IT GOT ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE CASINO BID? Of course we all want to see the good times back but is this the way?
10. Same applies to Boumsong being sold as a defender. Well he screwed us so lets hope the same happens to him 10 TIMES OVER. I t still affects my blood pressure everytime i hear the useless twats name.
11. A bit better but have to agree not the pace we were led to believe as yet. Still perhaps he has to warm up. Its certainly better than the rigger mortis he was sufferinhg from against Villa and Fulham.
12. Agreed. It is early days, but there are serious causes for concern. Plus the transfer windows shut, so there is little we can do to strengthen the team until the new year. I reckon we are seriously going to regret not getting a proven manager in. I know I sound like a stuck record, and again it is early days, but look how Villa have improved with largely the same players. Yes still early days but Martins was abysmal just standing there waiting for the ball, when he did get it he just passed it on i only saw him do 1 run even allowing for settling in you have to wonder. Lets hope Dyer comes back and manages to play more than a couple of games before going off injured again. Two games we should have won easy have been thrown away we need to improve big time over the next few weeks or we will be in BIG trouble by Christmas. Have to agree some of our transfer window signings havent set the world allight we must improve or come the next one nobody will want to come. As for Roeder at least he seems to know what he`s doing just not getting the results at the moment. Forget Villa they are on a lucky streak one day it will come our way lets just hope its sooner rather than later.
13. Seems everyone we go for is snatched by other clubs before we finalise the deal. Or it could just possibly be that none of them want to come to SJP makes you wonder doesnt it? Why though when this goes on dont we keep quiet about signing a player untill the inks dry on the contract then we just might be able to sign somebody.
14. This has got to go down as one of our worst performances. We never looked like scoring. Babarayo and Luque should be shown the door. Martins has to settle in he probably hasnt had time to meet the team yet but todays perfomance what was he doing just lumbering around the pitch. Come on lads we can do better WE MUST DO BETTER else on todays performance well be playing the Mackems nest season thats assuming they dont go down again of course.
15. Early days he`s got to settle in but unimpressed so far. Lets hope it is just a dead leg because on today`s performance we need a miracle.
16. I see that we have yet another fixture switch with the Villa game being switched to the Sunday. Dont the powers that be realise that if travelling by train tickets have to be purchased 3- 4 weeks in advance if you are to avoid having to take out a second mortgage to obtain one. Doesnt affect me this time as Villa is my nearest premiership ground having said that Sunday travel is harder wherever youre going. There is no service on the local line that day so anybody travelling from the North East is going to have to get a bus from New Street. Also there have been many changes this season for Sky games whioch makes it difficult or sometimes imposssible for those travelling any sort of distance be they home or away fans to get to those games as they either cannot get home or if they can its around midnight. I know they call it Sky sports live but where is the harm in recording a game and showing it a couple of hours later. Yes not the same i know and there is the possibillity you might hear the result but its about time something was done about theese fixture changes and that consideration be given to those who want to actually get to a game rather than watch it on the box.
17. Somehow i cant see Lady Victoria swopping Seville for South Sheilds.
18. Glad to hear it and good to see our Chairman has got his head screwed on.
19. Dont know how many others felt this way but after all those months of waiting for Owen to return to fitness there was something of the inevitable he would pick up some kind of injury in Germany. Also i noticed that in an interview before the start of the competition he said he had been feeling fine for some time, not what we were told was it? Now while not being unsympathetic to Owens plight the favct remains we have been paying him 5 TIMES MOST OF OUR ANNUAL SALARIES EVERY WEEK while his foot mended now it looks like we have got to do the same untill Christmas at least that means he will have played for us for just 20 minutes THIS YEAR. THAT WORKS OUT TO AROUND 4333 POUNDS A SECOND Unbelievable isnt it. Surely something needs to be done to ease the burden on a club when a player is off long term injured like this. Some kind of insurance scheme perhaps?
20. I'm one of those who firmly beleive that there are ups and downs to our current administrators but rest assured they are infinately preferable to some US hedge fund. They are agressive and will seek almost instant returns (ie ticket price hikes). Doug and Fred may be in this to make cash, but it's in the form of a long-term family interest. A hudge fund would want high returns and a sale somewhere down the road. Our long-term interests would not be a consideration. 150252 That is exactly what I think too 150254 And me. I suppose we are dreaming to think that the club could be taken over by a lifetime dedicated fan who wants Chelski style success and gives us value for money at the same time. Remember though whoever owns the club and that includes the present set up if they invest huge wads of money they are entitled to something back. Our Fred comes in for a lot of stick i know but at least he cares for the club more than some anonymous group of Yanks who are only interested in making a fast buck. Above all else the club should stay in British hands.
21. Any decent humanitarian wouldnrt even wish him on the Mackems or the Smoggies. Perhaps we should feel sorry for Simon Jordan who is clearly in need of urgent psychiatric help.
22. After the absolute shambles, staring relegation in the face mess a certain nameless native of Jockland left us in well done Glenn and Alan. Not only are we back where we belong - just, but it has to be said its a fantastic achievement when some of our so called best players have been out for the best part of the season. I seem to recall somebody saying this was the reason for our previous poor performance. Surely now Roeder has earned the chance of a permanant run as Manager. Not only has he turned things around but he seems to have the right attitude both to the players and us. So come on lets see what next season can bring. P.S. Is it me or is anyone else pissed off with Michael Owen being referred to as England and Newcastle COME ON ITS NEWCASTLE AND ENGLAND. Might be an idea if someone took him to one side and told HIMSELF that as well.
23. Man u result expected, Liverpool at home, Charlton away should have done better. But hang on Roeder took on a team decimated by Souness remember he sold some of our best players and replaced them with a load of shite Scott Parker and Michael Owen excepted. Owen and Taylor still injured Dyer, Nzogiba, Carr not 100% fit. So he may not be the man for the job permanantly but give him a break we were heading for relegation under Souness, this season isnt going to be anything to write home about but we have pulled back a little, disapointing last few games i know but lets see where we go from here.
24. So positive thinking doesnt allways work. Against a side of overpaid egotistical wankers we put in a good performance. True we didnt get or create many chances for ourselves but we defended well and stopped them running away with the game, thier goal was lucky. Man of the match has to be Dyer played his socks off if only we had had Bellamy or Owen also missing Stephen Taylor. You have to feel sorry for Shearer who looked totally gutted at the end of the game. Our supporters were brilliant as allways. Total disgrace of the match apart from the clown impressions from most of the Chelski team has got to be the BBC commentry team i have never heard such a load of biased shite in my life writing us off before a ball had been kicked yet again. Creaming thier pants over Chelski even commenting on how good the pitch looked. LINEKAR MOTSON LAWRENSON YOURE ALL TOTAL PRICKS
