  1. Good win, real shame that Murphy clearly rushed back and has made his shoulder worse.

Really think we have Arsenals number nowadays, their players can’t get their heads in the game against us. Can’t be arsed hearing the whinging about Bruno from the press, Havertz should have walked - if not for the attack on Longstaff then the late tackle second half among others. VAR couldn’t have tried much harder to not allow that goal mind

Lascelles brilliant, Tino and Trippier both put in good performances as well.

  2. You lot have a question, the knight Ryder goes and gets the answers

If you can’t be arsed with the Chronicles almost impossible to read website, Howe basically says he wants to give him time to settle in he did a nice job against Man City when given the chance and can cover a lot of positions.

If we can, we really sould be looking to recall Minteh, lad looks a fucking prospect, he's only 19 so not an issue with not being registered for the squad for domestic games.

Problem is, we call him back and wor Eddie doesn't use him and we disrupt the cracking, confidence building season he's having at Feyenoord.

Do you mean the 19 year old, Oirish lad who is a defender?

Not sure he's going to get a run if Hall and Tino can't.

What was the news regarding Jacob Murphy's injury? Not seen updates.

Dislocated shoulder, so he will be out a while.

TBF they were all poor, to degrees, with the exception of Schar, should have scored with that header as it would have topped off a brilliant performance from him.

You can see why Rafa wanted him. Fuck knows what was going through Cabbage's head?

Agree Schar was excellent. It’s interesting that he’s stopped his mad runs now Botman as out as he clearly knows we can’t afford it, been really impressed by him.

  5. I’m sorry like but this constant “we can’t criticize Almiron” stance is wearing thin. The bloke plays bad most weeks but he’s not able to be criticized because Trippier played worse, or he’s a scapegoat, etc, RobElliott is spot on Almiron should be the first player in line for an upgrade he was shocking today, yet again. I don’t in anyway blame him for the result as most the team were poor, but people bring up Gordon, who created a goal, as if he had a worse game.

I didn’t say anything after his crap performance mid-week against Dortmund, but he’s had another crap game today and it’s the usual defense of him. He ran about but didn’t tackle as usual, he missed any chance that come his way, and his passing was atrocious. As I say Trippier was the stand out poor performer on the day, and most the team was poor so I don’t blame Almiron for the result but we clearly need to upgrade that position and I really question the recruitment that 2 years post-takeover we’re still playing Almiron most games.

I'll happily take a point all things considered. Playing with a bit of a depleted squad here and seemingly can't use two 70M players sat on the bench

Aye I don’t understand not making subs.

The thinness of our squad does come down to our sometimes odd recruitment, we’ve bought 5 full backs, and 2 left wingers despite other areas of the pitch screaming out for players.

I'm sure TyneValleyBlackCat admitted he started following them when he was a kid to get back at his brother who (quite rightly) supported us.

A heartwarming origin story if ever there was.

 He really got his brother there mind.

Got a like from good old Roker Mackem who definitely doesn’t lie when they say they never watch any of our games and that they don’t care about anything we do

 Also Tynevalleyblackcat I wonder how he figures into the whole guidelines about what areas should support what team.

Friendship trophy btw  loser mentality from two fucking loser clubs.

There’s a three page thread on Tonali which only started today. Presumably the much longer one had been hidden from public view. Anyway I enjoyed these contributions from Dumb and Dumber:

    IMG_8251.thumb.jpeg.934d33f7adf77a27badbb4a42dac1c09.jpeg

You’ve got one suggesting he’s not a gambling addict because he only admitted that after he was caught. Which makes zero fucking sense. As does the suggestion (again) that the Saudis bribed people to get him a lenient sentence. Then the reply saying that playing him will be feeding his addiction. And they’re already pissed off about his January-signing replacement. I bet these two were chuffed when it was announced and have already managed to have gotten themselves all wound up about it.

 What the fuck is lenient about his ban? It’s longer than both Trippier and Toney received. Yes there was the possibility of a 3 year ban but howay no fucker is getting that unless it was proven they were fixing games in order to have the bet come in, he was betting on games he didn’t play in.

Not sure why they think a complete 10 month worldwide ban from football where he will miss his new club playing CL footy as well as an international tournament for his country is lenient . The “leniency” was because he immediately owned up to it, has agreed to participate in the steps they have demanded which reduced it from 3 years to 10 months it’s fuck all to do with Saudi Arabia.

I’m not Neves biggest fan but I really hope we do loan the fucker in January just to watch them lose their minds.

  10. It’s funny that they’ll scream on that we’re obsessed about them, yet they have a lengthy thread outraged about Howe saying he will play Tonali since the ban isn’t active yet immediately after Howe said it. They’re following the Tonali case and all have opinions on it etc, meanwhile I couldn’t tell you who their starting CM is

  11. I mean he’s not banned yet, it’s not a fucking loophole. Again he’s not done some morally reprehensible thing, he’s broke some rules and is facing a ban it’s the same as if someone got a red card, appealed the ban so got to play a game while they reviewed the incident. Why would we basically self impose a ban for games he’s eligible for?

    So much to unpack here.

Howe comments on player in his squad and his gambling addiction but can't comment on Saudi's treatment of LGBTQ and women which has no relation to football at all. How are they remotely the same?

Also, pretty sure it was proven that Johnson had admitted to the CEO and manager (fat Sam?) before he admitted it to the police and they knowingly played him anyway, whilst their fans lovingly sang he shags who he wants.

    Screenshot_2023-10-26-14-19-24-516_com.android.chrome.jpg

Aye their CEO or whatever had to step down because it was proven they all knew and Johnson had admitted it to them but they carried on protecting and playing him.

In any case, one is a nonce and one placed a couple of bets a year ago - why are they equating them like it’s some equal issue? Even if they had stepped in and said we won’t play the bloke he’s a nonce it’s absolutely not the same as playing a bloke ahead of a ban for betting . They’re acting like betting is some horrific thing, he should know better and he’s daft for doing it but there’s no malice or harm done he’s just broke rules, Johnson preyed on a child.

Sometimes I think back about whether they really did support Johnson that much but then you read posts like that and it’s clear as fucking day they all did.

There's been some shite written in the papers overnight man. "Howe taught a lesson", "reality check for mags", "toon come crashing down"

We had more possession than them and the same number of shots. We hit the cross bar twice, missed a one on one and could have had a penalty. And that's after losing two players to injury.

We were never going to walk all over Dortmund. They lost the league on the last day of last season. We more than held our own against them and will give them a good game in the return leg.

Fully agree, it’s this desperation from the media to basically paint us as needing to be “put in our place”. As you say this is a Dortmund side who almost won a title last year and have been largely unbeaten this season, they also have a team of experienced CL players. It was far from a humbling, we held our own even in what was an off game from some of our main players and with injury troubles.

  14. Disappointing, thought we looked a bit off the pace and got unlucky with the Wilson and Gordon chances. Not sure what game the referee was watching mind, what a fucking disaster he was.

Joelinton didn’t look fit, Isak was seemingly rushed back too quickly (not for the first time). Trippier was off the boil especially compared to his recent performances.

Dortmund are a very good side, and showed a lot of experience throughout imo. Hopefully Murphy and Isak aren’t badly hurt.

Fagioli is a dirty snitch mind. You don't chuck your mates under the bus to save yourself

Aye, I can’t imagine he will be really well received by team mates going forward. Not that every player is involved in stuff like this but he’s marked himself as a little grass.
