  1. Barcelona is another one of those 'failing clubs' I suppose. Muppet. Barca have never been taken over by their fans to regain 'local football' from the chairmen. Learn your history. Not the point I'm making is it? They are members and they elect the president every 3 years. If they don't like it he's out. Like to see them try that at ManU. The reason I use Barca numbnuts is cause they refused sponsorship on their shirts and in the end only let a charity on there. "Whereas most European soccer teams get huge sums of money for wearing a sponsor’s logo across the front of their shirts, FC Barcelona players wear the UNICEF symbol across their chests, much to Laporta’s pride. The club also donates 1.5 million euros per year to the foundation." If you don't understand something special and important about this I'm wasting my time with you. It's easy to be magnanimous when you have money pouring out your ears you sanctimonious prick, I'm talking about the fan converted clubs from chairman ownership to 'local football'. Barca is a complete irrelevance to that situation.
  2. The point is that it's the English Premier League. Surely the English Premier League should be played with in the English FA's boundaries? Responsibility for where and when the Premier League plays its matches has had sod all to do with the FA since 1992. Why 1992? Breakaway of the PL. Aye, from the Football League. Not the FA. Do some research. The Premier League started in 1992. Before that the teams were in the Football League. I don't need to look it up because I was into football back then. You need to research what becoming the PL meant for the relationship between the Division 1 clubs as a body to the FA, to what the PL is to the FA. What we on about again? Something you know fuckall about but still claim you're right, as usual.
  3. Totally agree. Like those parents who's daughter had washing up detergent accidently put in her orange juice. She's not even fully recovered yet and their already on about suing the hotel. If it was my kid, I'd just be praying she makes a full recovery and if she did then there'd be no need to take things further. Perhaps I'm just too nice. You are fucking insane. This has got to be one of the most nailed on cases of negligence I've seen in years.
  4. Nigel Pearson has left Newcastle United, according to Sky Sports News. The 44-year-old coach was brought to St James' by former Newcastle boss Glenn Roeder in October 2006. Pearson had two spells as caretaker manager with The Magpies - in May 2007 following Roeder's departure, and last month after Sam Allardyce's exit. But reports suggest that he has now made the decision to part company with The Magpies.

  8. Needs to sue BP Air more like. No point proceeding without a cause anyway surely.

  11. You can still only change 3. If you can't keep 3 international subs fit that between them are good enough to cover each position you shouldn't be in the premiership. 7 give you more options and therefore the bigger clubs with bigger squads have more options. Did that really need explaining. And how 3 subs are meant to cover 11 positions adequately or as well as 7 is beyond me. Why not make it 11 then, one for each position. We can call them specialists, and name them things like OFFENCIVE LEFT and DEFENCE CENTRAL and SPECIAL TEAM KICKER. Fucking hell man, if you need 7 options to beat the opposition you aren't much cop as a manager are you? I said it favoured big clubs, you said it didn't. Nice attempt at changing the subject though. Big clubs with shit managers. Souness could have an entire WC squad and 11 changes, he still wouldn't beat ferguson with 3. It's a non issue.

  14. Well FC United, AFC wimbledon and Newcastle Blue Star can all bugger off and create the Real Football League, I doubt anyone would really care. I read an interesting thing the other day where nearly all the failing clubs that had been taken over by the fans, and presumably the closest you can get to this mythical local football culture club, are all worse off, some even a division below, since they were taken over. As for why can't it be a friendly, no local supporter can be arsed to go when PSV or Barca come for a friendly, so I don't think that idea flies with most chairmen. Competitive football is competitive football, wherever it is played, that's the point.
  15. Guaranteed. For burn out they'll figure something out like have bigger squads, more substitutions, or even a series of games over a longer period offshore. Lets face it flying 23 hours to Melbourne in cattle-class like we'd have to do will fuck you over, flying in luxury I would guess is a LOT less tiring. It's not our game anymore. Our local team is simply a cog in the machine that is the EPL, and money is the oil that makes it run. IF a club can make more money from playing "away" than it can at home, what do you think they'll do. The machine was created by the clubs themselves, all the power in the PL is in the hands of the chairmen. As for Australia, hypersonic jets are not far off.
  16. Sunderland's recent history suggest that if they were doing well, the answer is quite a few. Sunderland are the perfect argument for a PL2.

    IT'S FRIDAY

Museums? Proof positive that Radgi pwns the Friday thread topic.
  19. Hopefully when they have enough money rolling in they will split into 2 leagus, a domestic PL and a PL with some overseas games. They only dropped the G14 Euro league idea on money grounds.
  20. How many of the 50,000 supporters who only go because it's their 'local team' would still turn up if we were in the third division and Ramage and Shola were our star players.
  21. So we're all agreed, back to grass roots jumpers for goalsposts local sport: cut all tv broadcasts, live spectators only, Stevie decides the entry requirements. All to see players from around the world.
  22. Fuck off to America if you love it so much. I have visa complications.
  23. Lareya Kingston. Get him!! Who? Sounds like a reggae singer.
