What's wrong with looking at achievements re. trophies? There are managers out there with champion's league, premier league, other league wins. This contrasts nicely with Allardyce. Is having won a trophy the minimum entry requirement then? After that, then you go on this long and winding process of considering respective CVs?

The egg-head at West Ham was a self made millionaire. Shit, even Freddie Shepherd was.

Anyway, the word is, ashley wants attacking football. Fair enough, it's just nice to know that despite the club pronouncements and declarations of faith, transfer activity etc etc, that at any minute Ashley can wield the axe, irrespective of the timing. Also nice to see it took him this long to realise we weren't playing attacking football, and he goes to the games!. The job must look more attractive by the minute.

You can't use it if you've used the service before. Perhaps someone else could?

P24W8D6L10 And if Shearer managed that in his first games? Go get your crystal ball and tell me it would never happen.
-
The CV element only seems to apply to trophies won though, seeing as progress in the league, transfer record and back room development count for nowt. How can you take account of a managers CV when every single other manager has recently stated Sam had a good one?
-
Ashley seems to know what he's doing as a businessman. That rather depends on who you ask.
-
He's in Barbados, but of course when you get a call from your good mate Anal you have to take it.

Apart from the headline, what possible indication does that article give that Hughes is any different from any other speculated candidates?

Barring the top 4, Villa and as you say Tottenham are run by hard nosed businessmen. So we could still end up 7th. Plus even idiots like the corrupt Thai know that money talks.

Classic example in the news earlier, 4 people stopped on the street, 3 gave rational thought out explanations as to who it should be and why it shouldn't be Shearer, the fourth, just gurned into the camera exclaiming Sheera for the Toon!, Sheera for the Toon! And bumbled off on his merry way. I swear half of them are clever? mackems on a piss take.

Back of the net! Wahey! What did you text? Baby hedgehogs again? No, I posted it a couple of pages back. I wanted to know how long 30 feet was in metres, they told me it was more than 98 metres. What is a baby hedgehog called? Brian.

I always rephrase that as, how bad would we have to be before he got sacked.
-
Not Toontastic by the looks of it.

Back of the net! What was the answer you got then? “A baby hedgehog is sometimes called a ‘pup’ or ‘piglet’. Most books about mammals just call them ‘baby’ or ‘young hedgehogs’. Piglet? Kin el

Think her name was Romany (if thats what you mean). May reapply seeing as I've got nothing to do but I thought I answered the questions pretty well. Though for the question: I had a dream about cutting off my hair - what does this mean? I answered: To dream that you are cutting off your hair, suggests that you are experiencing a loss in strength. You may be eliminating unwanted thoughts or habits. Surely that is a perfect answer? It might be that they see that as an agony aunt type question and want you to be optimistic. Also, I don't really understand the last sentence. Because dream meanings (did you get your answer from dreammoods.com?) can be seen as a load of tosh they might have been expecting a more fun answer telling them to go for a crazy hairstyle or something? Or maybe your answer was perfect and all the rest of yours were complete rubbish. Yeah, but due to their high volume of application they can't tell me what I did wrong. I answered the question "When will I meet my soul mate" with "Nobody can tell exactly when they will meet their soul mate. However, if you keep your eyes open, you are likely to meet them sooner rather than later." Not sure about the grammar there but thought it was a decent enough answer - very AQA like! I think you put that earleir in the thread, didn't you? It definitely reads like what I would expect. I'm quite tempted to get another application form and then text all my questions to AQA. If they refuse me after using their own answers I'd be gutted. I think the initial cost would soon be covered by wages. Unless you get 'What is a baby hedgehog called?'

Just my opinion but yes, I think it does. I think 'image' is very important in attracting the calibre of manager you want. To me this sends out a message of following the whims of the fans and I'm not sure that will appeal to a lot of managers. He may wear a suit all week and the weekend is him chilling out. Just because you dont see him during the week doesnt me he is your stereotypical business man. It could send a message to the managers as "wow, he's down to earth" He wears jeans and t-shirts for business meetings.

Of all clubs in the Premiership, NUFC is the least at risk of a fan revolt (in terms of staying away rather than turning up and booing). Look at the 'cup winners' boro for a start.

To be honest I think like a lot of fans they thought he probably deserved his chance and it was their job to give it to him, people change allegedly. I also think whether the story rumour is true or not, they might of come to the realisation it wasn't working and that there are better managers out there and available. So as the first response to your topic said, a bit of list a and a bit of list b and Nolan just broke the camel's back. If it's a gradual decision after giving Sam a chance it makes no sense to do it right now, how many decent managers are available in January? I would have thought being given a chance/decent amount of time is at least a season, and certainly not the shortest reign of a Toon manager in history. Look at all the other clubs that have fired their managers, all bar Chelsea were in serious risk of relegation. Were we?

If true it doesn't sit well with a few people's post match reactions to the stoke match on here. I stress if true as I can't believe Anal has an opposite number anywhere.

The best place to get accurate imformed definitive answers is on a message board. imo You'd be naive to think players/management don't check in from time to time, it's easier than setting up meetings in pubs or sitting in the stands. If a press release is forthcoming you know who to thank....

Because he was shit as well as all of the above. You have to wonder if the Barton situation had something to do with this. At Bolton, a lot of Allardyce's fuck ups were just pushed out to the back paddock so no-one would notice. I'm sorry Sam but 'because he was shit' doesn't cut it for me considering the circumstances, the statements, the initial backing and the recent transfers. I want a more accurate answer to be honest. He wasn't doing a very good job? As opposed to getting sacked for doing well? Which one do you think? Or do you want Mort & Ashley to type up a 1500 page dissertation which will be mailed to your address explaining in detail? I want the truth Goddammit! I would like it to be a pre-approved approach, my biggest fear is a snap decision at the wrong time of the season going against an apparent previously considered judgement that Sam was the man for them.
